What can you say about the service? Well how about up and down. There are those days when the queue is as far as the door and the odd days I t take the long winding trip through the empty barriers to the cashier. Do I mind that trip,? NO I just feel like jumping in the air and clicking my heels. Ohhhh how I hate it on the days everyone in the queue seems to be holding a form for car tax or thats what I have always thought it was. They get to the counter and then proceed to fill it in. Worst when it's staff lunch hour and cashiers go down to two. The Post Office used to sell lotsof bits and bobs, that seems to have gone and we are down to just the usual post items. It did give you something to look at or grab as you trundled along the queue. But at the end of the day, it's our good old Post Office. always been there and hopefully always will be. Not the most elegant one, not the quickest, It's friendly and does the job. Stands there like a rock of which I imaginee it is to alot of people. So now ,, I was actually going to give it Four stars but going to go back up the page and give it Five. Very busy post office, probably because most of the more convenient other local post offices have…read morebeen closed down. Consequently there is often a long queue. However long the queue is though they always have to try and sell you car insurance, a savings account, a mobile top up or something else that you haven't asked for and don't want. Passport service (and photo booth), car taxation and a Bureau de Change are all available along with the usual PO services. However if you just need some stamps I'd go to WH Smith across the square.

The staff are friendly and helpful - but that cannot change the fact that there are rarely more than 3 people behind the counter and usually at least 20 people queuing. The queuing area is hot and cramped and standing for long periods of time makes everybody irritated and faint - which means that the poor staff are often forced to bear the brunt of this dissatisfaction. The queue is made longer because of the ridiculous policy of the small shop at the entrance to the Post Office not selling stamps! They sell postal envelopes, boxes, wrapping, pens, sweets etc - but if you want stamps you need to queue up at the main counters at the back of the building. Ridiculous! If you do need to post or collect items, leave yourself plenty of time to do so.

Crown Post Offices are a dying breed now - it seems almost every Post Office is now becoming a…read moresmall kiosk in a newsagents or similar style store, this is one of the few good remaining Post Offices remaining. This is a large branch, on Spring Gardens which is just off Market Street. It has a ticketed queuing approach, where you get a ticket and wait for them to call your number, I much prefer this to the standard queuing as it means you can sit down, relax without squabbling over your place in the queue. There is also a good number of self-service postage machines (These are great but not ideal as they don't include all services such as if the postage is pre-paid). The staff here are pretty friendly and service is quick enough, this is a huge benefit over the smaller Post Offices around the city centre located in Manchester Souvenirs and News stores, as it can be hit and miss whether you get served quickly or not - the staff always seem to take more care at this location too. It can be cheaper to pre-pay your postage online depending on the service being used. I don't understand the logic behind this, especially if you have to visit a Post Office anyway to post the parcel and/or generate proof of posting. 4* - A very good Post Office location, yet working on transparency between pricing through all payment methods and adding services to the self-service postage machines to make it quicker, and confusion-free would be a huge improvement again.

And…read moreoften I found myself here having to post things off while I was working at Spinningfields, so once I'd jostled through the crowds the last thing I wanted was apocalyptic queues whilst standing like a lemon with my parcel. Thankfully, this is a particularly large post office. It sells what you'd expect - envelopes, stationery, stamps, the works, but with a great many kiosks it means you're never waiting a ludicrously long time to get rid of your items. The staff are helpful too, I was talked through the ins and outs of how many stamps I should put on a card to enable it to reach Fuerteventura, for instance. Its location just next to the Tesco Metro makes it a very handy stopping off point if you happen to be in town. I worked this out when I had to head here today to post off a box and a letter, both recorded delivery. I'm around a mile from a Post Office, no matter what direction I walk in. The shop opposite my apartment building closed down a long time ago, and now I'm at the mercy of Mocha Parade (gimme me flamin' giro), Soviet, sorry, Salford Precinct (Gorky Park) and this. This is my default. I'd like to take a moment to announce that I'm a dumbass as well. Ticket systems? Lost on me. I become like a doddering old grandmother that's been handed an iPod for the first time. Don't worry, this happens at cheese counters and in hospital queues too. Small ballots of paper bewilder me. Anyway, I realised that I shouldn't have sauntered past the friendly-looking bloke stood next to the ominous looking machine. And the lady who handled my parcels was super friendly. It's quick and easy. Worth a visit if you're parcel-sending this Christmas. Although by now you're probably too late... sorry, there was no need for that. I reckon you are though. Okay, I promise, I'll stop now.

The staff are very Friendly & helpful, they are very efficient and are never phased when you turn up with 10 Ebay packages to post! Early mornings can be busy especially Thursdays which must be pension/benefit day as the queue seems to be crazy and best avoided. There is absolutely no parking outside the post office, the closest parking is on Palatine or outside Tesco on Central Drive, it's not very handy.

I would never normally dream of writing a review for an institution as large and as well known as…read morethe Post office as I thought there would be very little to say and also very little to differentiate one branch from another but this particular branch impressed me greatly. The staff here are absolutely great and when I was having a nightmare with my passport application they did their best to help and instruct me whilst also giving me helpful information and generally being very friendly about it indeed. In some branches of the Post Office the staff can be slow and as such the ques can stretch to outside the store but here this is most certainly not the case. The staff are fast and efficient and this means that you never have to waste too much time in your busy schedule waiting around after other people. On the whole the distinguishing feature here is the attitude and brilliant work rate of the staff and they most certainly deserve a pat on the back for that.

I'm not sure if this Post Office is unique or if there is an effort to upgrade the locations and motivate the stuff but I do know I'm going back to this one every time I need to mail something. The place is spotless and brightly lit which already gives you a good feeling of professionalism. I went there around 5pm on a Wednesday (dreading the fact I'd likely get stuck in the after work queues) but to my surprise it was mostly empty and yet there were still 4 staff at the counters. Within seconds I was called over (they have a number system but I didn't see any place to grab a number) and one of the friendliest post office guys I've ever met dealt with my request and I was in and out in under 5 minutes. However, what really impressed me (because I'm a boy and we like toys) were the automatic post stations. Like a self checkout at Sainsbury's, you can take your letter, weigh it, print out the stamp, slap it on, and drop it in the slot. I reckon this is what helps keep their lines down as most of the time you are just trying to send a package or letter through regular mail. It's only when you need to have it sent by registered mail or take advantage of the non-mail services offered do you need the counter. Brilliant! Overall, an incredibly pleasant experience far above my expectations. Win.

And not being the best form-filler-out-erer (or English speaker apparently) I went to the Post Office on Leece Street with my tenously filled form and decided to get the Check and send service which they provide there. Seriously. That lady Saved my life. Firstly, my tutor forgot the countersign her countersign form. Oops. Anyway, she set me straight gave me the right advice, and volia 2 weeks later, my passport has arrived on my doorstep. No fretting just sorted. If there wasn't a glass partition I coulda kissed her she was so helpful! And she suggested, that as they don't check and send the Provisional driving licenses, where to go. (No more silly passport as ID) Done and Dusted!
