from talking on the phone, i got a good feeling about tina. i had purchased three pairs of pants from zara and all of them needed hemming. the place i usually go to get my jeans hemmed, quoted me $20/pair to get my pants shortened. i googled and started calling around to four places and tina convinced me she was the one. she's located on the vancouver block at 736 granville street, unit 321. tina is professional, friendly and well dressed. her shop exudes a quaint and eclectic charm, with a black and white framed photo of the iconic and elegant audrey hepburn. the decor features a mix of classic and whimsical elements, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. the display case is filled with an assortment of collectible dolls, decorative items, mini tea sets, and issues of flare fashion magazines. she explained how she is meticulous in her measurements, making sure that the hem is even, and she also presses the hem. for the short time that we interacted, i can tell she is a perfectionist and that she takes pride in her work. i was quoted $18 for each pant. i tried on each pair, and she started to put safety pins and asked if the length was okay. the second pair of pants was a linen mix, and she suggested i wash it first. based on her experience, this may not need to be altered, as linen tends to shrink. the third pant was more dressy, and she suggested i bring this back another day, with the shoes i would normally wear it with, to accurately shorten the pants. she let me try on a pair of her high heels, but it was too high for me. i dropped by on a friday of a long weekend at around 4:00 pm. it was not possible for me to have the pants altered the same day, but tina said it could be done by the next day. since i was busy on saturday, we had agreed that i would come by on monday instead, and yes, credit cards are accepted. at the other place i go to, they only accept cash, or debit, and have to pay before the work is even done. tina does good quality work, one the pants i brought over was even double stitched. she is hardworking and busy, limiting three items of clothing for alterations per visit. read more

I have brought many items to Granville Professional Alterations for over 10 years including dresses, slacks, and jeans. Tina and her team have always done an excellent job. It's best to be clear about the charges and timeframe before leaving the office -- as with any business, we the consumer are better off when not making assumptions about services. This is a business, after all, and not my grandmother doing me a favour. In my experience, services are always itemised on the receipt and include a date when the item will be ready. When I need a garment professionally altered (something I can't do myself), I bring it here and am willing to pay a fair price for excellent work. With COVID, their hours might be affected. She said she was going to do it for cheap and then charged me $75 to take the sides in slightly and pinch some tulle. I spent less on the garment I was altering. I should have done it myself. Their debit machine suggests you tip... lol read more

I love Tina's work but make sure you are clear on the cost of the work and when your garments will be ready. We have had a few surprises. Things not done when promised, more work done and charged for than asked for. The language barrier is a problem. read more

Not only is Tina and her team the friendliest in the biz, they are also true experts in their craft. I have brought many items to them to date, including suits, jackets, jeans, and dress shirts. They are so consistent in their work, which is why I am now more than confident to write them a top rating today. It's to the point now where I feel I don't have to try anything on when I come for pick up, but they will always kindly insist I try it on before I leave. OMG. Don't ever go to this place. It's horryfying. They ruined my $1800 dress. They must eat while they work on clothes because my dress was all stained and smelled like fish sauce!!! I should sue. read more

This place is a joke. They do horrible job on alterations and charge extras without letting customers know. They ruined my $800 dress and doesn't even admit they made mistakes. They also eat while sewing, there are bits of stain marks on my dress. I will never return to this place for anything!!! Please save yourself and go somewhere else! read more
