I am heartbroken to hear yesterday that my dear Dr Maddex is gone... Almost 29 years he took care of me and saved my life when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2009... He wasn't afraid to stand up to insurance companies when they would resist authorization for treatment.. The Hugs ... This is my FAVORITE dr's office to visit! The vibe is so positive and laid back, every person who works here goes above and beyond to help. The office girls and Dr. Maddex make you feel like family! I have had a couple instances when I needed some lab or test results last minute (I'm a procrastinator) and everyone in the front office works hard to get them to me. I've called walking into another drs appointment and received them within minutes and they had to call Quest Diagnostics to get the records and then wait for them to be faxed and then email them to me. I have never had any trouble booking an appointment, usually same day or next day, never longer. Every time I call I am greeted as if I am their favorite patient. Even when there is a busy office the wait time is reasonable. I don't know how they keep things running so smoothly but they are doing something right. Dr Maddex is by far one of the best doctors on this planet! He has wonderful bedside manor, he's caring and attentive and listens to your concerns and really gets to know his patients. I have gone to see him crying thinking my world is falling apart and when he walks in to see me he genuinely cares and always listens, he has so much knowledge and experience I can't help but feel better when he breaks things down and explains them in laymen terms. Dr Maddex is the best doctor I have ever had in my entire life. I have been going to him for 10+ years. He has been there through thick and thin, and through the birth of my daughter. Hes The kind of doctor who gives you his cell number to contact him after hours when needed. The type of doctor who gives hugs, not handshakes. One who always remembers your charts, sits down and tells you stories each visit. He treated me as a friend, not a patient. My heart breaks to find out he passed away so suddenly. He told me so many stories about his family AND the many vacations over these past years. I'm only 28 and he always compared me to his kids.. my heart truly hurts thinking that he's gone. I cared for him like family, as he cared for me the same. He helped me through my darkest times, got me out of addiction and and onto prescription maintenance. Beyond the hurt of him being gone so suddenly I now wonder what his patients will do going forward for their maintenance medication (me included). This has been the worst news imaginable. I wish I knew more about dr. Maddex's funeral, obituary, and take over doctor (as he spoke of before he passed). The angst from the passing away of Dr. Maddex does not go away. His impact on the lives of his patients is felt deeply. He cared, he was amazingly smart, always up-to-date on the latest in medicine, willing to share his knowledge, trusted his patients, and did not judge. His empathy and compassion made it possible for patients to be completely honest with him. Life feels less "safe" with him gone. I will miss Doctor Maddex. He was a great doctor. He finally got my blood pressure under control and he always had a joke for me.

Dr Maddex is the best. He doesn't rush, he listens, and he goes above and beyond what other doctors would do to make sure you get the care you need. I don't live near Diamond Bar, but he is my first choice as a doctor and I see him whenever I can. read more

This doctor's billing practices are corrupt. I got sent to collections SIX YEARS after I paid my last statement! I NEVER received any additional statements or phone calls regarding an unpaid balance. I moved from Diamond Bar to Silverado and my mail was forwarded. NOTHING from this office! I kept the same phone number until 2017; no phone calls! Then, in 2020, I get an alert that there was something negative on my credit. Lo & behold, I'm sent to collections over something 6 years old! Now, I have to pay the balance PLUS the bogus "fees"! I contacted the doctor's office, left a message & my call was not returned. I called again & the doctor was not cooperative about me paying him directly. DO NOT TRUST THIS DOCTOR OR HIS BILLING PRACTICES! read more

