I visited last year and loved it. Went back on a special trip, wayyyy out of our way this past Tuesday and everything said open including a sign on the road which read "Open- Walk ins welcome" Went inside. No one. Waited for 20 to 30 mins. Walked around. Called the phone number. The lights were on and the music playing but not a soul on the property inside or out. Very strange. They also don't sell any of their wines locally so I couldn't buy anything sadly. Wine is good but like wtf? read more

We made a special trip to pick up some wine a friend had previously purchased, and relied upon their website for hours. Open every day but Wednesday..great, this was Tuesday. Arrived at 2pm, no one around..staff OR customers. Since we had driven out of our way quite a ways to do this favor, we waited. Over an hour. Met a group who had come from Sacramento while we waited..they said they first came by around 1pm, returned around 2:45. We waited a bit longer, after having made several calls trying to contact winery staff, to no avail. That other group left, and we left too, around 3:15. Not sure about the reason, but the winery is going to have to ship it to our friends at THEIR expense. Too bad, was looking forward to tasting their wine. read more

We had such an enjoyable experience tasting with Stacey at Greenwood Ridge Vineyards. She was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to about life and the wines. All the wines were delicious! My favorite was the Syrah and the Fog Dodger. We walked away with five bottles. The bridge and pond were an unexpected surprise, as well as all the ducks and dog that greeted us when we walked in. We received some great recommendations from Stacey for our Fort Bragg trip. Will be back. read more

Excellent wines (especially pinot noirs) and beautiful grounds with a pond, willow tree, picnic area. Friendly staff. You can buy a sandwich or gourmet picnic stuff in advance in the nearby town of Boonville (Mosswood Market for sandwiches, Disco Ranch for gourmet stuff) and then eat it with a bottle of Greenwood wine at the picnic area -- heaven on a pretty day. Then go for a walk in the redwoods in very nearby and enchanting Hendy Woods Grove redwood park and work off the wine before driving home. We joined the wine club and get significant price reductions. The winery also puts on a very nice buffet spread for "pickup parties", with music. read more

Located along the beautiful California highway 128 lies their charming estate, with the most adorably rustic barnyard exterior and picturesque vineyard views. Their outside grounds are truly captivating! So many places to lounge out while catching some summer sun. Their indoor tasting room is quite the eye catcher as well. They've got a wall full of award winning medals and rightfully so. The wine here is just something like a dream. If you're a fan of red wines then you will LOVE what Greenwood Ridge has to offer. They are apart of the Wilson Artisan Wines Family, so you should definitely expect nothing but the best! When I last visited the tasting room, Bonnie was holding down the fort and she did it well! Loved her bubbly personality and her extensive knowledge about the wines. Simply put, I enjoyed EVERY single wine that I tasted. However the standouts for me were their deliciously refreshing Viognier and their super tasty Mendovino. I had to take a bottle of their Mendovino home with me as it was just too good to leave without it. One of the most enjoyable wine tasting experiences that I've had while tasting in the Anderson Valley for sure! Greenwood Ridge is so underrated. I had the pleasure of visiting here on a quiet winter day with a friend -- we had a very relaxed wine tasting with our knowledgeable server. It is a gorgeous building -- high ceilings, timbers and the christmas tree had dried citrus slices and twinkle lights. The ducks on the pond toddled back to their roost / duck house and provided a bit of a show for us, too. Most importantly - delicious wine! read more

Great winery. Great grounds. Dog friendly. We charged our Bolt on their free electric car charger while the non-drivers tasted a variety of wines, then enjoyed a picnic lunch. I have been a fan of Greenwood Ridge wines since the early 90's. I was introduced to them by one of my early mentors in the wine business. Back then, I really enjoyed their Pinots and ZInfandel. A few years ago, when my in-laws asked me for some recommendations for wineries in Anderson Valley that they could hit as they passed through the area on a trip up to Oregon, I mentioned Greenwood Ridge. They stopped in - and became club members! They were eager to take my wife and I there on this, our first trip up to Anderson Valley. It was the first winery we visited. Glad we did! Rainbow was our hostess. She is great - friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I got lost on the way into town and so we were late for our appointment, but Rainbow greeted us with warmth and acceptance - no attitude for being late, which we appreciated very much. The setting is nice and the wines were just as solid as I remember - though the winery has seen some changes in ownership and winemaking teams in the years since I first tasted their wines. Definitely worth a stop! read more

