There's plenty of parking on the street or the parking lot adjoining. Approach is open and the door is obvious. Ambiance inside is interesting; open area, semi-dimly litt with the bar to left and more table and booth seating to the right and there's a step down separate room for private events, further underpins the steak joint atmosphere. The menu options covers land, sea and air and my paaps and I landed on air and myself went with turf. The meat dish the filet oscar was perfectly cooked to medium rare with lobster, shrimp, asparagus topped off with hollandaise sauce. The chicken breast was the same quality and the dad added a side of wild rice. Wine menu is descent for the area and I ended up with a pinot that was a nice accompaniment to the steak. I've been coming to this town for quite some time and didn't know about this place, so will add it to my go to place and would recommend to anyone looking for a descent, quiet restaurant here in Watertown.

Most of our food was tasty, but there were a few oddities. The side salad was fresh, and we enjoyed the warm bread with honey butter that came out before the food. The crab legs were the highlight of the meal- they came out with melted butter that had a little candle beneath to keep it warm. That being said, the 6 oz steak that came with the crab legs (surf and turf) was way overcooked. I ordered the 12oz boneless ribeye. While it was cooked medium rare like I ordered, the fat was unrendered and several pieces were very chewy as a result. It was hard to cut on a metal plate. The caramelized onions were far from being caramelized; they were under seasoned and undercooked (still crispy). There was a pile of way overcooked green beans on the plate that had no seasoning. Who uses mushy green beans as a garnish? We wanted to love our experience. Overall it was okay. The food fell flat from our expectations.

When you first walk in (Thursdays) you will be host with a strong scent of slightly rotten crab legs ::::spooky:::: . Be prepared to wait to be seated for a while as the wait staff prepares your "haunting" experience. Once seated you will be handed slightly crumpled menus with a wide selection of horrific meal options. The selection may look like a normal American restaurant menu but don't be fooled they will whip up a scary concoction. My personal favorite is the blackened pasta (my receipt said Cajun pasta so I don't know what I actually ate of the two). You will first receive a normal salad but then you will receive the most terrifyingly disgusting pasta you have ever seen. Grease soaked angle hair pasta, mushrooms that are somehow burnt, uncooked pepper strings, and a cheese sauce that has no flavor whatsoever other than the lowrys seasoned salt sprinkled on top. The plate comes with a water and grease garnish that is just immaculate. The steak was good but had a bit more seasoned salt than needed. This terror entree will set you back $22. A two course meal for one in total cost $41.43 . | * disclaimer this is sarcasm it is not a Halloween themed restaurant. It was an awful restaurant and not worth it. A frozen michelina's pasta has more and better flavor.

This place is nothing short of five stars. First things first: if you're looking for "authentic"…read moreMexican food, you'll probably have to travel to at least Colorado. Max's is the furthest thing from authentic, and as long as you understand that you're gonna have a great experience. Max's is consistent. I've never had anything from here that needed to be sent back to the kitchen. Not once in 40 years. Speaking of which, the menu (and the prices!!) have changed very little over the decades. If this is your first visit, Max's Platter is a good choice. Order the nachos, maybe go wild and get them with meat. Get both salsas. Enchiladas, super Sancho, chimichangas, and seafood enchiladas are also can't miss items. I've heard good things about their burgers, but I've never had one. Be sure to get a blended margarita! They come in several flavors and are adorned with a single hazelnut. Cute! Don't let the bad reviews keep you from trying this gem of a restaurant. A+++

The food isn't earth shatteringly highend, but it's good and always consistent. We ALWAYS start with nachos grande. Señor Max's chips and salsa are magical. I am a big fan of the avocado salad and fiesta del sol, while my wife enjoys their chimichanga. They also do the best patty-melt in town. SM will continue to be our go-to place.