Several calls have been placed to this doctor's office. Everytime we call, we get the answering machine. We called back and were able to get a staff member, but she hung up on us after putting us on HOLD for a while! Thanks! Anyways, good luck trying to get through, even during business hours.. even if you leave a VM (we've left several) you will not receive a call back from anyone. Dr. Maddex is the MOST CARING provider that I have seen in years. It is said that Doctor's in the United States will not spend time with their patients to truly get at the root of their issues or current problems. Dr. Maddex does. I found out a couple of days ago that Dr. Maddex has passed away. I am so heartbroken to hear this news. I had been trying to get a hold of his office with no luck, i text his cell, because that was the kind of doctor he was, and his daughter told me the bad news. This man literally saved my life. I was in the worst possible place in my life with my addiction to painkillers. He helped me get off them and find help. I really wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. Dr Maddex has been my doctor for over a year now, prior to being my doctor he was my husband's doctor for many years. I have known Dr. for over five years and he is such a great, caring person, he gave me his personal cell phone and told me to call him anytime. Never had a doctor give me their personal cellphone, normally you have to call the answering service. Dr. Maddex gives the best hugs ever. Prescription voicemail is always full and they incorrectly spelled my name and according to my insurance, they didn't file a claim for a blood test correctly so my simple blood test got denied through my insurance and Quest is billing me $530. Even worse, I haven't even received the results to said blood test despite my calling them multiple times and leaving voicemails. It's been almost two months and for all I know, I could have cancer but the office hasn't called me back and I still might have to pay for it. Also, the hours posted on Google and Yelp are not correct. Their business hours are different every day (you have to call them to get the schedule) and they also take a two hour lunch on top of that. This is the most careless doctor I have ever had anything to do with. My 73 year old mother-in-law saw him to review a recent MRI of her knee and to determine a course of treatment. He walked in and told her she had metastatic bone cancer, even though there wasn't any kind of lab work done to verify these results. Mind you she was there alone. So when she picked up the phone to call her daughter, he proceeded to give her the same news. Then he leaves the room and comes back 10 mins later to tell her it was a mistake, it's a torn meniscus and orthoarthritis. He never read the report from the radiologist before telling her this news in a very incentive manner. The unnecessary duress that he caused for being careless is unacceptable. Needless to say, she's going to another doctor. Stay away!!! read more

A friend of mine recommended Dr. Maddex, as i have sworn off ever going to a doctor again in my life. Making the phone call was the hardest part for me. Once the staff answered my call, I knew I was in good hands. The moment I walked into Dr. Maddex's office I was greeted with a warm welcoming. I'm so happy I went, Dr. Maddex is more than just a doctor, he is the most compassionate human being I have ever encountered. My first visit Doctor sat with me for over an hour, as he wanted to know every little detail I was going through and NEVER once did I feel judged by him. My 2nd visit he took me in after hours, they closed at noon and he told me he would wait till I got there. There are not enough words to explain all the good things about him. His HUGS are the best. The last time I went in to see Dr. Maddex, when he came into the room, he gave me a hug and said hugs are healthier than a handshake. Wow I really thought that was the nicest thing I have seen. Unfortunately my insurance changed and he is not in our directory. Still working on getting him back. I almost want to go to him without insurance, for the routine checkups, but I guess I will figure that out. He is so personable and knowledgeable. I even called to see about how I can get him back. He got on the phone with me (not sure what the previous guy's problem is not getting anyone on the phone?) and he was able to refill a prescription for me over the phone. Breath of fresh air! I started going to him years ago after finally firing my previous Doctor. He is every thing i was looking for; knowledgeable, endearing, a great listener, and available on short notice. His staff has been with him for years which is telling in itself. Worst doctor I've ever been too. He's so unprofessional, let alone his office. His office staff is unbelievably disrespectful and unprofessional. All they care about is money and how they can get it. There's a nurse named Brianna and she was talking to me like I was a piece of trash on the street because she thought I didn't have money to pay the bill THEY made a mistake in billing me. They said hey took my insurance and after being seen they said they don't and charged me $250. Not only did I call about it for 2 years they never responded to me about it until I got a call from collections and had to go in there myself. I made them cancel my charges and they still charged me $50 and talked to me like I was poor. They all look unprofessional, they roll their eyes at customers and they talk in a vulgar way. I would not recommend this office to anyone! Stay away, they'll trick you and try to take your money. read more

This is the worst doctor I have ever been to. In 2013, I told my medical history to Dr. Maddex but he could care less. He only continued to tell me he will charge me for every test possible, if I wanted it. I left with a bad feeling. Guess what...they billed me a year later in 4/2014 for the check up because they messed up their paperwork and the bill says it will go to collections if I don't pay. Well, I have insurance and the check-up should have been covered. So I had to call the office and be redirected and after several calls and six months later the bill gets cleared in 10/2014 because insurance did cover it (DUH!) except for the co-pay plus finance charges which they bill me in 3/2015. WTF! Luckily, I paid by credit card and have proof of the co-payment from 2 YEARS AGO, otherwise, I will sue them for harassment and ruining my credit. Waiting for final bill to show $0, which they had told me I would receive back in 10/2014 but never happened. They probably have a bunch of stupid people working there. So be forewarned. read more
