Obviously they don't need new business. Drove there to look at rugs, and was flat turned down at the door telling me I needed an appointment. Nowhere did it say I needed to call and make an appointment, and the place was empty. I had driven 40 minutes and was prepared to spend significant money on the right carpet. Clearly Covid has not had an impact on their business that they can turn away customers with a RUDE attitude. Every other business is open, of course with masks. Their loss. I needed a rug cleaned that had not been cleaned for quite some time and it had some value. I was able to roll up the rug and bring it in. The staff took a look at it and told me that "yes" they could clean it. It took a few weeks but I got my call to come pick up the rug. When you arrive they unwrap the rug and lay it down for inspection. It looked fantastic. The staff both times I went were fantastic. The staff assist you with bringing the rug to the car. I wholeheartedly can recommend Gregorian Rugs. Bonus when you go in, be prepared. There are some simply gorgeous rugs. read more

The entire staff at Gregorian's (Scott, Ron, Peter and Zeke) are all very friendly, personable, knowledgeable and courteous. I brought in two rugs from Egypt to be "blocked" as they had been folded for an extended period of time and "hanging strips" added. They did an excellent job on these rugs as well as knowing that these particular rugs should NOT be washed for the possibility that the colors would run as they are not of the same quality as Persian rugs; although they did say the weave and the quality of workmanship on these Egyptian rugs was excellent and that I did well in my purchase in Cairo as these would be nothing that I would have been able to purchase here. I was raised with the notion that, if you can't say anything nice, you shouldn't say anything at all. That being said, disappointment in my recent interaction with Gregorian Oriental Rugs motivates me to write this review. I had been a customer of Gregorian Oriental Rugs for 25 years. During that time, we bought a variety of carefully chosen, quality rugs, well suited to our home & decor. Most of them were of Iranian origin, and beautifully made. As a result of that quality, each of our sales reps over the years assured us that we would never lose money on these rugs, that they would hold their value over time. The purpose of this rating and writing this review is to refute that assertion. I moved to the North Shore, well over an hour from Gregorian Oriental Rugs. My new home was significantly smaller and most of the rugs that I had owned would no longer fit in the rooms at the new house. Gregorian had been wonderful to deal with when buying the rugs originally, and I felt it was worth the drive. Plus, I thought it made sense to negotiate an exchange of rugs with the business that sold them to me years before, especially having been given the promise that they would hold their value over the years. Moving out of my home of 20 years necessitated putting things into storage, as my new home was not ready for occupancy at the time I closed on my old home. Prior to moving my household belongings into storage, my rugs were cleaned and wrapped by Kokobodakian in Winchester - a company closer to my home than Gregorian. Had I not cleaned them myself, Gregorian would have given me even less money in an exchange, taking out cleaning costs from the amount offered in exchange. In fact, Gregorian insisted that they didn't really want to accept these rugs as having been cleaned when I brought the rugs in for exchange, since they didn't do it themselves. The rugs had been cleaned and wrapped by another well-respected & established firm, Kokobodakian. The rugs arrived at Gregorian for the exchange still encased in the post-cleaning wrapping, and I produced a receipt for the cleaning services. It took a fair bit of back & forth in order for Gregorian drop the cleaning fee in the exchange. Each of these rugs were in excellent condition - an assertion verified by the folks at Gregorian. With that knowledge, and thinking that I'd get a fair exchange, I made multiple long trips to Gregorian to find replacement rugs that fit in my new home in both size & color. When I had settled on a couple of rugs, Gregorian's offered me an exchange value on my old rugs of just over 20% of the original purchase price. I was shocked. This value was not given to me, despite my asking multiple times, until AFTER I had finished selecting new rugs (again, numerous hour plus trips to & from my home). That should have been my first clue, but I had fully expected them to be honorable in their evaluation of the carpets. Knowing how displeased I was with the evaluation of my carpets, and the proposed exchange rate, I would have thought that management might have reached out. I had been a very long term customer. In addition, my sales rep (who was terrific, and the reason for the two star rating rather than just one star) knew how unhappy I was with their proposal. Our discussion of the exchange went on for some time. There was ample opportunity for someone in management to have reached out to me. But, I only heard crickets... Yes, Gregorian needs to purchase rugs back at a price point that allows them to make money on the resale. And yes, I did benefit from the enjoyment use of these rugs for many years. However, I was expecting something closer to a third of the value, perhaps a bit more, given the quality of these rugs, and the fact that they had already been cleaned. And I do not believe that that was an unreasonable expectation. Gregorian Oriental Rugs misrepresented the trade in benefits at the time of purchase by offering just over 20% in exchange and then adding on cleaning costs. The customer actually receives very little for their rugs in an exchange. Know this going in, and be ok with it, because that is all you will see. I, for one, will NEVER return as a customer. read more

Our experience over 20 years with Gregorian Rugs has been remarkable. Time and time again they exceed our expectations for their professionalism, expertise, advice and honesty. Most recently we downsized and were in possession of a very beautiful, but large, rug. It would not transition to our new living space, as is. We did not want to part with it: trade it or sell it. I consulted with Gregorian Rugs and several other reputable dealers in the Boston area. *Gregorian solved our dilemma.* Scott Gregorian understood why we wanted to keep our rug, as he understands that they are, in fact, very personal works of art. He suggested that we remove the borders, and then use the borders to create runners. I was at first a bit surprised, but Scott provided me with a mock up of the rug without the borders, and the borders as runners. Brilliant! Now we have a more transitional contemporary pieces and we keep our rug. The workmanship is without flaw. No one else was as creative or thoughtful. Service was superior in all respects from start to finish. The carpets are beautiful and we are beyond thrilled! We recommend Gregorian, highly, for their expertise and their creative initiative. We are willing to show anyone their work and will be a reference at anytime! read more

I brought a rug I had purchased on Craigslist to Gregorian to be cleaned and have some edge repair. The rug wasn't a masterpiece by any stretch, but everyone at the store treated me as though it was. We have purchased many rugs at Gregorian's over the past four years. They have wonderful choices, and are extremely helpful in trying to find the exact right match to our taste. We love Chinese rugs, and although they are no longer made, Scott Gregorian and his team have been doing their best to locate more of the rugs we like. During a recent shopping visit, I was pondering over whether or not to purchase a particular rug, and Scott told me to take it home, see how it looks, and if I like it, just call him to sort out payment details. I should have written this review a long, long time ago as I had such a wonderful experience buying a rug from Scott Gregorian. After making numerous trips to the store and bringing rugs home to try them in my living room, Scott came over to check out the last batch and give his opinion (as I had appreciated having it when I was in their showroom). He had suggested a specific rug and after seeing it on my floor for a few days, I realized that he was exactly right! Now I have had it for at least a year or more, and it totally completes my room and goes very well with the one that I already had on the other side of the space. In addition, when he and the movers came over to my apartment, they noticed that another rug I had bought for a different room was too big, and they measured it and cut it to the correct size (at their store), and brought it back to me. Scott was incredibly helpful and so obviously proud of his families heritage and the history of their rugs (I learned so much from him), and the men who laid the rugs were fabulous and very patient - best delivery people I have dealt with. I wish my apartment was bigger as I would love to buy more rugs from Gregorian. read more
