The rice here is made dry, which doesn't make it taste as good. Maybe it's healthier that way? Food was decent. Really like that they offer wide rice noodles and the hours are good. (Open until 11 PM many days) unlike many other Chinese restaurants. Reasonable to pick up. Seems people have been having trouble ordering online. So glad I can drive- some of these places charge more for online orders even if you order online and then pick it up. People who work here are really nice. I will never patronize Great Wall Restaurant on Lansdowne Ave ever again!! I ordered 3 shrimp rolls. The total was $5.86. I handed the owner my cash app card. Then he pointed to a sign that said $12 minimum with a card. I asked for my card back, I was not willing to spend $12. I was going to get the cash and come back!! He started screaming to the top of his Lungs!! I GOTTA MAKE MONEY ALONG WITH OTHER OBSCENITIES!! He added another shrimp roll to my bill and charged me for sauces, which are usually free. I called an hour later stating that the fix had not arrived he confirmed my address and my order said he would have someone deliver the replacement. I did not expect to eat everything but it was so delicious! I came here after walking to the library because I had gotten hungry and needed to eat before I went home. I had Shrimp with tofu in spicy black bean sauce. Also had an appetizer of some steamed pork dumplings! The sauce for the shrimp was spicy but not overpowering which I appreciated. Also the dumplings were delectable. Everything was good. I hope to order from the diet special menu next time and see if not only will I get bang for my buck but tasty healthy stuff as well! It was so dry, it made my mouth dry and there was no egg to boot. This place is fast, cheap, and convenient...a perfect combination for a Chinese restaurant! I always come here for the Chinese vegetable soup when I am feeling a cold coming on - it always helps me feel a little better. I also really enjoy their vegetable mei fun. There is an area to eat in, but I rarely see anyone sitting. I usually call ahead and my food is ready when I get there, but service is pretty fast even if you walk in and order. Recently moved to a spot in Delco and was desperately craving Chinese. Great Wall was the first menu I found in the stack of about 20 that I had been collecting. Cold sesame noodle? Check. Boneless spare ribs? Check. General Tso's Chicken for tomorrow? Check! And it's a combo! DONE. I called and ordered, asking to pay with a card which they accepted. An hour later I got a call, which lead me to jump up from the couch because I assumed (silly me) that they were calling to let me know they were outside. I was sorely mistaken. They couldn't find my building. They couldn't find me! They had my food and couldn't get it to me because my [specific and clear] directions weren't good enough. 7 minutes later, I was signing the receipt and being handed a bag. A bag which I later found out didn't have my boneless spare ribs. Oh, and they didn't delivered the two liter of soda. Both of which I paid for. I called to complain and they offered me a credit but seeing as how I was up until 2am dry heaving... I probably won't be ordering from here again. The food (which upset my stomach and I wouldn't recommend) was average at best. Cold sesame noodles with too much peanut sauce and not enough spice, General Tso's that came in a red sauce with no more than two pieces of broccoli and an egg roll which... If I moved from the area, I wouldn't ever think of Great Wall again. Food is average. This is the second time we've ordered broccoli, string beans, and snow peas only to be called back to tell us there aren't any snow peas. Delivery is sporadic. Tonight I've been waiting 60 minutes for our order; when we ordered it, they told us 30-40 minutes. I just called, and they said it's on the way--no apology. We'll see if the delivery guy calls us from the other end of the street asking us where we are as he slowly drives up the street looking for the house while he's on the phone with us. Update: It was about 1 hour and 10 minutes for delivery. I called the restaurant back, and they were friendly, but unhelpful. They said the driver had the order (5 of them) and the order was on it's way, but they couldn't say where it was or when it'd be delivered. They really just wanted to know if I wanted to cancel my order. Well, at 8:45 PM what are my options? So, finally, they gave me a 20% discount. The driver arrived. We have since moved from Lansdowne but every so often we go back to Great Wall just for the memories. Sure, this place is no Sakura but it's definitely better than their competitors. We've been ordering from Great Wall in Lansdowne since 2016, usually once or twice a month. Their service and cuisine is normally above average but today's order contained a metal wire no more than 2 inches long. This was found in my chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce, as I was chewing on the first piece of broccoli. Luckily, it got mangled up in my teeth and not haphazardly swallowed which could have been lethal. I called Great Wall immediately about the metal wire, warning them to perhaps check future orders. The server "BOSS" said that there's nothing they use that would leave that kind of debris. I brought up that maybe it came from a scouring pad of some kind when the dishwasher scours the pots or pans. "BOSS" did not heed my warning and appeared to be disconcerted and unapologetic towards me. They lost a loyal customer today. My husband and me stopped in one night after work and fell in love! The staff was so nice and family oriented. The flavor of the food is so much better than your average Chinese food place. The portions are very big and always tastes great! I don't see how people gave such bad reviews because compared to others in the area this restaurant is better. My sister and I got a free two liter soda once and we didn't even spend that much to deserve it.
