Even a decent selection of wines and beers given the size of the shop. I don't agree that the prices are steep - they're slightly more expensive than a supermarket, but very reasonable given that you then don't have to go out of your way for stuff. The downstairs is an open sofa area with a board displaying the various luxury milkshakes on offer that day. Whilst they all looked very appetising, I was really in the mood for a decent cuppa so headed up the metal stairway to the kitchen to order. I was then greeted by the smell of cakes and pastries which had literally just come out of the oven. In the end I opted for a tea and a muffin which came to a very reasonable £2.60. The lady behind the bar brought my order over to me, a very nice touch I thought which meant I was able to sit and browse the art for sale on the wall. When my tea came, it also came with a little biscuit on the side, again, not much but a nice touch which shows that this shop really cares about service. Overall, the shop has a really "artsy" yet cosy feel about it. It's the kind of place which I could see myself sitting for hours writing or catching up with pals I haven't seen in a while. The quiet and relaxing atmosphere is further enhanced by the scents wafting over from the scented candle shop a few doors down. This place is a real find and I encourage others in Leek to give it a go too.

With remarks like that from the indifferent lady owner i did indeed ask myself why I was complaining. The service was shocking the attitude of the owner was disgraceful and to top it off my daughter advised me that her pasta dish was cold but that she didn't like to add any more stuff to the complant list!! Steer clear my friends it was appaling. There scores on the doors is 2 stars but of course this is not measured against service only hygiene which isn't very good but if service was included in the ratings they would have got -5.

The student population can't seem to get enough of sugary treats in American sized portions at Asian prices. Majority of these places are therefore understandably rowdy, with excitable young (and old) folk vociferously conversing high on sugar. For as long as I can remember I've frequented Moonlight as my Ice cream vendor of choice. They've been around for a while and the service is impeccable. However it is a tad cramped for space and is regularly very busy. Delights is the new kid on the block and is rather impressive indeed. First thing you notice about the place is its size. I've never eaten in but the space results in a more relaxed atmosphere, larger groups are barely audible sat at the back while you order. The menu is just as impressive if not more so than Moonlight with my personal Faluda coming in a special "Kulfi" flavour. This particular flavour isn't exactly Vanilla and most of you won't know of it. All I can say is give it a try. The creamy taste and the flavour it produces due to pistachios and almonds being grinded in with the milk is just sublime. The plethora of ice cream flavours alone is reason enough to pop in for a few scoops. The turkish delight literally floored me when I first tried it in a mini re-enactment of a male version of that When Harry met Sally scene. (Unlike Meg Ryan'sreaction, mine was a more muted "damn this is good". In my head things were happening though) It was divinity in ice-cream motion. (diet out of the window) you can order any combination of ice cream you want as they have a descent selection. This place is only a dessert place but you can order hot drinks as well as we usually get a latte or cappicino to wash it down. At around a fiver each for the waffles and ice cream and hot drink it suits us just fine for an hour or so get together and quick natter!

It thus should come as no surprise that on one of my quick nip and outs through Bolton I stopped by here to take on board a well deserved beverage or two in the company of a good friend of mine. Yes it is an uninspiring place, but in good company I all but forgot I was in the place. One thing it is good for is a landmark and a meeting point with your friends, you just can't miss that big red sign can you?
