He's very ditzy and out there and seems like he has no idea what he is doing. He gave my daughter too much numbing medication and she had a strong reaction to it. Her hands cramped up, she was white as a ghost and he says "you're just messing with me". When it was clean she was not, he said "I might have gave her too much, I'll put it in the chart not to give her that much next time". You would think a DOCTOR would know better. Then I get something from my insurance company saying they're denied something which was weird since it covered everything. I found out they were trying to take on bogus charges hoping the insurance company wouldn't even look and just pay it. That is a scummy, scammy move! DO NOT GO TO THESE UNPROFESSIONAL SCAMMERS.

I didn't mind traveling from far away to be seen here because it was always a good experience. Not anymore. The chair was dirty the glasses were not cleaned off from the previous patient and the assistant didn't wear a mask. I cleaned the glasses with a bleach wipe after I washed them with water. I opened a new pack of cups and poured fresh listerine into the cup- they had a cup of listerine waiting for me but I didn't trust it because I had to clean the dental chair and the goggles they give you to wear. I definitely must find a professional clean establishment for dental work. This is no longer the place. I will never return or recommend this place again!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Philadelphia Advanced Dentistry was so…read moredisappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. I sought treatment for advanced periodontal disease and specifically wanted LANAP laser surgery because it is significantly less invasive than traditional osseous surgery. After searching extensively, I chose this practice because they accepted my Delta Dental insurance. During my initial consultation, I was told that my gums were severely infected and that I needed surgery immediately. I was also told that my upper and lower front teeth, along with two additional teeth, would need to be extracted. This surprised me because I had recently been evaluated by another periodontist who reviewed panoramic X-rays and recommended extracting only three teeth, all in different locations. The significant difference in treatment recommendations immediately raised concerns. Before scheduling surgery, I met with the billing coordinator and learned that although I was receiving LANAP laser treatment, my insurance would not cover it. The procedures were instead coded as osseous surgery so that my insurance would pay something. My total bill was $6,770, while my insurance covered only $1,260, leaving me responsible for the remainder. My first surgical appointment was equally concerning. Despite explaining that I have significant dental anxiety due to previous traumatic dental experiences, I did not feel adequately numb before additional injections were administered. When injections were given in the front of my mouth, the pain was intense. When I reacted, I was told to be quiet because there were other patients in the office. That response lacked compassion and only increased my anxiety. During the procedure, the dental assistant repeatedly rested her entire arm across my chest while suctioning my mouth, which made an already stressful procedure even more uncomfortable. The second half of my treatment had to be postponed after my aunt passed away and my 93-year-old mother became hospitalized while we were in Virginia. Instead of expressing concern or empathy, the office repeatedly emphasized that I had an infection and needed to return immediately. I understood the importance of treatment, but I expected at least a minimal level of compassion for a family medical emergency. My final appointment confirmed that I would never return to this practice. Communication from the dentist, Dr. Bartra, was minimal and often directed through the dental assistant even while she was standing in the room with me. For a procedure costing thousands of dollars, I expected my doctor to communicate directly with me. When I asked a simple question about whether I could resume using my electric toothbrush after surgery, I was told to "read your instructions" and to ask the assistant because "that's her job." I simply wanted reassurance that I understood my post-operative care correctly. When I attempted to explain that I only wanted to make sure I followed the instructions properly, I was interrupted and told, "Don't argue with me. I am the doctor." Being a doctor should reflect expertise, professionalism, and respect--not be used to silence a patient asking reasonable questions. As someone who also holds the title of doctor, I understand the responsibility that comes with it. Respect is earned through patient care, not demanded through credentials. When the appointment ended, Dr. Bartra removed her gloves, threw them away, and walked out of the room without another word. The interaction left me feeling dismissed, disrespected, and completely unimportant as a patient. As I was checking out, I was informed that I would owe an additional $100 because of appointments I had rescheduled due to a death in my family and my elderly mother's hospitalization. After everything I had experienced--and after already paying thousands of dollars--that was the final indication that this practice valued its policies and payments more than its patients. My concerns are not about the technical aspects of the procedure. They are about compassion, communication, professionalism, and respect. Patients undergoing periodontal surgery are often anxious, frightened, and vulnerable. They deserve to be treated with empathy and dignity. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Philadelphia Advanced Dentistry, and I will never return.

Dr. Weinstock and his dental assistant Nancy were incredible at addressing my concerns gently and straightforwardly. I was in their office at least 6 times throughout the course of my care, and each time they remembered to ask about my family, check in on my concerns, and assure me that I was doing well. My implant looks amazing (perfectly matches my other teeth) and the process never surpassed a 2 on the pain scale. If you are someone who deals with anxiety about dental care, I would strongly recommend choosing Dr. Weinstock and Nancy to be your care team.

Jamie the hygienist is a gem. First, she is the best listener. You might have no idea until you've been through it how many clinical professionals of all stripes and certifications don't know how to listen, especially if you have a rare condition. Jamie listened with patience and curiosity, took all my comments and concerns to heart, and integrated everything into individualized strategies for cleaning and home care. She is also research-literate and makes recommendations based on specific data from studies on Waterpik pressure levels for example. Jamie's skill is also impeccable, I left with the smoothest naturally white teeth of my life just from polishing and the ultrasonic scaler. During the whole time she adjusted water temperature and pressure according to my sensitivity level, applied topical anesthetic to more sensitive areas and checked in constantly about pain and modified technique instantly when needed. For anyone anxious about the dentist, she tells you exactly what she is about to do and why, so you are never surprised or talked down to and are fully included in decision-making. The little things really are the big things. To the practice, please know how tremendously valuable your hygienist is! Also, the pricing is really not worse than competitors in the area and what you are getting is trust and assurance in being treated well. Rhey are straight shooters and don't push you into anything unnecessarily or try to sell you on complicated package deals. Dr. Weinstock also seemed very kind and professional and I would trust him and this practice with any future needs.
