Something I realised the other day, while on instructions to nip down the road in the rain for some specific types of hot food for a sick missus, is that while Byres road is packed full of places to eat, there isn't a lot of competition in the cheap pastries style of old Greggs. And to be honest, I'm glad there's still someplace you can get decent, hot food to go for a couple of quid on that street; from experience, it's the fuel of the (skint) student and working man alike. Wow I have just been to Greggs Gordon street and have never been so upset by customers and staff…read more I went in to Greggs and this woman said something offensive to me, so I leaned over and said sorry was that aimed at me, I asked 3 times and she said who else is it aimed at. I said I'd rather wait for my order until she leaves, drawing me dirty looks and said " look at the state of you, dirty trousers ya tramp" and I said "excuse me who you think your talking to you smelly tramp" Mandy said you need to watch you language or you need to leave and I'm like do you not hear what she says. The customer muttered something I pointed and said don't speak to me like that. Customer said dont you point at me or I'll hit you. So I pointed again and she went to hit me but stopped they ignored that Mandy kept muttering something along the lines of I'm sorry about this, don't worry and take the food for free we're sorry. When asked they didn't hear anything she said, she was closer to the customer than me, she should have asked both to leave and she didn't and she shouldn't have gotten involved personally but she did. This was clearly this customer can do nothing wrong in the eyes of Mandy and other staff and I'm the big bad customer for defending myself. CCTV will clearly show I didn't start a thing. The choice is good and although popular they do have good stock levels along with friendly staff and good value you can see how it appeals.
