Found this place on a whim but loved our time here. Itsm's a great bang for buck. We got the 2 person platter and had sooo much food that we had to take it home. This was easily 4 smaller portions meals for ~$64. Everything was absolutely delicious and I would love to come back to try other entrees. Our server was an absolute delight. My friend recommended this restaurant for dinner. I had the Kotta Skaras (Roasted Chicken) with rice and vegetables. I had a Greek Salad for starters. The salad was delicious and a little bit salty. That's to be expected with the feta cheese. The main dish was fabulous. I loved every single bite. The only negative was the vegetables was surprisingly bland. Afterwards I decided to get the Strawberry cheesecake. That was amazing and very rich!!! I managed to finish it but I was very full at this point. The servers were very good. Absolutely recommend this Greek place for food, friendly service and beautiful interior dining! We got the Greek platter for 2 dinner = $58 with tax We got this for take out and it was a huge portion, definitely can feed 3 hungry adults. It included Lamb, a chicken skewer, spanakopita, calamari, dolmas, baked potatoes, roasted veggies, rice, pita and Greek salad. Everything was superrrr tasty, no complaints, the lamb was delicious and not gamey! Side note on great service: We had called for a pick up and when I arrived by the pick up time it was super busy, I had waited an additional 20-25mins for my food but multiple staff walking by asked if I've been helped or if I'm okay and apologized several times. I was pleasantly okay with waiting and the hostess ended up giving me a $10 voucher and a brownie cheesecake as kind gesture for the long wait. Absolutely fantastic food and service! We're a family of 3 from California, road-tripping through BC. Our dinner here was hands-down the best meal we had our entire trip (and we visited lots of excellent places). We had the lamb chops, Greek ribs, and the pasta Alfredo--all were fantastic. The Greek salad and the pita which accompany the entrees were likewise amazing. Our server was exceptional, and the owner personally visited each table several times to check in with diners. Our little boy was positively floored when our server brought him a personalized crème brûlée for dessert. Such a wonderful dining experience! We came here on a Wednesday for dinner after just having arrived into town, and I was happy to see plenty of outdoor dining! Our waitress was super friendly, and we ordered the platter for two which came with calamari, spanakopita (pastry with spinach and cheese), meatballs, chicken souvlaki, roast lamb, potatoes, steamed veggies, rice, hummus, tzatziki, pita, and each person got a choice of Greek salad, Caesar salad, or soup which was mushroom cream soup. I got Greek salad and it was fresh and delicious! Everything on the platter was tasty as well, very fresh and well-cooked. The pita was warm and super chewy, calamari hot and fried with not too much breading, spanakopita was a bit oily but the spinach and cheese inside was great, meatballs were a bit dry but the sauce was flavorful and made the meatballs less dry, chicken souvlaki was moist and had flavor, roast lamb fell off the bone and had a lot of fat, rice was chewy and good too, and I appreciated the steamed veggies to balance out the pile of meat. Everything was very well made but could've done with a bit more flavor. The meal came out to be about 55 CAD post-tax, and we took about half of it home as leftovers. read more

We were exhausted and grumpy as a family when after being 10 hours on the road, we get into Abbotsford, and find out that most restaurants seemed to close at 8 PM on a Saturday night? Not wanting fast food, we saw this place was open. It was incredibly busy in there, but they managed to squeeze us in. I have to say our server was very kind to us, and our child with special needs. She went ahead and got pita bread for her to munch on while we were waiting for our food. Amazing server. It was beautiful inside, but we were too tired and hungry to appreciate the décor. It had lovely brickwork with Greek accents. For food we decided on the Greek platter for two - pita with hummus and tzatziki, roast lamb, spanakopita, calamari (fried), keftedes (meatballs), and chicken souvlaki. While my daughter chose the Chicken Pacific - A chicken breast filled with crab and shrimp baked with cheese and a Béarnaise sauce. We also started with a lentil soup (came with our dishes). First of all, food was AMAZING. Loved almost all of it. What was the best for me was the calamari and the roasted lamb. The lentil soup was a wonderful starter as well as a Greek Salad. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the spanakopita. It lacked flavour, and perhaps the spinach wasn't drained well but it was liquidly. However, after all the amazing food, it was just a slight hiccup. My daughter loved her chicken pacific, and the portion was so larger, that she even let me sample it. Lovely seafood encased in cheese and creamy goodness. Definitely a great dish. We are happy that we stumbled onto this restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone passing through. read more

