We'd gone into Marks and Spencer, but the price ranged a little high for the quality we were looking at. We tried Primark, but really only as a sort of last ditch effort, and despite the affordability their suits just oozed tacky cheap nasty. Argh! Then we saw Burton. Would Burton solve our problems? Why, yes - yes they would. We went upstairs and wandered over to the suit selections. At first glance it didn't seem like there was much in the way of choice, but then we realised for the 7 or so suits we could see, each one could have been a winner. We thinned it down to a choice of two and in the end opted for the dark steel grey suit, white shirt, grey silk tie and a lovely pair of black leather shoes. Would you believe it? They had a deal on so that the whole lot cost about £150. Fantastico! And the lady who guided us was so helpful and entusiastic, she surely deserves a mention too.

One of the best thing about Burtons is they always have sale items out and they often run offers on their website of free delivery and such. Burton cater for casual and smart clothing, with a range of cool t-shirts and jeans and smart fitted suits. They also have a good selection of shoes. The staff are friendly, often asking if you need help, and the service is quick at the till.

A better job could not have been done in creating an attractive decor. Exposed brickwork, boldly patterned wallpaper and dramatic baroque mirrors suggests an underlying confidence in the quality of their clothes. Catering for both men and women, the garments are mainly designed by Alex, the owner of the shop. He speaks animatedly about his passion for fashion, the love and attention he puts into making the clothes is evident. They have a funky style. There are some lovely dresses with gathered hems next to dressy racer back t-shirts; some sheer, floral camis for bed, next to some knee-skimming low crouched trousers. Originality created by independent designers does slightly increase the price of the garments, but that is an inevitable consequence. Let us unite to support local talent such as this, against the constant onslaught of chain shop mediocrity.

I noticed it pop up relatively recently...probably less than a year ago (though I have a poor sense of time!). It is uber fashioney and would appeal to people who like to dress in unusual and striking clothing with a unique look. It's a small shop selling both women's and men's clobber. Men's stuff seems to specialise in giant collars and unusual fastenings as well as low-crotch trousers with long ties knotted around the ankles. Women's wear features similar trousers, some in vintage-style hound's tooth and cheques (which I love) and I like this slightly unisex edge to their offering. There are also quirky little waistcoats for women featuring leather buckle fastening as well as cute freeform tartan dresses and long confusing tops that you'd have to try on to figure out. Prices are understandably higher than average high street as the shop features underground labels and fashion-forward pieces...with trousers around £80. There is a lot of attention to detail in Each To Their Own as well as a love of unusual design and eccentricity, which unfortunately is often lacking in the often brand-name centric offering of many Leeds' clothing shops.

They have a huge selection of jeans, shirts, jumpers, accessories, underwear, footwear and tshirts. There is an escalator to go downstairs to the store but it is only steps to get back up which are a bit steep. The store is lovely and clean and kept very tidy. There is some really clean changing rooms to use. The staff are lovely and go out of their way to help you. You can buy by cash or put in for a store card. The clothes are usually the top end of the height of fashion are in all sorts of styles.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and you can take out a Topshop store card for 10% off your initial purchase and spread out the cost of a larger shop say some suits for a new job for example. Everything is well made, worth the money but check out the sales as it has some great bargains. I would give this place an eight out of ten.

Some ties can be expensive but they are made out of the finest handmade silk.
