Visited St Augustine for an afternoon while seeing family in the area. After walking around the fort and old town for a while, I went to Yelp! to find someplace for lunch. Having my 4 year old granddaughter with us, just the name caught my eye, then reading the reviews, the decision was very simple. When we arrived, we were very kindly welcomed and asked if we had been there before. After saying no, he walked us through the extensive menu, explaining their "best sellers" and really making us feel welcome! The Unicorn theme was a huge hit with my granddaughter, and they even had coloring pages and crayons for "little" customers. Lol. We started with an order of traditional poutine, whIch is every bit as what I've had in Montreal. The gravy was AMAZING, cheese curds were fresh, and the fries were cooked just right! From there, we all had our main dishes. Kids Mac & Cheese for the little one, and the 3 of us had The Pimp Daddy, the Country Boy, and The Loaded Steak Melt. All I can say is WOW!! Every sandwich was uniquely different, and delicious, toasted just right, and exploding with flavor. Paired with some Dr. Browns sodas, it was just about a perfect lunch!! They do offer a military discount, and even offered a discount on future visits for my kids, who love about an hour away, to compensate for travel! Visited this place while in the area as my daughter wanted a grilled cheese sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Chesterfield grilled cheese and it was actually really good. The only downside to this place is the seating, as it is very limited. But overall had a good experience, would definitely return if ever in the area. read more

Tried this place for first time. Got the GCG and it was ok....nothing magical for sure but had a nice amount of bacon. Ordered a side of fries which was the ass end of the bag including crunchies that were probably hanging in the basket through three or four deep fryings. Wow, like many of the other reviews, we came upon this place while heading to one of the many other restaurants in the area. So glad we did, the food was great and the service was fantastic. The poutine was outstanding, the fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned and the gravy was tasty to say the least. Both of our sandwiches were shear perfection, not to mention the raspberry hibiscus tea. We will be back to this place next time we're in St. Augustine for sure. Highly recommended! read more

We were at The Alligator Farm and needed to find a place to eat for annoyingly picky kiddos and relatively flexible grownups. Wow. What can I say...the service and food here was amazing. We found this place on here looking for something delicious to eat and was not disappointed. It's a small quaint restaurant in the heart of St. Augustine. We decided on the Warm Goat Cheese Salad, the Lobster Madison Poutine, the Duchess, and the Loaded Steak Melt. Absolutely fabulous. A twist to having grilled cheese. The menu looked amazing as well and if our stomachs could handle it...we would have eaten more. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you select. Presentation was done nicely as well. Our food looked like a work of art! They have Mac and cheese sandwiches as well and some amazing looking desserts. What a great way to end our day trip. I am not the biggest fan of grilled cheese, but on a whim we stopped in. It was AMAZaiNG!! I got the lobster grilled cheese & it was so good. It was full of lobster. Each sandwich comes with a small dipper of their tomato basil soup. I gave it 4 stars because it was hard to find. Cute little hole in the wall shop with some of the best food in St. Augustine!! You just walk up to the counter and order, take a seat and the magic happens. I personally had the dutchess, a lobster sandwich and we shared an order of classic poutine. Everyone in our party was extra happy with their food. The chef adds an artistic flare to each plate. I tried to go to the Mount Dora location and waited for 20 minutes without ever even being greeted or anything. I just left. But I was in st. Augustine recently and tried this location. I wanted to like it, but the food was just gross. The wait was not bad, but I went at an odd hour rather than right at lunchtime. The food was just so bad that I would not go back and would advise people not to go there. I got something that was supposed to have crispy chicken on it, I forget what it was called. It was not crispy and was just one little slice of bland chicken. They also put pieces of lettuce on it, which I didn't realize or I would have ordered something else. To each their own, but I don't think lettuce works on a grilled cheese for the wilting alone. It was really brown lettuce too. The whole thing was soggy and sloppy and bland. They come out so scalding hot so the cheese is melted everywhere and probably photographs well, but the bread is actually not toasted so it's soft and soggy. It also doesn't come with anything on the side and no drink. I ordered fries and they were soaked with grease. I couldn't finish them. They only have cans of soda or weird teas and lemonades with unusual flavors to them. I got lavender lemonade and it tasted like a cleaning product. The ice is from an at home ice maker and melts so fast. They use solo cups. The napkins are the brown kind you find in reatrooms. The whole restaurant was as sloppy as my sandwich. Beware! Don't order pick up through Yelp! Tried last week and it was a horrible experience! After arguing with the cashier after she accused us of ordering from the wrong location AND showing her that we paid for it already, she finally checked the iPad and laughed to her co-worker that the iPad was dead and unplugged. She very rudely told us that we had to order AGAIN through the app AFTER she told us our order would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Horrible customer service!! read more

A little horrified. Tried to just do a pickup order as this was one of the busiest days downtown (despite Covid warnings to stay home). The shop is very small. The woman at the counter had no mask on the entire time. The cooking staff also just had masks on their chins. Again, on one of the busiest days. It took a while to drive downtown just to find out they hadn't even seen our orders yet. So I waited there in a small shop with several unmasked workers. To add to my sadness, my order was wrong and was mostly just bread with maybe a single slice of cheese and bacon. No fig, no prosciutto. Very disappointing. Next level grilled cheese. If you are in St. Augustine, you must try it. The poutines are awesome and the grilled cheese sandwiches are unrivaled. They serve all sandwiches with a little side of tomato soup to dip it in. Even the soup is unreal. As a follow-up, we had both the duke and the duchess (lobster sandwiches), and both we're phenomenal. Don't know what the 2-star review person was talking about. So tonight we tried a brand new place on Cathedral Place called Grilled Cheese Gallery St. Augustine. It was AMAZING! The space is small and due to the lack of big exterior sign you may miss it, but it's next to Ancient City Brewery. We spent a lot of time talking with the owner. He told how so many of their ingredients are made in house rather than being sourced through a food distributor. The tomato soup, the pulled pork, the house cured bacon, and more....all made in house. My daughter had the Pimp Daddy grilled cheese with Mac and cheese and house smoked bacon. My wife had the Queen Brie. I had the Loaded Steak Melt, which even after working out this evening and today being my cheat meal was way way more than I could possibly eat. The steak melt included ribeye, bacon, four cheeses, sauteed vegetables and kimchi on ciabatta bread. It was ridiculously good. We got the regular poutine and the Scarlet poutine. The Scarlet included grilled chicken, caramelized onions, siracha aoli, and kimchi sauce. The balance of heat to smokey richness was just right and so good. This place advertises a vegan option (the "Vegan Disco") but I urge vegans not to trust that advertising. When I asked if my sandwich would still be vegan if I swapped out the white for another type of bread, the owner, who was working the counter, looked at me like I was nuts and said "There isn't any meat in bread!" I explained that I was trying to ascertain which breads did or did not contain dairy, and was told the breads were all from a bakery, so she said she "assumed they all did." Then she asked me "Have you ever MADE bread?" This Vegan Disco also contains kimchi, which is traditionally not vegan either. I'm pretty sure the sandwich is NOT vegan, as clearly the proprietors have no concept of the definition of vegan.
