The staff said that they had run out of food which was sup rising given the time of day. The food didn't seem like good value either, £1.50-ish for a cheese roll, not even a big roll but one which was no bigger than your average sandwich roll. You can sit in and eat which is something I like but didn't take advantage of as I didn't end up buying anything but it is worth keeping in mind if you're in the area and want to meet a friend for lunch or a catch up cuppa. Parking is available opposite the store in the street making it easy to access.

Having received a flyer though my letterbox, I decided to give them a try one Saturday afternoon, only to find they were closed. It turned out they open early in the morning (like all real bakeries do), and also shut early in the afternoon, so I returned the next weekend to sample some of their fresh bread and cakes. It was all of excellent quality, and the service was friendly. I noticed they also had some seating in the shop, and a coffee menu, so presumably it's got more of a cafe vibe in the mornings. If only I could wake up earlier in the morning, I could buy fresh bread each day. For now, an occasional cake will have to suffice.

Unlike most bakeries there is an option to sit and eat in. It's quite a charming and intimate place to have lunch, ideal for conversation and a catch up. Their meal deal makes The Bakery affordable, around £4.20 for a baguette, cake and a hot drink which is tastier, cheaper and more filling than most other High Street delis. It's close to Bexleyheath station and so is great for grabbing food on the way to and from work. There is are a few parking spaces in the street next to the shop.

I would go to the Bakery any day of the week over all the high street chain "fake" bakeries that lay around town. Their bread is so fresh and tasty, and i am a sucker for their farmhouse loaf. Their fresh cream cakes are to die for, as well as the remaining of the cakes they have to offer. Also, warm cups of tea and coffee can be found here. The Bakery is a prime example of why traditional family bakeries are better than chain bakeries and a reason you should continue getting your fresh bread from here.

This is probably because every man wants a woman who will feed him like his momma used to. At The Bakery in Old Bexley that is exactly what I got. Indeed they had sold most of their goods, yet it was easy to see that this place had quality baked goods served in clean stylish establishment. I went for a sausage roll that they heated for me, and a sweet mince slice. Both of them were lovely and the sausage roll especially scored big points for not being greasy. In the little village environment The Bakery belongs, I am sure they are a big hit with the locals.

The matcha latte I had was delicious and not too sweet. The kimchi monkey bread is so good that my sister demanded I got her one when I was back in London. I picked her one up last week for after a marathon she had run and it went down very well. The tiramisu danish is probably one of the best pastries I've had in London so far. It was flavourful without being too heavy and was a nice size for sharing. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy last month's special croissant (strawberry lemonade). It was far too sweet for me and there was too much flavour going on. I couldn't enjoy the actual croissant taste that I love. I also don't get any phone signal in there and it's a pain trying to pay the bill via the app to get my points when it doesn't load. It took me about 7 mins to pay last time!
