I unwittingly went on Boxing Day (who knew that UK's Boxing Day is like the US's Black Friday??!!! I must've been living under a rock all these years!!) and this place was wild with tourists shopping over each other. But the staff have the patience of saints. I'd have lost my marbles if folks behaved like this at a store. They didn't bat an eyelid and kept helping everyone through the chaos. I have mad respect for them!

Hello tourist central!…read more Popped in after work to get a tea pot and some mugs for my tea-monster of a boyfriend and to be honest the experience was a bit of a disaster in terms of being stuck in a TINY shop in a swarm of tourists all trying to work out which English teas to take home as souvenirs. The service was very slow although I'm pretty sure it was the girl on the till's first day so I can't be too mean about that. On the plus side I found exactly what I wanted and there is another store just a stone's throw away on Lower Regent Street which is slightly larger and was, at the time I popped in, less crowded. Expect this shop to be busy at all times - it's extremely small and they're in one of the most popular tourist areas in London, right next to Piccadilly Circus. Let's face it - tourist of local - everyone loves a cuppa tea!

I actually mentioned one of these stores, hoping the server might try to employ any form of salesmanship at all, but instead he barked "why don't you go and ask them". I will be returning to one of their rivals to buy a ring next week and would highly recommend anyone else avoids Bentley and Skinner at all costs. In my experience both Hancocks or Deakin and Francis seem to actually value their customers. The staff member I encountered here should try a different job.
