As it turned out, I required dental attention during the Christmas-New Year's holiday, when most dentists are on vacation (most don't return to work until mid-January). I was referred to Dr. Sherriff by another dentist who was already on vacation, yet knew Dr. Sherriff also operated an after-hours practice. I called up the office, and left my name and number on their voice messaging system. Within an hour, Rebecca, the Principal Nurse and Administration Manager returned my call and made an appointment for me for that afternoon. Dr. Sherriff was very patient and allowed me to explain the nature of my concern. He conducted an examination and took an x-ray of the affected area. There was never any pressure to speed through the examination and he was most professional throughout. In my earlier telephone conversation, I alerted Rebecca of the prescribed oral rinse that I used. To her credit, by the time I visted the Dentist, she had already researched the brand and its active ingredients for disclosure to the dentist. All in all, I would heartedly return for additional dental services, and would recommend this office to anyone.

I was talked to pretty harshly and condescending regarding my teeth brushing and flossing skills. I'm all for learning to perform better, but not when someone is being rude about it. Returned days after due to excruciating tooth pain afterwards, and they said I pretty much had no choice but to extract my tooth. This day and age, and given how old I am, I thought that sounded pretty prehistoric. So I ring them up and do what she says, the appointment is all set, I turn up and I am quickly attended to, the dentist comes in and I have no idea if he is Mayank or not but he is very good, very gentle. He gives my teeth a check and amazingly says I only need a couple of small fillings, don't dentists always say you need about 50 of them. Anyway in 20 minutes I'm finished, no anaesthetic needed, I'm a brave girl. And when I go and pay, I ask the receptionist, was that Mayank, Yes it was Mayank, Oh thank god or my neighbour would have told me off I'm sure. Oh and very reasonable price too. If you need a dentist do come here, I think he also has a practice in Mairangi Bay.

Not Professional but very Arrogant and disrespectful. Even when Dr Nikita tried to resolve the issue, she was not allowed. This treatment was meted to us in spite of telling them that my husband was a heart patient and should not be upset as we are now advanced in age.. Bad Service. Bad Management. PLEASE NOTE the Good reviews are perhaps from their own staff eg. Jayen is also the name of their Practice Manager who reviewed only their practices at Stoddard Road and Point Chev. For the most part people don't like going to the dentist and probably because of the association of the two words, dentist and pain. At the very least if you're going to be experiencing pain you'll have nice surroundings here. The first time I came was for whitening. I am fortunate to not have any fillings or holes and had been wanting to give whitening a go. Unfortunately I was one of those people who experienced sensitivity and the treatment was painful (add to that the fact I had to watch the movie Boy one and a half times). My teeth did go a few shades lighter and the service I received was very professional and friendly. The great thing about Ponsonby Dentist is that they will give you a 20% discount if you book and pay online. I would say the television screens were a bonus too but that really depends what is playing.

It's pretty much a random selection, although I did pull up the websites of a couple (which again, don't much help with differentiating one from another). I chose Janice in the end because her website was comprehensive but mainly because of her location which works for us. I'm glad I did because it turns out she's really good. When I had orthodontic treatment as a kid in the 80s it involved extractions (in my case 8, yes 8 permanent teeth!) followed by braces, followed by a retainer. Years passed and thousands of (my parents') dollars were spent. Our experience with Janice started with photographs and x-rays followed by a thorough consultation with all the corresponding paperwork explaining the treatment plan and costs. Fees paid upfront get a discount and there are absolutely no hidden costs. We are now unlucky enough to have all three of our children under Janice's care but due to the technical advances and undoubtedly Janice's superior skills, it is looking like only one of our three will actually need braces. That's not to say we haven't had to spend money on expanders and retainers but with these alternative interventions we've hopefully saved not only heaps of dosh, but also the dreaded metal-mouth for two thirds of the short people in the house. I really can't recommend Janice highly enough; she is surrounded by a fabulous friendly and efficient team, her offices are lovely and her whole business is very kid-friendly which is important. Nothing is ever too much trouble and all appointments, including unplanned ones for unforeseen hiccups (my daughter's appliance proved particularly challenging in the early days) are all covered up front. It is actually relaxing.... My older daughter had really bad teeth. Twisted, teeth behind others, coming in sideways... bad bad bad.... Janice talked us through the treatment process. We asked lots of questions and Hanice took the time to not only answer my questions but my daughters too. First a plate for one year to create space for the adult teeth. 6 month break. Braces on top teeth for 1 year. Today she got her braces off.....amazing!!!!!!!!! Next week she will get a retainer then later braces on the bottom teeth. My younger daughter has bad anxiety and today had to go in to have spaces put in for a thumb stopper being fitted next week.... Mary (the lovely Scottish lady) said to my daughter who was freaking out "I have got the nicest nurse for you today - everybody loves her - here is Nina" my daughter went off holding her hand and a few minutes later returning all smiles and looking forward to her next appointment. They have a great payment plan too. I pay $200 per month and everything just gets paid off - I can't afford up front full payments and this was never a issue. I can not recommend Janice and her team more!
