The fully fenced enclosure is huge, with heaps of room for the dogs to run and play, trees to pee on and props to do tricks on. If they've ever had enough of that, there are great walks through the nearby bush, mangroves, or along the foreshore. We love it.

Just next to that is a barbecue area complete with tables, benches and gas barbecue which is also covered. On the other side if the playground is a dog run. And what a dog run for pooch. The fenced outer circle is an obstacle course for Fido. The inner fence circle is a mini oval which is the off-leash area. All of this is next to the Woodside rugby and soccer oval. She could tell you which park is suitable for different age group, which park has the cleanest BBQ areas or has the most shade or has easy parking or has the best slides. It's a real eye opener tagging along and watching how kids interact with the playground. Whoever designed the Hamilton playground has thought of everything. There are three different designated play areas. One area is clearly for toddlers because the steps are low enough for them to climb up and there are simple slides and seesaws low to the ground. There's an adventure style playground for the older kids (and short adults like me!) with a climbing net and flying foxes. What I was most impressed with was the miniature road set. My nephew was worried that it was a 'real road' and pronounced in a sing song voice that I should get off the road. Once I explained it was a 'pretend road', he happily raced around the track on a pretend motorbike breaking all the road rules but at least giving way to pedestrians. There's an off-leash dog area attached to the park. This looks like gambolling doggy fun with an obstacle course for the bigger dogs. And when you're tired of running around, pop across the road to Portside for a coffee and cake.

There's also an off leash dog park with a shaded table & chairs for owners and a few little 'trick' installations for more flexible puppies. Unfortunately my dog is rather small but believes she's rather big so we tend to avoid it as I never know when she'll bark at a rottweiler for taking her ball. The Newmarket Olympic Pool is on the edge of the park, so it's a great family area all round.

There is also playground equipment for dogs to challenge themselves with. When going to dog parks, I prefer having a place to sit in the shade, however, this dog park does not have this. There are picnic tables and chairs you can sit on, but there is no area in the shade. If you have a dog who's recently had a summer trim, then not only do you worry about yourself getting sunburn, you will have to be a bit more cautious of your dog getting sunburn. You will notice that this dog park is quite empty during the day time, even during school holidays. It only has visitors at dusk. If you come to this dog park, I suggest afternoons or evenings, otherwise be prepared and wear a lot of sunblock and a wide brim hat.

It's not a particularly attractive beach, but it's fine for dogs. I went there with my friend's two very energetic cattle dogs on a day when it had previously been raining and they loved the huge puddles. There are ramps and tunnels for those dogs/owners who are interested, a shelter with a picnic table and a number of park benches. Depending on where you live, the Nudgee off-leash dog park is a little far out, but it makes for a good outing, particularly with the beach there.

I am so glad this was turned into an amazing park and not another set of apartment buildings. The park is home to the Roy Emerson Tennis Centre which has 6 courts for hire and also has lessons. The playground area is packed on the weekends as it's an a amazing area for kids. While its way more advanced then for my 10month old there is still some great places for him to crawl around but I can see that the amazing rock climbing wall, huge slide and the curling slide would be heaven for any kid. There are 4 different bbq areas with 8 total BBQ that have picnic tables around them. There is decent shade for these areas but also a large grass are perfect for a picnic if you don't want to BBQ. Kids love circling the grass area on there bikes and scooters and it's all within the parents eyesight. There is also a table tennis table and some exercise equipment. Early mornings you may even have a boot camp or personal trainer working out there. Only wish there was a water feature for kids to play in but I guess with the past flooding that may have not have worked. Oh and there are toilets onsite and a cafe which I need to still check out.
