My husband and I have wanted to build a family home for years. The challenge was in finding an…read morearchitect who could understand our desire for a classically correct Stone Georgian. In a world of mcMansions, fake siding and faux details, we met dozens of "sham-itects" who wanted to create a Disney-esque version of our dream....we were frustrated and ready to hire a proper English architect who could understand our vision, when we met Ron Gushue. Ron is a true gentleman, and I can honestly say he is as good as his word. It's an unusual quality in the realm of home building. He was not only a master of his craft, he truly understands the difference between quality and sham design. Ron built a home not only for us, but for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. How many architects can say that today? It took a few years, but we have a home with architecturally correct detailing; a stairway inspired by the Petite Trianon, and the type of details not usually seen in this country. Ron created custom moldings throughout the house, found antique white oak floors from Belgium, and created a "man's world" for my husband with a walnut office paneled floor to ceiling and a Sapele Mahogany Library & Billiard room! For me, it's all about the understated elegance and old world charm. This house looks as if it's always been here; it's part of the landscape and I look out of my mahogany windows and see a future of Easter lawn parties with my (yet unborn) grandchildren. Ron did a fantastic job and I cannot recommend him highly enough!

He gave a wonderful, gentile touch to my drab contemporary colonial by designing a porch, a curved garage door, window moldings, a new roof and color palette. In addition to his design talent, experience and professionalism, he is truly a great listener, who works around the client's ideas and wishes, while infusing an incredible amount of enthusiasm, excitement, even, into his projects. He was also great as a liaison with the contractor, and was able to smooth over differences and misunderstandings when they arose. I hope he still has some time for us when we call him with our next project!

He took a large space and made it every square inch functional for our family. The finished product is absolutely beautiful and I am so happy in this space! In addition to our kitchen, we were working with Scott to do an addition of our upstairs to include a master bath suite and closet as well as adding a fourth bedroom. Scott was very much involved with every aspect of the "leg work". He attended countless meetings with our General Contractor, recommended a fantastic structural engineer, and worked closely with the surveyor. After hearing our initial concerns, Scott advised us against doing this addition as he felt that it would not be a good return on our investment. I was so very impressed by his honesty! He knew this would be a decision we would regret and he was right! Scott has wonderful ideas and insight and listens to his clients to provide the best possible solution that will fit your needs! He is prompt and responsive in his communications and delivers drafts to you on their deadline (if not before!). Choosing Scott as your architect means you will work with an experienced, honest and trust worthy professional who has your best interests in mind!

We had seen his work and were attracted by his designs. His initial concepts were right on the money and he transformed a small 60 year old shack into our dream home. But the reason I recommend Matt is not so much his designs (he really does some beautiful work) but his hands-on approach. He was very involved throughout the entire process and we always felt we had an advocate looking out for us until the end, even after he was fully paid. It is clear Matt loves what he does and gets very involved in making sure the project is done right and his clients are taken care of. Yes there were times it was hard to get him on the phone as one of the other reviewers complained about; I think he spreads himself thin due in part because he is so hands-on, but our experience was anything but bad. He was there when we needed him, far beyond our expectations, and continues to be a resource anytime we have a question or need a referral.

Matt and his entire team greatly exceeded my expectations and continually over delivered. Their level of detail cannot be described in words and is better suited for the pictures of the gorgeous projects they have been responsible for. I have and will continue to recommend him to friends and family many of which who used him and were more than pleased. Matt and his entire staff gave us a beautiful home. This architect is disgustingly unprofessional and more importantly, a bad person. He was 15 minutes late to our meeting, walked in while I was speaking to his co workers, Jasmine and Dong, and was completely dismissive about the entire meeting. When I started to ask him about the next steps to move forward, like how to pull permits and the pricing for the design, he completely FLIPPED out telling me why would he pull permits when that's the contractor's job? I was a bit taken aback since my previous architect pulled permits alongside my contractor. He then started to allege that I use unlicensed contractors. I started to wonder what he was getting at and why he was being such a rude jerk. He then had the nerve to pull out the BIS gov website and ask me about the contractor I used and the address. When I tried to tell him the architect firm, he got very angry and said why would I care about the architect? HELLO! You asked who pulled the permits! He found my previous project and everything was up to code. This guy is disgusting. There is NP way he's a legit architect because he doesn't have any skills on how to speak to clients. Stay away. You can find architects who pull permits alongside the contractors. This means he has very bad relationships with the DOB.
