I had a ton of work to do.....I had my computer with me and sat there for hours. They were very patient and kind to let me sit and work long after I had finished my meal. Ordered a western omelet, toasted blueberry muffin and Matza ball soup. $45 included tip. I asked for the home fries to be burned. They were undercooked to begin with. The omelet was only a two egg omelet, flat not fluffy and barely anything in it. More like a wish omelet. The blueberry muffin was hard. More like a hard corn muffin with some blueberries thrown in. I asked for the matzo ball soup to be just broth and matzo balls. Instead I got it with chicken skin floating in it, noodles, carrots and chicken with a bone. We threw it all out. What a waste. Was urgently trying to buy a car battery at Napa so fought rush hour traffic even tho I was starving, only to get there and see a sign on the door "closed internet down" ugh! Was craving a chef salad so did a yelp search with the "distance" filter. This place was walking distance from Napa, but of course I drove! Ended up ordering from door dash because I wanted to verify what was in the salad. Immediately ordered for pickup. It was a little pricey - $19 - but it was HUGE! I only could eat 1/4 of it, so that's like four meals for $5 each!! Also, it was ready before I could even park. This used to be another restaurant, maybe even an iHop or Friendly's(?) but they renovated it and it's super cute! I have to go back to Napa tomorrow, of course, so will prob go back for breakfast and eat in! Plenty of parking and in the same lot with other things u might need like Staples, dry cleaner, hair salon, mom&pop specially pharmacy... One tip: if u get the chef salad, ask for extra lettuce & veg. There's TONs of meat cheese not complaining about it but I'm prob gonna have to get some lettuce at the grocery store. First, the menu is ginormous. It seems as if everything is possible here or just about. Second, the matzo ball soup is simply outstanding and I'm picky about my matzo ball soup. Third, you can't go wrong with the homemade desserts--their chocolate cake and lemon meringue pie are noteworthy. Fourth, there's sufficient, free parking and that's not always easy in congested Yonkers. I think their lunch and dinner options are superior to breakfast. I'm not fond of the coffee, sorry. I needed food fast cause I care for a disabled person and dont have a car today. Usually, I go to Bronxville but figured I would use something closer to get a meal within a reasonable time. Being 1 mile away the app says its like a 20 minute wait time from door to door for a breakfast meal so I ordered it. It turns out the grub hub app states they cant track the delivery because the restaurant uses its own drivers. My wait time was 60 minutes (15 food 45 delivery) and I am writing this review sitting next to a plate of cold eggs and homefries. Never order delivery from this place, its awful and not my first experience. I'm done and going back to Bronxville which is far superior. read more

My dad and I go to Grassy Sprain Diner a few times a week. It's a very friendly diner with an extensive menu, good food, and fair prices. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and very nice. My absolute favorite diner in the area! I've been coming here with my family for quite a long time and always enjoy the experience. The food is always delicious, fast and the employees are friendly. I recently ordered take out and I was pleased to see that the service and quality of food have not suffered in these hard times. The order was ready quickly (like always) and the food was just delicious. I had a Tex Mex wrap on a gluten free wrap. The wrap comes with fries and the wrap itself is huge. I'm never hungry after having meal from this diner. I also love to get the Italian AM wrap on the rare occasion that I need to order breakfast. My experience here started out decent. The parking lot is a little hectic, but I was seated after a brief wait. It was packed.. 11 AM Sunday morning. I ordered the eggs Benedict, and the waitress instead brought me eggs Florentine. Whatever, they made the correction and things were ok. The portion size of the home fries was disappointing, and the coffee here (contrary to what their menu says) is certainly not world famous. The staff here are incredible! I walked in and ordered take out. They were so friendly and helpful. Every customer who walked in was greeted and given their drink of choice while looking at menu. Average diner with a good rep. I've been wanting to try this place for years, but have never gotten the chance until more recently. I've always heard great things about this place and even once in a while see one of their low budget commercials on TV. I finally got a chance to try it out. They're ok - but nothing overly special either. The diner is located in a mini shopping plaza. There's ample parking, but at times it could be a little congested. It shares the space with a few other businesses, including Staples. Inside is ok. There's plenty of seating and I would imagine at busier times it may be difficult to find a spot. It's larger inside than it looks perhaps from the outside, but not overly large at the same time. It has a comfortable vibe/feel. The menu is about what you'd expect from any typical diner. What I don't agree with is that the "specials" are priced differently than their identical selection in the main menu - and from what I saw, the "specials" are actually priced slightly more than the exact same selection in the menu. Kinda weird. I ordered the "lumberjack" breakfast. The selection for this was limiting - you can choose between either french toast or pancakes, which is fine - but you can only have one of either sausage, bacon, or ham. The dish also comes with eggs made the way you want. This has to be the weakest "lumberjack" I've ever had - and I've had it at least two different businesses. In fact, Denny's "lumberjack" gives you all 3 meats, toast, and homefries as well for about the same price and pretty much taste. So maybe their version of a "lumberjack" is skimpy - but either way, I won't be ordering that again if I ever return as I'll take Denny's and their all-around superior "lumberjack". The food was diner average and tasted fine. No complaints about the taste really. I wasn't a fan of the waitress. I'm not sure if she had a bad day and decided to bring it in to work or is naturally unfriendly with a nasty vibe. I was friendly to her as I usually am, so I know it was myself or my companion. If I ever decide to return here, I can only hope she has the day off as I don't want to deal with her again. So all in all a decent diner, but it's not a standout as some claim either. It's certainly not the best in Westchester or even just Yonkers. To me, this place is really no different than most other diners from selection, to pricing, to atmosphere. The only difference is that other diners have at least friendlier waitresses. Maybe I'll try them again, but I won't lose any sleep if I don't. read more

Oooh oooo, Grassy Sprain! I've been patronizing your physical restaurant BEFORE it was even Grassy Sprain being Friendlys. Having detoured off the highway, I thought I'd stop in for a basic order: Greek salad, my usual coffee, and the "usual" large chocolate chip Saran wrapped cookie at the register. Coffee was delicious, as usual, en route home. Upon hearing it up, found a black floating "dot". Picking it out: delicate WINGS and a round body mimicking a FLY! Needless to say, it was poured down the drain. The salad has many pieces of unfresh lettuce cuttings(discarded). Dressing pinkish never tried before but tasted with caution. Overall, it's "okay" Now the wanted cookie: dry, crumbly without much of any flavor. Touched it and was instant crumbs ??old?? NOT trying to pull you guys apart bc like I said I always LOVED(past tense)stopping here as I always found it to be a "treat" --- NOT today! Unsure when will be the NEXT time to freely place trust in receiving food from here. Sorry to have written this, but need to establish awareness for other customers. We were staying next door at the Hampton Inn for a few days and decided to skip the generic hotel breakfast one morning and try this diner. Was indeed a good choice.
