Although technically you're supposed to have a permit, but why let a little technicality stop you. The layout of the student lot is just plain weird. It doesn't follow a normal flow for a parking lot. And there's black, blend into the asphalt parking berms in the worst places. Let's put it this way, you need to pay attention or you're bottom out your car. Good thing I was paying attention... The stadium: Great job stadium design - no ones faces into the sun. But oh, it's freezing cold when the wind blows. And boy does it rip through that area like a mini hurricane. The girls locker room: This was huge and relatively clean. Lots of lockers and showers. Appreciated how the bathrooms were at the end of the building so that you don't have to walk through the locker room to reach them. One of the sinks was broken. I didn't take a photo. The teachers and staff are incredibly dedicated to teaching, the students, and exude an enthusiasm and confidence that is magnetic. Truly, everyone is so invested in the success of every student. I have observed on numerous occasions, staff and teachers encourage, embrace, applaud, support the diverse student base. The athletes, academic team, musicians, introverts, extroverts, are lauded in the same way. Everyone is valued. Every teacher is unique- in personality, skill set, mannerisms which helps to serve the diverse student body. It is a comfortable space for anyone to fit in or create their own space. Innovation, ideas, perspectives are encouraged. There is no right approach to learning. There is no wrong approach. It is truly a learning environment. Students are accountable with clear direction and expectations, tutors and counselors are always available, and goals, hurdles, requirements are defined well ahead. As students work to achieve those goals, materials is presented in many ways, with many formats, to allow for students with different learning styles and capabilities to succeed. Most importantly, the school is very invested in academic and personal success well beyond high school, in the community, in the workplace, in college, working toward creating independent, conscientious, resourceful graduates who will achieve well after graduation.

Expect bullying and intimadation from day one. While there's a bullying hotline (the problem is so rampant they had to create a hotline), you'll soon find that for every bully you call about, there will be 2 more to replace them. Teachers are fine, basically earning a paycheck to whatever minimum level the state requires. This is California, which academically isn't saying much. Principals were fine and did seem to care, especially with all of the "noise" that goes on here. Ultimately, I had to pull one of my kids out of Rincon and put them in a charter school. I highly recommend to all parents that if they have kids going into middle school in upper Escondido, they should get on a charter school waiting list as soon as possible. - Interesting to note that million dollar homes surround this school. However, through district incompetence, far away elementary schools are fed into Rincon. This impacts traffic, and those kids who have to walk to/from school have to go extra far, we're talking several mile long walks. - Look up Rincon Middle School bullying / drugs / fights on google.. this is NOT a safe school. - RIncon is a bad middle school sandwiched between several good schools (both elementary schools, Escondido High School, and Calvin Christian private school).

The responsiveness and communication that we received were top notch. I highly, highly recommend this school to students who are struggling with in-person school for any reason. I remember going to this school a long time ago. I remember how the teachers, faculty, and…read moreprinciple made me feel. They made me feel unwanted, and like an outcast. The teachers and faculty accused me of doing things I never did - such as masturbating in the classroom. They accused me of cheating, when I never did. The faculty at OGHS accused me of being high on drugs - when I was never once high on drugs. Eventually I was expelled for something I didn't do, and I had no way of proving that I didn't do it. I was so young - I was only 12. I felt bullied by the students - sure... That's normal. But I felt more bullied by the faculty at this school than I ever did by the students. That's what really hurt. Orange Glen High School made me hate school. OGHS made me hate learning. OGHS made me hate teachers. It wasn't until after I was expelled from this school that I started to love learning. I studied on my own, with no one to accuse me of cheating, or of masturbating in front of other students. I studied on my own, and worked hard... And today, I'm successful, have a degree, am becoming an astrophysicist, and make more money than most of the faculty there. Thanks for the memories, OGHS. Thanks for nothing.
