Having located yet another fancy, animal-free restaurant in Gold Coast, I tried it and was mildly disappointed by how good it was. I say disappointed because it is fairly expensive, but I suspect I will have little choice but to come back.
The location is south of the main city of Gold Coast, but is highly transit-accessible, with stops for both the quick and the slow buses that run along the coast, plus another bus that runs straight to the train line all within a block. It filled up when I was there; this isn't a quiet place. My befuddlement is ongoing, but whatever secret local business owners have discovered to making hip, moderately high-end vegetarian restaurants popular, I wish they'd spread it to the rest of the world.
That being said, what this place actually has is a small menu with a variety of crepes, pancakes, wraps, and salads. The crepe I got was rice-based and covered in various plant-y garnishes, but I was also happy to discover that the interior was chock full of tofu (I've seen so many places skimp on the protein in my lifetime). I made it a substantial way through before realizing that the flavored soy sauce on the side would make it even better. The lemonade I ordered for some reason was sparkling and very strong; a tasty, if costly complement. On my next visit, the chickpea-based flatbread I got was rather disappointing by comparison, not as substantive and I wasn't a fan of their choice of vegetables.
I could imagine them expanding their menu, or growing their business, but other than that I'm not seeing a ton of reasons to be critical. read more
