Ah the green peppercorn, in the city!!! So I frequent the green peppercorn in Fairfield fairly often, so I thought why not try the one in the cbd! So a group of friends and I walked up to the second floor. There was a person at the door with a wait list taking your name and you phone number, then leading you to the bar that is down the hall and will give you a call when your table is ready, The atmosphere is just as amazing as the Fairfield green peppercorn, and the menu is identical and the prices are the same. Did see that the portion sizes are a bit smaller but that's understandable for the quality of food and the location that they are in. Only down side was that the food was way to spicy. I have had the same dish at the Fairfield one (panang curry) and it was nice and mild with a hint of spice. The one I had here just blew my mouth away. But the fried rice was to die for. It helped even out the spicyness of the curry. Over all it's lovely the only reason I'm giving 4/5 is the spices they need to cut back a little otherwise it would of been perfect!

Love it! As a Westie at heart, I've been to their original restaurant at Fairfield multiple times but this was my first time to the city restaurant. A little busy on a Friday night but the wait for our table was only about 15 minutes or so and you can wait pleasantly in the bar area. Our primary goal was dessert so we were warned by one of our friends to not order too much for the mains. However, as usual, the eye is bigger than the stomach and we tried the laos sausages, ox tongue, fish cakes, fried rice, oyster sauce stir fry and salt and pepper calamari. Everything was spot on and the standout for me was the fried rice which was flavoursome (and in my opinion way better than Chinese fried rice) and not greasy at all. And then the moment we all had been waiting for... the fried ice cream - huge huge serving with caramel sauce. I went to bed on a Friday night at 10pm in a food coma state. But happy, so happy.

$8 for this non alcoholic beverage and half of it is ice!

In summary, just okay but the atmosphere was a let down. Not sure it is worth the hype. Food - reasonable prices but just okay. We had the green peppercorn stir fry and it was super salty. The fried rice was good though. Drinks - ordered 2 non-alcoholic drinks, each costing around $8. They were overpriced. Presentation looked good as they were tall glasses, but the half the glass was full of ice and they cut the straws in half and serve the drink with half a straw so it's difficult to drink. Atmosphere - dark, dingy, loud. It's inside a rowdy pub.

The food here is a m a z i n g !! My go to dish is the vermicelli salad because the flavour is so well balanced. The red curry is also a dish I am in love with! The atmosphere of this place is pretty noisy, but other than that it's a really nice place for lunch and dinner. The staff are very friendly, however I recommend bookings for dinner because it can get busy! Will I go back? YES! Love my vermicelli salad!

This is long overdue review. I always like the food here, tonight we ordered red duck curry, pineapple fried rice, chicken with basil and green peppercorns. Duck curry is always my fave, on top of that, the fried rice... Soooooooooo yummy. The chef cooked the rice with the hint of turmeric and pineapple chunks, makes a two humble ingredients become star of the dish. Chicken dish was really tasty, thai basil is the hero comes along the chicken as our main choice of protein for tonight. Move along to dessert, well... Where can I start?...... Those deep fried ice cream... To die for! Served with roasted coconut muesli and rich caramel (I'm guessing from brown sugar) sauce. Pandan cream brulee.... Soooooooooo unresistable creamy and texture so smooth... baked to perfection! Save the best for last, coconut lava dessert with mango sorbet, just a perfect way to end the hot summer night with happy ending! Oh yeah!!!

An oldie but a goodie.. One of the first Lao restaurants to pop up in Fairfield creating this area…read moreto be a hub for Lao cuisine. They keep it simple and traditional here with the usual Laotian fare and they do it pretty tantalisingly well! My mouth waters just thinking of of the spicy pungent flavours... It's an acquired taste but I can say that if I were on death row my last meal request would be a spicy Som Tum and Lao sausage. If you love your chilli and an amalgamation of sour, salty, spicy and sweet U will love Laotian cuisine. My recommendations: Som Tum: shredded ow paw salad with smashed cherry tomatoes and fermented crab. The textures, freshness and combination of all base flavours make this a definite staple and perfect accompany to all the grilled meats on offer Lao Sausage: wonderfully soft and slightly chewy bit crisp on the outside. Hints of lemon grass and Asian herbs Ox Tongue: grilled to perfection, thinly crisp with a succulent centre ready to soak up the salty spicy dipping sauce Chicken Feet Salad: sounds a little horrid but once you get past the whole chicken feet thing you'll find a refreshing, flavoursome and textural salad that will leave you with a new view of chicken feet. To accompany all this get a mini bucket of sticky rice to go with your meal, that's how the Lao do it! Ambience here is a little kitsch which denotes why it's 4 and not 5 stars but we're here for the food not the ambience.

My mom is a huge fan of pho so when she didn't see anything she liked at Spice Alley, we walked into this place. At first, it felt weird walking in because it is a pretty restaurant that has fancy décor and a kind of a dark, moody, romantic vibe. I felt all wrong about entering and the server was a bit disappointed to learn that we weren't dining in but she was nice about it. They do do take out so we placed our order and waited near by to pick it up and sit outside with the rest our groups meals. Lemme tell ya, expensive or not, they know how to make a great broth here. The chicken based broth was rich and delicious. Probably one of the best broths I've ever had with pho. The portion size of noodles, chicken and veggies was good as well. My mom liked it so much, she ordered it again the second time we came to Spice Alley. I forgot to take a pic but the containers they serve the take out in are sturdy and well insulated.

Fried Spinach Noodle w/ Seafood - 5/5 Handmade spinach noodles wok fried with prawns, mussels in shell, calamari, julienned carrots and fresh shiitake mushrooms. AMAZING!!! Those Spinach noodles...I would come here just for those! Delish! Can't say I had Spinach noodles this good before...My new benchmark! ~ HN07. Beef Brisket Noodle - 4.5/5 Handmade noodles served with slow cooked beef brisket and minced beef with diced fresh chilli. So much flavor, love the sauce! Once again...those noodles! This was probably a fantastic dish, but just got out shined by the Spinach Noodles. ~ MD04. Lychee & Mint Duck - 5/5 Our most popular roast duck with lychees served in a light mint and chilli plum sauce (half duck). I thought this sounded strange and didn't know what to expect...sooo glad I tried it! The flavor profile was just amazing. I thought the Lychee and plum would have mad the dish too sweet, but nope! That sauce is one of the best and most creative things I tasted. There is a Gluten Free option available as well! ~ MD09. Diced Salt & Pepper Wagyu Beef - 4/5 Flash fried, medium wagyu beef served in bite sizes with crushed black pepper and a black pepper dipping sauce. Brilliant Beef dish! Love it!! Even though Chefs Gallery is a fairly large venue, it's a popular spot and fills up fast. There were some dishes I didn't even get a chance to take a pic off. I would gladly return here. Honestly there wasn't a single dish here any of us detested or passed on...
