Every one of his teacher's has been so lovely and easy to communicate with. CLP uses an app to share details about the child's day like when their diaper was changed, when they used the potty, what they ate, how much they ate, what they worked on, etc. They also share pictures and videos and that is truly my favorite part! What I love most though is the routine interactions with not just the teachers but the directors and other staff and wonderful families. It really is a great community and I highly recommend CLP if you're looking for a joyful childcare experience.

From day one, CLP Logan Square has felt like a second home. The care, consistency, and community have made parenting in the city so much easier. The staff is incredible. Every teacher and team member has shown our kids so much love, patience, and support. It gave us real peace of mind to know our children were not only safe but also thriving. They made friends, learned through play and structured activities, and participated in engaging specials like Spanish, music, and yoga. We also loved the occasional field trips that brought learning to life. The value is outstanding. Tuition is reasonable and includes meals, snacks, diapers, and formula. When we were expecting our first and touring multiple centers, this all-inclusive model made CLP the clear choice. It removed so much of the daily logistics and let us focus on just being parents. The extras really added up too. The Parent's Night Out program gave us time to recharge, and we appreciated being able to hire CLP staff for babysitting. It was comforting to have a network of familiar faces who knew our kids well and cared for them deeply. After a full decade with CLP, we are so grateful. This community has played a meaningful role in our family's story, and we can't recommend it highly enough.

This is our second child, and our older son had gone to two different daycares, so we knew exactly what we were looking for when we toured Newport. My daughter is learning all sorts of things, but more importantly to us, she's making friends, learning how to resolve conflict, learning to take turns and share, and we're confident she'll be set up for success in kindergarten. She looks forward to school each day. When she was younger, she went through some health issues that required some extra steps in caring for her. Newport was absolutely lovely during this difficult time. The teachers, staff, and in particular John the owner worked with us so that she could still attend school. We've become part of the community, doing play dates with her school friends outside of school, meeting other parents and families. Her teachers know her, and we can always talk to them about challenging "growing up" things like potty training and nap transitions, and I feel like we tackle them together. There may be wait lists...but honestly that's the situation with daycares in the city. It's definitely worth adding Newport to the list of daycares to tour and consider!

We pulled our kid from the toddler room at Newport Children's Academy in January after only a few…read moremonths. I'm writing this review so that you know what we wish we had known before we enrolled: this daycare relies on physical restraints to "teach" the toddlers how to behave. In the toddler room, they have "learning time" for 20 minutes each morning and during that time they arrange little toddler chairs in a half circle and a teacher sits at the front of the class and gives a lesson. The chairs have a seat belt-like strap and they strap the kids into the chairs so that they stay seated while the teacher is talking. When they first sent me a picture of my kid strapped into a chair, my mom instinct went on red alert. Why would they use physical restraints on toddlers? And why would they lecture at toddlers like they are in an elementary school classroom? It all seemed so wrong.  I talked to the lead teacher, who was very understanding but said the decision was the director's. When I talked to the director, John Sears, he said they use the straps to teach the kids boundaries because otherwise they wouldn't stay in the chairs. Of course they wouldn't, I said, toddlers don't sit still for more than a few minutes. And I said they weren't being taught how to sit and pay attention if they are being physically held into place and have no choice but to sit. We went back and forth for a bit and then his argument shifted away from boundaries and he homed in on safety. He said the kids could fall off the chairs. The chairs are toddler-sized and very close to the ground. This is hardly a safety issue. Even if there is a risk that the kids would climb on the chairs, the way to handle that risk is to watch them carefully, not to use restraints. (Full transparency: the lead teacher told me that "learning time" lasts 20 minutes. The director insisted it wasn't that long. Only 10 minutes, he said. I believed the lead teacher who was in the room everyday and in charge of the room's daily activities. But, even if the director was right, 10 minutes is still way too long to expect one-year-olds to sit still. Also, at our request, they stopped strapping our kid to the chair. But they still made her sit in place when all the other kids were strapped into their chairs. One of the teachers said it was "a requirement of this school" that she sit still.) Strapping the kids to their chairs wasn't a technique only used during the 20 minute learning time in the morning. For every activity that was done at a table (coloring, sensory activities, puzzles, eating) the kids were buckled in. That meant multiple times a day the kids were restrained. Sometimes when I arrived to pick up my kid in the evening, all of the toddlers would be strapped into their chairs for no apparent reason. One time I arrived and they were all strapped into chairs singing "The Wheels on the Bus." Why in the world do toddlers have to sit still in chairs to sing? Another time they were all strapped into chairs and doing nothing. I asked what was going on and one of the teachers said they had been playing with stickers. There were no stickers to be seen. The kids were made to sit buckled into chairs with nothing to do while the teachers cleaned up. I described the learning time to my kid's pediatrician and showed her a picture that Newport had sent me. She was dumbfounded. She said she had never heard of anyone trying to teach one-year-olds that way and said it demonstrated a misunderstanding of how young children learn. They learn through play, she said, and their attention spans are 2-3 minutes. She strongly suggested I find a new daycare.  I talked to a lot of other people about this too. I asked other parents and found no one whose daycare did anything similar. I also talked to other pediatricians and child psychiatrists that I work with who said the same thing my own pediatrician did - it is not developmentally appropriate to expect toddlers to sit and pay attention that long and the use of physical restraints to facilitate "learning" is not an accepted practice. We couldn't shake the feeling that doing something as developmentally inappropriate as strapping kids into chairs was indicative of the fact that they just didn't understand or respect child development. We couldn't trust a place that relied on physical restraint as a teaching tool.