Beautiful place to relax and wine taste. They are one of the wineries that don't require a reservation. They have ducks, a very friendly dog that our dog played with, and very tasty wines. We didn't catch the name of the lady that poured our wines but she was wonderful. Highly recommend stopping here. read more

We stopped in to taste on a whim...saw the winery from the road and it looked so inviting and serene...with the ducks enjoying a shower from a sprinkler and waddling around the grassy area of the outdoor tasty space. A few other guests were sitting under the umbrellas enjoying the warm afternoon. We tasted delicious pinot, sparkling wine and syrah. The other guests were enjoying the beautiful wines and lovely views and we comfortably chatted and learned more about the wines and vineyard. The pinot was so good and reasonably priced...we actually stopped by on our way back to pick up additional bottles! The bridal party and I had a great time at Greenwood Ridge Vineyards. Because we were there on a cold winter's Monday, we were the only ones there and had great quality time with the woman who worked there. I apologize that I can't remember her name.. I'm a lightweight and was already feeling it from the previous vineyard visited. The Maid of Honor couldn't drink anymore as she felt a little ill, and the woman was so nice to give her hot water, lemon, and honey. The rest of the bridal party did the wine tasting, and I enjoyed their wines. I bought a bottle of their Zinfandel. The property surrounding the beautiful building is gorgeous! The scenery is the perfect backdrop for professional pictures. The space would be a great spot for a party, especially with the string lights that go around the area. The woman also gave us suggestions on visiting other vineyards/wineries in the area. The bridal party and I felt really welcomed at Greenwood, and I look forward to visiting this place soon. read more

I needed a day out of the city so my roommate Travis and I decided to take an impromptu trip and drive to somewhere that was anywhere but the city. (Yea I wasn't being very picky). We stopped by the Greenwood Ridge Vineyards (suggested to me by a friend) and I'm sure glad we did! When i think of wine I tend to think of two things: 1) Good 'ol Charles Shaw Two Buck Chuck that tastes like... well i usually hold my breath so i won't have to taste it... or 2) a wine tasting, where you get about a sip of wine given to you by a man or woman with a lot of wine knowledge and a little extra pressure added in that makes you feel obligated to buy. The Greenwood Ridge Vineyard was neither of the two. The tasting room is modeled like a yurt, with bold color accents that gave it personality, and outside is a beautiful bridge, also accented with color, which offered a very serene and peaceful scene--a great break from the city! We actually brought our lunch and ate it on the balcony. The woman working behind the counter was friendly and casual, but not in a I'm-being-friendly-so-you'll-buy-some-wine way. It was more like she was welcoming us into her home. We had great conversation and tried some great wine. We learned about some of the history of the vineyard and were able to just relax in the beautiful scenery. Great day in Philo. read more

I used to love this place. It was the very first wine club I ever joined. Wilson wineries are all great, but the management at this location has gone completely down hill. I've been trying to contact them regarding my membership for months now. No one has answered my calls or returned emails. Don't waste your money on this scam winery. read more

The grapes are grown on a ridgetop, at 1,400-foot elevation. The tasting room is housed off of Highway 128 within an octagonal pyramid fashioned from a single, 400-year-old redwood tree that fell on the ridgetop. Greenwood Ridge has some of the most beautifully designed bottles I have seen. Staff is friendly but can be a bit pushy about joining the wine club and signing up for the email list. This is one of our favorite stops on the way up to the Mendocino Coast. We like them for their consistently tasty wines, their friendly staff, their commitment to the environment (they are a net solar power generator) and most recently, for their installation of Level II and fast DC electric car chargers (we can charge our car there) which are available for free to customers tasting or buying wine. A recent poster commented unfavorably about their 100 Point Pinot. Granted, they engaged in a little shameless self-promotion by so naming their own wine. However, we tasted and bought a couple of bottles and it really is a good wine having spent extra time in French oak barrels. read more

This place is beautiful. Authentic and unique in character, the tasting room is indeed made out of the remains of a fallen redwood tree. It's amazing. The hostess was informative and sweet, turns out she used to live within mere blocks of where we live now, what a coincidence! I was captivated by their bottling, with a gold dragon on the label. Some great whites and a wonderful late harvest reisling. Fortunately, they weren't too pushy with us regarding joining the wine club. I even bought a bottle of olive oil since the bottle was so beautiful. The grounds are lovely, and a perfect pit stop on Highway 128 for a picnic or stroll with your lovah. I especially enjoyed the seated area along with the mini bridge right behind the tasting room. Gorgeous. read more

