Overheard the manager talking in the office area to another employee gossiping about other employees and she seemed very disrespectful. I also witnessed an employee in the yard hitting a dog way too aggressively. She then proceeded to grab the dog by its scruff on its neck and throw it back while yelling at it because it was not listening to her. Left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. Had friends work there and tell me how terribly some of the staff treats the animals and how disrespectful and unjust the current management is. The current owner is way to laid back and he looked like he was on vacation instead of running a business. Only nice thing I can say about this place is that they keep it very clean. read more

Do not do business here and ESPECIALLY do not work here!!! I was fired after almost 3 weeks of being told i was doing great and catching on quick, the "reports" the manager said she was getting were blatant lies that i know i would never do and or was NEVER talked about to. The manager that puts on a very friendly front to your faces manhandled another employees dog right in front of my face threatening to punch the dog in the face (as well as threatening to do the same to other dogs) instead of just grabbing a leash like you're supposed to. The management does nothing but gossip about you instead of coming to you directly. The manager also told the family of a cat that got lost in the care of great oak that they fired the employee at fault for that, but that was a complete lie as well. All this place is is gossip and mistreatment not only to the employees that are working hard to provide for themselves and family, but mistreatment to the animals as well, at the hands of Alisa Morrison, the manager. read more

I have been there to board my 2 dogs, Izzy & Abigail (10 lbs each) 2 times. When I picked them up the 1st time, the're harnesses were on backwards and they let them in the lobby with me while I paid. They wrapped around me and I fell. They never even came out of their box counter to help. This last visit I just picked them up from a 7 hour drive and I brought a friend to grab the food and bedding & took the dogs to the car. I gave them the 15% suggested tip on my card & left we drove all the way home with the dogs only to fund out they didn't put the Tupperware food, etc inside the bedding they handed to Glenn. We had to drive back to get it after we were already home and they still couldn't find their food! The service was terrible and I will not ever tip 15% for poor service, or go back there again. 1st time was bad enough, after this time I have learned my lesson, they have no simple customer service and I do would never recommend them again. The girls here really know their stuff! My babies are always loved and taken care of! I never have to worry and they encourage me to call and inquire if I ever am worried or am just missing my pets. The style of this business is unlike any other doggy daycare. I feel as though my dog is part of the family there, all of the employees are so welcoming and kind and they genuinely care about my pups! I most definitely recommend Great Oak! read more

I dropped my two dogs off that have lived together for their whole lives. My German Shepard got shaved down and my pitty got a bath. According to the groomer, my dogs that spend every waking and sleeping moment of their lives together got into a fight for the first time ever. I marked on the sheet that they had separation anxiety. First of all, my German Shepard's haircut is not even remotely blended. I have included pictures of this haircut and the blended one from our previous groomer before moving here. Second, knowing my dogs have separation anxiety they were separated from each other. My German Shepard was not given any water and was there from 8am-5pm. He at 6 years old came home and drank so much water his belly inflated like a puppy then threw it all up. We had to ration his water to get some back in him. When I called the resort to ask about his treatment, the girl, Sue, was very defensive and did not offer to contact the groomer since she allegedly was "unsure". All of The German Shepard's groomers in Texas and Alabama have always said he was a pro and an absolute joy to groom and they couldn't get enough of him. This particular groomer had only negative things to say about my dog. In my opinion that reflects poorly on the human not the dog. This has been the worst experience for both me and my poor dog and we will not be using their grooming services again. read more