The director Michelle is super accommodating and we had 0 problems with Early Intervention therapists visiting the kiddo at school (Ladybug requested additional fingerprinting even though they had Early Intervention screening ). But the best part was that our kid became potty trained on day one because her teacher Ms Mary takes time to put them on a potty at regular intervals . The group size is smaller than at our previous school and pretty relaxed atmosphere.

Once we started at Kids' Work, we realized what we'd been missing. The staff is incredible. Every person we've met has been friendly, enthusiastic, and genuinely seems happy to be there. You can tell management supports their team because the teachers never seem stressed or burned out. It's comforting to know that positive energy trickles down to the kids too. Our son is always so excited to see his teachers and classmates. Every one of his teachers has been warm and knowledgeable--the kind of people who truly love working with children. Leidy, Dina, and Desire were wonderful in the infant room, and he absolutely adores his current toddler teachers, Sydney, Monica, and Ana. He talks about them constantly. We get consistent, clear communication from his teachers about everything that happens in the classroom. They sincerely celebrate milestones with us, and whenever we face challenges, they are quick to ask questions, troubleshoot, and share tips as appropriate. The curriculum is excellent. Music and Spanish teachers come into the classroom weekly, and every day is full of creative projects and plenty of outside time. The facilities are always clean, organized, and filled with high-quality toys. The admin team has also been incredibly helpful whenever we've had questions or concerns. For example, when we were worried about our son's transition to the toddler room, Lindsey took time to reassure us and share resources to make sure he was ready. Their advice was spot on--he thrived in the new environment immediately. Last but absolutely not least, the level of organization at Kids' Work is impressive. Everything from sick policies to daily classroom schedules is well thought out, clearly communicated, and consistent. Nothing slips through the cracks with this team--and everyone is safer, healthier, and more sane because of it. We feel lucky to have found this place. As a result, we went to Kids' Work and never looked back. The place really feels like one big family. The environment is clean and welcoming (cleaner than any other daycare we visited), every teacher and administrator knows our son's name (impressive!), we get frequent updates on the daily activities, and most important of all, our son loves it there! The bonds he created with his infant room teachers are so heartwarming to watch. The teachers go above and beyond every day to make the parents' lives easier, and those little things matter, a lot. He absolutely loves it!…read more Starting a new preschool during Covid times was nerve wracking for sure, but Concordia has plenty of excellent policies in place to make a safe and healthy environment. All of the employees we encounter on a day to day basis are friendly, caring, and efficient. Communication from the teachers and administrators is excellent. We have been thrilled with our experience at Concordia these past three years. While the pandemic…read morehas made childcare much more difficult, the administration and staff at Concordia has been up to the challenge. Our first child has been at the school since they turned 13 months old (now 4 years old) and our second since infancy (now two). We've loved all of the teachers that our kids have had and appreciate the continuity (teacher turn over is very low compared to most centers). The kids stay active throughout the day and they have access to different outdoor playgrounds (different play lots for the younger versus older kiddos). There is also an annex room that can be used for indoor play during the colder months. The teachers set up the most wonderful art projects - I'm always amazed at their creativity and energy! The communication has been great with the teachers - we had trouble with our eldest napping at school but we worked with the teachers to try a few strategies we use at home and significantly improved the number of nap days (which makes for a nicer kid at the end of the day). The front staff is great as well - everyone is welcoming and will get to know your kiddo by name. The school has clear COVID-19 protocols (which I like) - they follow Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CDC guidelines. If they didn't follow IDPH guidelines they could risk losing their license. The school is also very diverse and does a lot to support the community. I whole heartedly recommend Concordia - this recommendation comes from a parent of two children who attend, a person who worked at a private daycare for seven years, and a graduate of an elementary education program. I know I am sending my kids to a warm, supportive, structured and fun environment.

My daughter started in the Blue Room (3's) and was incredibly shy and Ms Ashley really helped her feel comfortable. Additionally, Ms Andie in the Green Room (Pre-K) was so wonderful and helped her get into an RGC program in CPS. But all of the teachers are amazing and your child will definitely feel loved.