This is a very worth-while winery to stop along the road from highway 101 to highway 1 on the Mendocino coast. Beautiful setting and lots of space to enjoy a relaxed wine tasting moment, even with all the precautions required for COVID 19. Stacie, the manager, was extremely helpful and welcoming, and allowed us lots of time for questions, gave us plenty of samples, and helped us find a perfect set of wines to take home. The wines were very well-balanced and well-presented, as expected with a Wilson Winery; very nice wines! We also met the flock of ducks and checked on the vegetable garden .... and, very special, there is a no-charge electric vehicle charging station for patrons to use! Altogether, one of the Wilson's more memorable wineries to visit! We will stop again! read more

Gorgeous is truly the word. Gorgeous grounds, a tasting room made from a redwood tree that fell down (no cutting!) on the property. Look at the pictures of the redwood. We're talking drive-your-car-through sized redwood. A little bridge over a pond and a seating area on a small island in the pond, and a beautiful day. It doesn't get any better than this . . . and the bottles, with the Chinese dragon imagery on the label, are gorgeous. Our server was friendly and it turns out she lived just one block over from where I live now, but 2 decades prior. It was interesting to hear her take on the neighborhood between then and now. The wines were numerous and the Zin and Late Harvest Riesling were notable. Well worth the trip! read more

100 Pt Pinot Noir?!? I don't really care about point values for wines, but the big sign saying 100pt Pinot Noir on the gates caught our eye. We pulled in and found that it was the name of the wine! Seriously, they named one of their wines "100 Point" as a joke. We were kind of annoyed by that. Apparently it was a good wine. I wouldn't know as it was not available for tasting! We were offered a different wine instead that was "the same", but in the same breath was told, "the 100pt came from the same batch but was aged an extra 6-8 months in new french oak, and it changes it completely." Not exactly "the same" then, is it? The rest of the wines were ok. Decent wines, but nothing like some of the others we had in Anderson Valley. This was the only winery we left without a couple bottles in hand. I give it a one for my annoyance of the 100pt wine advertised and then not even having this fake 100pt wine available to drink. The grounds and tasting room were beautiful though. read more

My niece and I decided to do some wine tasting during COVID soft reopening. We were so lucky to find Greenwood Ridge Vineyards and Stacie, the awesome manager! Even though CDC guidelines wouldn't allow us to enjoy the tasting room, Stacie went out of her way to make sure we had a great time sitting outside tasting their fabulous wines. I couldn't recommend this tasting experience more, especially during a pandemic with so much uncertainty. I promise Stacie will make your day! read more

What a great way to start the New Year. Stacy treated us to the fantastic range on offer and shared the amazing story of this Frank Lloyd Wright tasting room built from a single tree. We loved the Sauvignon blanc, the Riesling, the lovely late harvest dessert Riesling and the amazing Jepson brandies. Well worth a visit. Can't wait to see what they do with the place! read more

This was the first time i have drove along route 128 and i must say, it was spectacular! Who knew? Anderson Valley?! We dropped by here spontaneously. This vineyard looked huge and maybe like they would let our dog inside and lo and behold they let our little shih tzu inside the tasting room. Note: This usually is against health code if the tasting room serves food. The tasting here is free though small. We tried about 5 wines (2 desserts) and ended up buying two bottles: a sauvignon blanc and merlot (double gold winner). Their bottles are beautifully designed with dragons as well as their wine glasses which we bought as well. There is some outdoor seating as well with a relaxing view. The best part about this winery: non-pretentious and welcoming. read more

The wines were okay during our last visit. Visiting Greenwood Ridge brought back some good memories. The property alone is very inviting and the staff, always, friendly. So, back to wines..nothing they were pouring during out last visit excited us. The "controlled" pour is always a turn off with us, especially, when your paying for a tasting. We were really excited to come back because in the past we have had some great wines Pinots, Zins and Chards. Again, love the property...but seeing all the "State Fair" ribbons really out dates the tasting room...they had that back in the late 90's. I gave it 3 stars because of the great memories. The wines this time around not so exciting, but we did come back and brought friends, we enjoyed the property. read more
