It's a beautiful library with all the latest innovations and when the book return works it's a brilliant idea. It's just extremely frustrating when the library is closed and the book return is broken because there's absolutely no way at all to return a book which is the last thing we do before we fly overseas. read more

This is a beautiful library; BUT the staff leave much to be desired. They do NOT and WILL not go above and beyond to assist you . . .minimum, if that. And forget about asking for assistance, for anything, before they close. They are just waiting to close the door and shut off the lights. They will use the time before close to walk around asking each other, can we do this, do we have time before we close . . . as you stand there waiting for one of them to simply fill the request and assist. . . Then, OOPS, it is 6pm - nothing works now, sorry, time to go - and they walk away without concern . . .SMH. More customer service and staff training needed, for sure. read more

This is a beautiful library with wonderful resources, a beautiful, open-concept facility, and awesome natural light for reading. However, it is the LOUDEST library I have ever been to! I have been there many times at different times of the day, and every time it's just plain LOUD. I understand that little kids can be noisy sometimes. That's not the issue. The issue is that the librarians are also the loud ones, not modeling quiet "library voices." Parents in the children's area were also using regular-volume voices with their kids, like it was a giant play date in there. So, naturally, the kids are not given a model of proper library etiquette. From the opposite side of the library where the giant (beautiful!) windows are, you could hear the people's conversations at the circulation desk. Kind of disappointing. Be sure to bring earbuds or noise-cancellation headphones if you need to concentrate while reading or studying! Or sit in the "quiet room" at a table, if there is space, but you won't get to sit by the giant window. read more

I've finally had a chance to visit the Five Forks branch of Greenville Library. I LOVE LIBRARIES. I grew up going to the library at least once a week. As a parent, we would take our children to the library to check out books, movies, music, etc. Now, with children grown, we still go for audiobooks too. Great way to get work done if you work at home since chores or food from the pantry tend to call for your attention. The building is very spacious. The ceiling is very warehouse-like so there's that ventilation sound in the main area from people talking which I personally find a tad annoying, but hey, call it white noise. There are separate rooms - teen area, I didn't go to other side, but there must be a children room as when I arrived a bunch of toddlers and young kids were coming with their happy moms to the circle time activity. There's a Collaboration Room, like a meeting room which you probably can reserve. I went to the Quiet room which had chaises and some tables that were all taken. I believe in the opposite side, there were private rooms that could be signed out, as someone I knew was registering for that. Great to see a window that allows people, but especially the kids, to see how the books come from the counters, and go into the bins. It took some extra time for this branch to open, but so nice that it did. We needed one in this area and very thoughtfully designed. Various events are scheduled that are broken down for kids, teens, and adults. I now understand why Hubby goes to this library almost every day. His own big office! read more

Absolutely worth the wait. This library is equipped with everything to excite kiddos and adults. Perfect for kids and families to break away and explore great reads. Our littles stayed busy for over 3 hours...time flew by so quickly. We spent most of our time in the kids area where we read books and out littles played games. Mamas- if workers see you struggling with 2 out of 3 kids, they will make sure to make it a point to not help you, but embarrass you. Absolutely awful experience, will never go back. Very sad to even write this as I am a teacher and love libraries. This one though, I do not like at all and overall just disappointed. read more

Five Forks library staff have poor attitudes, are very rude and even confrontational. The library workers actively try to deter community members from utilizing the library as a resource. On any give day you can walk in and see 75% of the staff playing on their personal phones. The library staff regularly greet library patrons with nothing but a dirty look. That is, if they do happen to glance up from their personal phones while they are working. If you are available to go to another library in the area I would highly suggest you do so. read more

Beautiful new library. I have been waiting not so patiently for this one to open because it is slightly closer to my house than the Fountain Inn or Simpsonville branch. It was originally supposed to open in January but delay after delay pushed back the opening to late March. Of course everything is brand new. The furniture is modern and looks European in its sleek and clean appearance. There are vibrant colors that once again resemble a Scandinavian coffee shop. There is a separate quiet room with plenty of electrical outlets. Believe me, if you need some quiet time, you will not find it in the general area. It was very loud in there, and this was at 1pm on a Wednesday. Kids and parents being boisterous. I nearly left the sunlit open common area to go in the secluded quiet room, but couldn't bring myself away from the nice view at the back looking out onto Woodruff Rd. It seemed like every book in the place was new, but I know that cant be the case. Very nice library with all of the modern appeal needed and wanted. read more

Beautiful facility, helpful employees, but is by far the noisiest library ever! Very frustrating coming to work on a project, attempting to get away from a chaotic home to find your library is just as chaotic. Very surprising & disappointing. Why can't the staff ask people to be considerate and use their "library voices"!!?? read more

My kids love the children's section. The games and books and chairs make it a quiet place to go if it's too hot or raining out. It has been a lifesaver while school is out. They have great computers for the kids and adults alike and a drive thru! read more
