I had a great experience with Dr. Dalton and the staff made me feel very safe while I was very nervous. I do think it could be helpful to provide maybe a whiteboard and dry erase markers or a pencil to write down anything to help communication between the nurses and patients. What can I say? Everybody hates the dentist. However, the dental assistants were very pleasant to me when I had to get my wisdom teeth extracted. The doctor did a somewhat decent job, damaging my nerve in my mouth which is always a risk when going in for surgery. So I don't mind that much. HOWEVER! The payment plans here suck. They offer no good payment methods. Overall a pretty okay place, just much too pricey. read more

Great River Oral Surgery was amazing to me. Starting out by working me into their schedule on a day where they booked solid. With the high level of pain I was in, they were extremely accommodating and didn't hesitate to help me. Dr. King and the entire staff were absolutely incredible, starting from the time I walked in the door where I was greeted. How on earth is it possible that no one has written a glowing Yelp review for Great River Oral Surgery yet? Let me just say this. I am a dentaphobe. Serious, no fooling around scared to death, dentaphobe. I HAD to have a tooth in need of a root canal which had developed a cavity extracted and will, as soon as possible, have an implant inserted. Dr. Michael Dalton was absolutely outstanding. Incredibly profession, kind, and non-judgemental. Three keys things for someone like me. Next, the extraction was so well done. I haven't felt the need to take any of the prescribed painkillers or even so much as a Motrin post surgery. I fell nothing, heard nothing, remember nothing. Perfection! This is the one and only time in my life I have ever said I will be returning to a dentist. Oh, and, for what it's worth.... I live in Chicago. Worth the drive for both quality of care and sanity on the final invoice. Thank you so much Dr. Dalton and c'mon Dubuquers give these guys some Yelp love. They deserve it! read more

Dr. Michael Dalton removed my daughter's impacted wisdom teeth. It was a great experience, from walking in the door to leaving the building with everything completed. Dr. Dalton is very caring and did a great job. The nurse and assistants in the surgery room, plus the recovery room assistants were so wonderful at putting my daughter at ease and helping with the aftercare instructions. I recently used Great River Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery center for a tooth removal after a referral from my regular dentist. I had a tooth that had, had 2 different fillings for a cavity over the years. The filling had broken and there was not enough there to repair it and my dentist suggested removing it. He was not comfortable doing the removal and suggested two different oral surgeons. I chose Great River because they were located in Clinton where I worked and I would not have to travel to the Quad Cities for treatment. I was assigned to a Dr. Stephanie Dalton who was very polite and came across as someone that had a good grasp on the ability to perform the extraction, so I went ahead with Dr. Dalton. It was to be a fairly straightforward and easy extraction so there was no need to put me out but just numb the area and pull the tooth. Put in a couple of stitches and send me on my way. It would have been nice if this would have been the case. During the extraction a piece of the tooth that was to be removed was broken off and pushed up into my sinus cavity. Dr. Dalton tried to remove it with no luck and determined further surgery would be needed to repair the error. Dr. Dalton determined that this surgery should be done as soon as possible and instructed the receptionist to get me back in as soon as possible. I was scheduled a week later for sinus surgery with being "put out" for the surgery. I called the office approx. 3 days after with a request for additional pain meds do to extensive pain and was made to feel like a drug seeker. After approx. 20 minutes on the phone trying to convince the doctor that was there that I was truly in pain they gave me a few additional pain meds. Thank goodness I had pain meds for another health issue that I could use during this time because Great River really didn't listen to me and didn't believe that I was in the pain that I had. After a week of waiting to get back in (which I think was excessive as Dr. Dalton made it clear to the receptionist that this should happen ASAP and that I should not be waiting around) I was finally taken in for additional surgery. During this session I was "put out" and though the pc. of tooth had moved during the week it was removed successfully with a lot of stitches left all over my mouth. I was told not to chew on that side of my mouth if at all possible, sneeze with my mouth open if I absolutely had to, not to blow my nose, etc... I followed the rules 100% without question, even though I could blow air from my sinus out my mouth do to a hole that was left in my mouth after the surgery. I looked this up afterwards and this was not supposed to be - opps!. During this period my mouth and teeth got more and more sore with even my tongue touching the tooth next to the one removed and the next two teeth causing extensive pain. I went back for my follow up and told them what was going on and it was pretty much ignored. I was told things were healing well after a quick look in my mouth without even touching the teeth or anything else being done. I was told I was good to go and sent on my way. It wasn't a day later that my sinuses were so bad that I had to lightly blow my nose. As soon as I did the hole in my mouth opened back up. I called right away and was told oh let it go for two weeks and we will see you then and look at it. Since that point I have had extensive sinus issues and have lost about 50 to 60% of my sense of smell and a large amount of my taste. During that two week period I had an appointment with my regular dentist for a cleaning that had been made months before. I thought OMG more dentist time! I talked to the dentist and explained what was going on during the cleaning. Thank goodness the person doing the cleaning didn't go after that side of my mouth to clean and let it be! I talked with the dentist and it now looks like I will need a root canal done on three teeth next to the one that was pulled since I can not even put any pressure on those teeth without excessive pain. All because I went to Great River Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Dr. Dalton for a simple extraction. There is no way that I can recommend Dr. Dalton. As for Great River I really don't know the other doctors but from the service I received I would not recommend the office in Clinton for any dental work. read more

I just had the WORST experience ever at Grand River Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons! Went for a consultation for my daughter to have surgery on her impacted canines. Appointment was at 2:45 the doctor didn't come to the room until 4:05!!! Dentist requested an unnecessary ct scan as my dentist had already provided all the necessary information for a consult. He gave a pathetic excuse of any apology for making us wait so long talked about 5 minutes about the procedure we were there for and spent the next 20 minutes trying to talk me into getting her wisdom teeth out. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the nurse to come back and talk about the financial end. She didnt run anything through my insurance, when I asked her to do that I caught attitude and was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks she just tried collecting half of the total payment and was so "nice" as to include billing for the wiscom teeth surgery I did NOT ask for!! Then tried billing me $350 for the unnecessary ct scan!! All and all the procedure will take less time than the consultation. What bunch of crooked theives! read more