My wife and I were there Saturday night for my birthday and the service and food were amazing. TY to Ashley (I think i am reading that right off of the receipt. I've been to both locations for dinner several times each and found a consistent experience: friendly and efficient service, very large portions, loud room. At first glance, prices seem high, but meals include a bowl of the daily soup and a plate of salad (green, caesar or greek -topped with delicious homemade dressings) that arrive as first and second courses before the entree (which comes with tzatziki & pita on the side). The quality of the food is pretty good - there's a home style element (soups arrive diner-style with soda crackers on the side; veggies in the salads are chopped into irregular sized pieces; entree plates all come with a scoop of buttered frozen vegetable medley and 2 scoops of rice enhanced with cubed frozen veggie mix) but proteins have been good quality and well cooked. A note about the service: on every visit we've noticed multiple staff attending to our table to check in, keep things moving and to keep the table cleared. Consequently, we've always left feeling well taken care of between the service, the deliciousness of what we ordered, and the volume of food placed before us. read more

A fantastic family-run Greek restaurant in Abbotsford with great service too. I'm sure most Vancouverites won't drive all the way to Abby just for Greek food, but if you're in the area, you should check this place out. I ordered thallasopita which consisted of scallops, shrimp, crab meat, and asparagus in a creamy bechamel sauce wrapped in a fillo pastry. It's a huge chunk of thallasopita filled with seafood goodness - very hearty and filling! If you're hungry for seafood dish, this is what you should order. The fillo pastry was thin and crispy too. Also included in the meal was either soup or salad. Their Greek salad was large for a side dish and the veggies and salad dressing were very fresh and tasty. It came with a greek salad (whoa feta overload... a good thing IMHO), a chicken soup that i couldn't really put my finger on... it was lightly spicy and curry-ish... and pita (w plenty of personal tzatziki) The spanakopita was so crusty and flaky and the filling was just delicious... the rice was flavourful... okay the potatoes were a bit manky looking but still good... and the veggies... well, those could use some work too, but overall... 3.5*s for a very decent meal. the baklava was also well done -- not too sweet, but just sweet and nutty enough. read more

I was excited to come here because I've had their greek salad dressing and I love it. I came alone and was seated right away but in the back in the bar area. The server was nice and I ordered a simple greek salad with chicken and soup. I literally sat for 25 minutes before the server came back with my food...remember, soup and salad (oh and with chicken so that might have taken an extra 5 minutes). Boy was that 25 minutes long...no bread, no service, just sat there. I planned to wait another 5 minutes before leaving and my food finally arrived. My initial excitement deflated to an a-ok experience. Food was average and the soup was not even in my top 50. I love the dressing so I give the food three stars, and I did enjoy the pita bread that came about 5 minutes after my food. It was toasted nicely with butter. read more

I have been coming to Greek Islands for over 20 years and the food is exceptional. We now live in Philadelphia and every year or two we visit our family in Canada. Every year we come to Canada, we visit Greek Islands numerous times in the 10 days to two weeks that we visit. John, the owner is a great person and entrepreneur that always make sure he checks on the guests in the restaurant. I have tried almost every meal here over the years and have never been unhappy with the service or the food. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Greek food. read more

This place used to be our favourite. We just left there and had date night. The last 2 times haven't been good at all. First my cutlery was dirty then My Greek salad had soft stale cucumbers. The prawns were JUST cooked, borderline of being raw. The baklava u needed a steak knife to cut it. Terrible. We won't be returning. read more

I think the food here is OK. Nothing spectacular, nothing that sets it apart from other Greek places. The portions are a little subpar - not enough to give it a two star, but I thought about it. Correspondingly the prices for what you get is a little on the higher side (and no I don't expect Stephos portions and prices wherever I go). What it does have going for it is the decor. For a random location (remember - to me EVERYTHING in Abbotsford is a random location) you step inside, it's clean, there are different pockets of seating and I like the pictures hanging on the walls. The service was also nice and present. Back to to the food, though ... We got the Appy Platter and the Dinner Platter for Four. The Appy Platter is meant for two and at $27 it's a little pricey - and the only memorable thing off it for me was the Kalamari. The Greek Ribs were OK too. BUT if you're going to get a platter (aka Platter for four) stay away from this, as the ONLY thing it offers that isn't on the platter is the Greek Ribs. Talk about overkill. Perhaps our server could have saved us from same dish overkill by suggesting other things? The Platter for four at $79. What can I say ... I would say underwhelming portion, but we did leave with a doggy bag - probably due to two things ... same dishes as the appy platter, and some of the things on the platter were plain just NOT good (and I had a late lunch only three hours previous). The good , again, was the Kalamari. Tender pieces of squid, some of the best I've had anywhere. Homus was good too. The greek salad with some weird creamy dressing on it was surprisingly good. The roast potatoes were some of the best that I've had - very well done. The bad was we only got two small skewers of Chicken and Beef souvlaki. I understand you can't give four as that would mean one per person which is perhaps equal to a souvlaki dinner, but at least make them some more substantial skewer portions. The Thallasopita was disgusting. It was overly salted and looking into it, it just looked like it was stuffed with imitation crab (although it's supposed to have scallops, crab meat, baby shrimp, asparagus in it). Way to salty with an offputting taste (it was a consensus thought at our table). They say the roast lamb melts in your mouth. Ours didn't. I wouldn't say it was dry, but it was on the drier side, and we did get a big chunk of it, but I took one piece and was good with that. So nothing to write home about for sure. But we were with friends and that's really what matters. Would I go back by myself? If I was stuck in Abby - probably, because I went to a Chinese Buffet the last time around that almost made my stomach come out of my mouth. read more

