Our waiter just brought everything to our table. We started with loads of Antipasti: Cheese, grilled vegetables, tomato salad, bread, potato tortillas (forgot the Italian name).... and we were already full. Then we got pasta and Vitello as secondi. We saw on other tables also fish but moved to dolci (ice cream, cake) directly. Food was accompanied by red wine and water. The best "il conto": 19€ per pax. You can't complain about that. To summarize it you get more then expected for your money and we already reserved a table for the next day!

The owner (we assume he was the owner) was showing us baskets of freshly picked truffles and porcini and another mushroom we didn't recognize. The three of us did the tasting menu - bonus as we didn't have to do the same tasting menus as some restaurants require you to do. For the tasting menu with fewer courses, they just brought my husband a plate incase we wanted to share with him. Every single course was fantastic. The atmosphere was fun. How…read moreabout this, foodie friends: if you can, build Camigliatello Silano and its environs into your next trip to Italy, and set aside at least 4 hours to sit at La Tavernetta and indulge in all of the amazing things they parade in front of you. It is worth a side trip for. This is a very top-notch eating experience, with the simple, clean, elemental focus on super fresh and local ingredients that is so important in the Italian eating experience, but with the flair for presentation and unusual combinations you might see at fancy American restaurants (although, in my opinion, without any feeling of fussiness--this is still an Italian family establishment). The meal starts with a wine and meat and bread tasting sample in the restaurant's wine cellar, and concludes with a visit to the kitchens to wave to the staff and observe the pastry preparation area (or at least did in our case). The owner/head chef, Pietro Lecce, came out to shake our hands and introduced himself. The menu is terrific. The restaurant's surrounding area--the gorgeous national forest La Sila--is known for its porcini mushrooms as well as signature cheeses, both of which are featured prominently on the locally-sources menu. Things we ate which I would emphatically recommend: --a buckwheat mafalda (a new pasta to me) with local signature ingredients porcini and anise --porcini tortelli served with shave truffles --the porcini appetizer platter--it was great --"The Tradition": a semi-standard antipasto platter, but with local specialty cheeses and meats I hadn't eaten elsewhere We were so full we failed to order dessert, which I really regretted because the tables around me had some really nice-looking stuff. Poor planning. Go to Calabria! And eat here. Make a day or even two out of Camigliatello Silano--check out La Nave della Sila, the emigration museum, and Parco Old Calabria. And go buy all the gastronomical delights from Camigliatello's downtown shops--stock up on your spicy sauces!

It's a little hidden down an alley (hence the word vociletto in the name) but we were able to find it and walked in with no issues on a Monday night. Our party tried many dishes, including the pasta with chickpeas, a crab pasta dish, a grilled seafood platter, and pasta with truffles. Everything was good, if a little under seasoned for our American palates. We also got salads to start, and great wine, which was lovely. The service was wonderful. Not a lot of English was spoken so be sure to bring a phrase book and translator app for communicating with staff and understanding the menu. I'm very glad we went to this charming place and would definitely recommend!
