We were shocked by the lack of Ubers and taxis when we got off the train in Yemassee, SC, which is about 30 miles from Beaufort where we had reservations at the Holiday Inn. Long story short: A very courteous and professional woman driver from Happy Taxi named Allison and a male driver (I forgot his name) rescued us from Yemassee and safely delivered us to our hotel. We were so happy to finally be able to shower and relax after a long ride! They even helped us with our luggage, and my grandmother's walker! We were very impressed with their southern hospitality. How can this be when the Savanah Airport Information Center also told me the price would be $85. The Polite Shuttle employee wanted me to commit to the ride and pay for it in advance. This obviously wouldn't leave me time to comparison shop. I ended up taking an Uber to the airport and the cost was $81. Talk about trying to take advantage...it is six days later and I'm still disgusted!