A tough one to evaluate, as Vancouverites are blessed w/ the abundance of high-quality Greek restos w/ the huge communities: DT, Burnaby, westside Vancouver, etc. so for Abbotsford, it's pretty good, but for Vancouver standards, could be 3.5 stars. nevertheless, a great atmosphere & elegance; almost fine dining, but yet casual, hey it's Abbotsford. A fancy bar w/ 'clubbish' like bar lights along the counter & a mini-roof, stylish booths w/ gates as part of the walls, a bit of a rustic look so decor definitely deserves props. Roast lamb was good, big portions, veggies, and pita bread servings a bit smaller than Vassili's, and tzitzi sauce probably a notch below. Calamari was good too, though could've used some more red onions. Easy to recommend for a great place for friends and date-worthy. read more

This place is an Abby favourite! The people that run it are Yani, Yani & Yani (all directly from Greece) and they keep the food true to culture. Their greek salad dressing is to die for, and their greek potatoes are a secret family recipe that deserve an award. They have specials (Tue- Thur night - closed Mondays) that run around $13-$15 for a huge plate of food. Their portions are large - plus you get greek salad and a cup of soup with every meal. (But I still always have room for an extra side of potatoes) This is a great place for family dinner, date, or friends night out. read more

Ok, when I need lamb dinner roasted potatoes calamari with proper tzatziki and grilled pita this is where I come, amazing. When I need a special place to go - I come here...however that is not often because you need to come with a pocket full of money and when you leave it's all gone... The food - nothing to say beyond excellent, the decor is nice quaint and great for a couple, seating is close however. The food did I say excellent... The parking is always an issue as it's very limited and you usually end up in front of another business or the old gas station and you never really know if your car will be towed or not...very limited dedicated lot... Very average food, I have no idea why anyone would rate this establishment any higher except that the staff was very friendly. We had the platter for two that featured ribs that could have had some sort of flavour to remind me of Greece and not "grease", the kalamari was over cooked, the soup was greasy, and the Greek salad had some sort of custom creamy dressing I have never seen the likes of and the tiniest of tzatziki and humus portions. I love this restaurant! Ive been going to this restaurant as much as I can for about four years now and have never been disappointed with a meal. I bring friends, family, work associates and my boyfriend here all the time and no one has been less than pleased with the food. The atmosphere can work for many different situations. There are many sumptuous items on this menu but my personal favorite is the roast lamb, it falls off the bone, overwhelms your tastebuds and there is always simply too much for me to eat in one sitting. Look at it this way, I go to this restaurant, pay $18 + tip for my meal and I always get two dinners out of it. The Greek Island Restaurants are owned by a very nice family who are somehow always there and make a point to go up to each table personally to make sure that everything is satisfactory. The restaurant does have one fault I must admit, you must be prepared to wait to be seated. This place is very, very popular and in my experience even if you make a reservation you will be waiting for at least 15 minutes before you will be seated. Still, a must go. read more

My mom had been telling me about how much she enjoyed going to this restaurant so when she suggested it for dinner one night I decided to take her up on her offer. We got their early - which was a very good thing. 15 minutes later there was a line up. Our waitress was a sweetheart! We knew we wanted to order food items that could be shared so she suggested the platter for 4 (for the three of us) - which ended up being way too much food but that's never a bad thing, right? The platter came with everything - pita and dips, potato soup, your choice of greek or caesar salad, rice, potatoes, 3 types of spanikopita, dolmades, beef skewer, chicken skewer, kalamari and the best lamb that I've ever had. Overall the food was delicious, perhaps a little too fragrant but delicious nonetheless. I don't know if I would order the platter again but it was definately great value and would easily feed 5 people. read more

This my favourite Greek restaurant! I like how is not a big chain restaurant and that its family owned. Every time I come here I get excellent service and the food always comes out fast no matter how busy it is. You get so much food at a reasonable price. The soup you get with your meal is really good. There are only a few times that I haven't liked the soup. I love the Greek salad! Lots of feta cheese and the dressing is the best. For your main course your plate is full of food. You will not leave hungry that's for sure. read more
