The hairdressers run mostly by pre booked appointments but can sometimes book you in if they are not busy. So sometimes you may be lucky and get a walk in appointment. The prices are brilliant with a cut and blow dry costing approximately £13 compared to other hairdressers where it can be up to £30 for this service. All staff are very nice and helpful.

Whilst I was waiting there was a lady having her hair coloured. The young girl(a trainee I assume?) stood in front of me and offered the lady a coffee, made her one then went upstairs in the shop, totally ignoring me. The coffee isn't the issue but to have even been asked would have been nice. The cost of that cup of coffee will mean I'll likely not return. I ran pubs, bars and hotels for years and know the impact small things like this have on customers. Made me feel like my custom wasn't very important and the amount of money you spend decides wether or not you deserve a drink while you wait. Not a great first impression on me I have to say. As I said though, the haircut itself, and the stylist, I'd have no complaint about at all but the fact that you are 'very proud of the welcoming atmosphere' and the 'friendly team', I'd say some staff training in basic customer service may be a worthwhile investment.

Unfortunately I did not find the staff very friendly but a little 'stuck-up' and looked down their noses at you, but I persevered with that because the place had been recommended to me as being a good hair salon. The first time I went it was great and I had a really nice haircut. However, when I returned for a trim of the original hairstyle the hair stylist seemed very preoccupied with talking to the stylist next to her about going on holiday next week. The result was that I felt that I was in the way and interrupting their conversation. Also, she obviously was not concentrating on what she was doing as she totally mangled my hairstyle and it looked nothing like it was supposed to (or like it had when I went in it should have looked the same but shorter!). The fringe was obviously crooked and I was totally mortified. It took ages for me to feel comfortable leaving the house after that and I would never visit this establishment again.

You can even get your nails done, or have a waxing in the ladies salon. The staff members are all well trained, friendly and polite, and they actually listen to what you want to have done (unlike some hairdressers I have been to where they do what they want to you). The only slight downfall is that only the mens salon has the capability to take cards, so you have to wait whilst they dash over the road to get the credit card machine. Still, as that is the only complaint you can level against it then it isn't bad. Guido's it is very reasonably priced for all of their services, and if you are a student you get a discount (always a good thing in a University town).
