The tiangges of Greenhills have always gotten a good rap, and though I'm pretty sure you can get a lot of the same stuff elsewhere and likely for cheaper, its hospitableness and its relative tidiness is probably why it's so much more palatable and attractive to most. This is especially more noticeable with Greenhills's renovation, with everything around it being modernized and beautified, but with the tiangges remaining pretty much the same.
An experience here is never quite the same, because unless you've somehow mapped the whole place in your mind (and I've lived near the area and regularly gone to Greenhills my whole life), it's always going to be the confusing, cramped mess that I love. If you find something you like--be it apparel, bags, shoes, jewelry, gift items, etc.--you have to try to create landmarks for yourself if you plan to come back for it.
A lot of the stalls really just sell much of the same stuff, but it's always a fresh breath of air when you find stores that only focus on a certain genre of items, like one that sells only socks, another that only has white tops, or one that only has boxes and bags and gift wrapper. A couple of stores even had Deaf proprietors, which was a nice experience and I got to practice my sign language a bit.
It can get exhausting and claustrophobic, but the beauty of it is that the rest of snazzy Greenhills is just outside---when you somehow find the exits that is. If you like a little chaos with your shopping like I do, the tiangges in Greenhils are always a fun romp to partake in. read more
