We couldn't participate fully as the congregation sang this or that, or responded with this or that, but no instruction was given re where to look in the hymnal or wherever so that we COULD participate. Someone in the front row wasn't singing enough for this priest, and he - very loudly - pointed to her and announced that she was to be singing now!!!! Who DOES that to a grieving family member? Shameful behavior. There were other rudenesses which the family told us about later, and it just made the whole day that much harder on the entire family. Lovely sanctuary, but my goodness.....a church IS the people, and this man was not a good representative for Christ that day.

Good turn out... again I am old school and long to hear mass in Latin again but this kept the younger ones very much involved and appears to work in this parish!

The priest is a Franciscan Friar which makes it very special . The parish is small, after a few times coming here, you will be known. So, if you're looking to not be recognized, hey, this is not for you. It is also very diverse. People from different ages, races, even outside downtown come here. Very interesting and also close to the real meaning of what a church does to individuals... just by these aspects, I think it is something you don't see that often. Finally NO, the prior reviewer must have not been here in more than 5 years, since that is how long I can testify that the priest does not stay behind the official altar which true, is far from the viewers. And the reason why this is no longer done, is because there was no intimacy feeling. The church is old and from an architecture standpoint it is very interesting and historically it does tell a lot about the old days of downtown. It has three levels which makes it one of a kind. Just come by even for a visit, it is beautiful and welcoming!

So on the day I checked in to several churches this was one we went to. It was about 12 kids and 3 adults. And we were going around the churches and really embedding the importance of just being good human beings altogether. There was a lovely presenter here, I believe she was a part time student and full time speaker where she helps kids that have troubled pasts/homes/ and or backgrounds. And she was such a touching speaker. All the students were so attentive and understanding, of what Laura was teaching them. Thank you for having us here. I will visit again just to admire the structure! Its truly breath taking.
