This is a delightful shop with a wide range of greenstone (pounamu). It's worth a stop even to look around. There are all kinds of jewelry and a few incredibly large specimens on display. It's not cheap, but you can see the quality. The staff is friendly and helpful. I came in with a special request. I have a grand-nephew who loves stones, and I wanted to get him something that would be special, specifically for him -- not jewelry, but a rock with character and a story. The craftsman found just the right stone and polished it for me in just the perfect way so my grandnephew could see both aspects of the stone (it is now the favorite in his collection). This is what pounamu should be -- something with meaning and a story that brings with it a special sense of place. read more

Established in 2019.

Greenstone Shop was started out of a mutual love of New Zealand Pounamu between local Ngai Tahu registered carvers Allan Moreton and Dean Taylor. Louise takes care of all our wonderful customers.
