The lovely landlady will feed you up if you are not careful! I was having extra food foisted upon me all the time. She is very chatty too. Initially the grumpy Londener, that I have become in the 10 years in this city was bothered by this; I just wanted to sit, eat and slowly wake up. That's my problem though and I soon came round! I needed an hour between breakfast and leaving the hotel though, I was so full!

The staff are helpful and polite. The rooms can have some noise from the bars and clubs, but it wasnt to the extent that it kept us awake-you could hear it, but it was in the distance. If anything the noise of police sirens was the main thing which disturbed us, but its a city what do yu expect? The ony negative is there is no car park, but there is one very close which has security cameras and seems well lit. I have left my car there loads and never had any problems, but it can be expensive if you are staying for several days

The owners are lovely and cater for you ever way possible my son 11 years old classes as his home from home ! Waiting staff are v nice not 1 bad un and 1 been there Years ! Coach drivets 1st ckass also , There are many that go back time n time again ! For the price inclusive of Travel and bed breakfast eve meal don't think u could get that many places in this current climate ! Will defiantly be goin again n again Corner crew forever

Food was good, though fairly basic with limited choice, but with good sized portions and well cooked, service was first class with staff always helpful and friendly. The hotel a little run down with bedrooms in need of decoration and general refurbishment, but all the essentials in good order and clean, towels and bed linen brilliant white. Good functional TV provided plus tea making facilities with generous supplies. A well stocked bar with good entertainment was available, mostly bingo but never the less a happy atmosphere. One wall of the dining room covered with Thank- you cards and the guest book at reception full of favourable comment. If you are prepared to turn a blind eye to the scruffy bedroom décor, then this should prove an ideal location for a basic and cheap holiday break.

I work in…read morePlymouth so to save money I used my work accomodation, and my Wife Stayed at Poppy's to be with her friend. The Owner had recently taken on the guest house, in 2008, and was in the process of renovating it. The location is Near to the Hoe and Park Areas, and 5 Minutes walk from town. Parking is on street with Parking Meters, Free after 6pm until 0900 on Weekends. The rooms were Basic, but adequately equipped, My Wife had an En-Suite Dorma with rooftop views towards the town centre. Her Friends room was similar. Breakfast I can testify was excellent as the Lady Owner kindly accomodated me for breakfast with My Wife and her friend. the Price was extremely competitive, and once the owner has finished renovating (probably done by now as this was 2008), it will be a very convenient place to stay. I did take a pack of business cards for distribution at my place of work as a favour to the owner, and I stand by the decision.. Very Pleasant.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful; they have even laundered my clothes for free (on request, of course). The English breakfast was delicious and nutritious (+3kg of body weight for 1 week). Location is good for Paignton - close to the sea/ocean (1-2 min walking) and to a bus station. Though, it is a bit far (for walking) from the attractions of Torquay, but you can take a bus or drive yourself.

Just off the A38 from Exeter, it was perfect located just a few miles from the hospital It's right next door to a Beefeater restaurant, where the breakfasts are served. Parking can be tight in the evening due to the restaurant. An alternative for food is to nip to the large Sainsbury supermarket just across the road Check in was quick and efficient and the staff were always there with a cheerful greeting every time I walked past reception My room was large with a comfortable bed. I think they're trying to go upmarket a little with a choice of firm pillows on the bed with softer pillows available in the cupboard.
