We were unfortunate enough to be the brunt of one of Tony's scams, in my option that is. His…read morecontractors, they are phenomenal, great craftmanship by all. However, Tony, the owner of TH Construction of Anoka, tried flipping us a bill for items we paid cash for to his vendors, tried getting us to pay for a mistake he made contrary to our agreement, and degraded our realtor. He called my husband and proceeded to tell him, our very respected realtor was, among other things, "a crazy bitch!" He has yet to complete final grade, and fund the proper allowance into escrow. He was supposed to keep $5,000 in escrow, for landscaping, he took money out of escrow the day before closing and failed to disclose he didn't fund, he tried scamming us out of money. We found out by calling the city when he showed up nearly an hour late to closing. The worst part, was that our number 1 priority to our property was protecting and establishing our deceased daughters garden, which was her wish granted by a local wish granting organization Wishes & More, our family, friends, and community. This was an agreement between us which was written in our original purchase agreement. Upon being confronted about his assistant entering into negotiations without disclosing to us that she's a licensed realtor, and finding out we would not foot the bill for his mistake on countertops, carpeting, and appliances, he proceeded to send an employee out to cut weeds, prior to final grade (which still hasn't occurred). He failed to notify the employee of this part of our purchase agreement. We believe he acted in a malicious and negligent manner, by sending this employee out knowing he would completely demolished shrubs, and plants that were large, blooming, and full of color. I immediately sent an email to our realtor team, Tony & his wife Jodi (realtor for Tony). This was all I had left of my deceased daughter, perennials or not, Tony refused to sign an agreement to rectify the situation. His response, "...they're perennials, they'll grow back!" Threw it in the trash. No apology to my family in the days before her birthday, and death anniversary. Not even an, "I am so sorry!" He then walked out of closing 3 separate times for not getting his way, putting us in a 6-hour closing because he wouldn't rectify the mistakes that put him in breach of contract, he got caught scamming us out of money in our escrow, and he wouldn't agree to sign the addendum to fix the items from our final walk through, which he's legally obligated to do in a new build. I would hands down hire his contractors, but I would never ever hire Tony as my builder ever again. His inability to uphold ethical and moral standards set by those in the contracting/ building industry is mind boggling. It's a shame he's allowed to continue doing this to families, when other builders make it their pride and joy to provide a positive service, and experience, especially knowing buyers are investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into your trade. This is not our first build, so I would say, it's worth your peace of mind to go elsewhere and have the positive experience of building a new home with a builder who truly has your best interest and dreams at the forefront of your build.
