I stopped in this small nursery to take my chances, as I didn't want to go to a "big box" store during Covid. Although the inventory was scanty, they had everything on my wish list!! I found pansies (my brother says that they're a misnomer - they should be called sturdies or toughies since they last through the winter, anyway...) in many colors, purple, white, blue, yellow & orange and some Dusty Miller for my front stoop. I also found a Crispy wave Japanese fern & a Christmas cactus for the house, and the helpful woman at the shop even found my rosemary (only a few left) ! How serendipitous! I saw shelves of succulents that tempted me, and some gorgeous poinsettias, which I will go back for shortly! So if you'd like to support a small, local business, plant yourself here!

I called several places and Heather at Mulch Unlimited was, far and away, the nicest and most helpful of anyone I spoke with. I visited their yard in Mechanicsville because I wanted to see what the economy mulch looked like (I really don't know why.) Again, Heather was very nice and helpful. I ordered 75 yards of Mulch Unlimited economy mulch. Promised delivery was Friday around noon. On Friday, around noon, Steven arrived with the first mulch load. Steven was great. He was friendly and he did an excellent job dumping 75 yards of mulch in precisely the spot I wanted it to be. I'm unable to think of anything anyone could have done that would have made this a better experience.

It was somewhat lighter in weight compared to other hardwood mulch I've used elsewhere. Also it was fairly scented which made me believe I received pine bark mulch in error. I traded pictures with Heather and she in fact confirmed I received the correct hardwood. She explained the difference between their premium and economy hardwood, the latter being heavier in consistancy. The premium is lighter since they only use the core of the tree, hence the coverage is not as great as the economy mulch. That's the reason my 8 yards was a little short for my project. Heather shipped me an extra yard a no cost so I could complete my bed coverage. She didn't have to do that...this was essentially my error. I should have visited the site and outlined my requirements rather than assuming 8 yards was sufficient. This is an exordinary high level of customer service and I will be buying all my mulch from M. U. They are also one of the few companies that carry mushroom compost which I will order this fall. Kudos to Heather!!

Meander down the road to an open field full of trees, bushes, shrubs, grasses. plants and flowers. They also carry soil, gravel, mulch and other landscaping needs. Their greenhouse was full of annuals, perennials, veggies and herbs. The property was spacious and we spent a lot of thyme walking down the aisles. The black plastic walkways they laid down weren't very neat... it was muddy and we got pretty dirty; they may be able to come up with cleaner walkways with rock or gravel which would be aesthetically pleasing too. The selection, however, was extensive. Andy, one of the owners, took time to walk around with us and gave us info on the plants we looked at and also shared planting tips. Very helpful and sage information. He knows his stuff! We ended up purchasing a pussy willow, lavender plants, a dwarf butterfly bush, Lantana, cat mint, phlox, varieties of potato vine, impatiens, chives, and rosemary. Quite a haul! Check out was easy, Shelly, Andy's wife, was friendly and sweet. We had a nice chat and enjoyed getting to know the owners. Andy gave a more pointers and a bag of hay for our plants. Kaled us with kindness! I'd like to see them expand with potting mix, soil, etc. and maybe some gardening tools and accessories. Here, some of the prices were a smidge higher than let's say, those big box hardware/garden stores, but the plants looks healthier. We had a blast planting when we got home and our garden looked gorgeous with the additions from the nursery. We would definitely visit again, we like supporting smaller, family owned, local business rather than those great big greenhouses that overwhelm you! Finding this place was mint to be!

Before I even interacted with him, there was a guy with no name tag on the other side of the counter in front of the register, so close I could have tapped his shoulder, who completely ignored me for several minutes. Eventually, Terry came around the corner and asked if I was being helped. I said no, I just need a duplicate key. I followed him to the other side of the island and gave him the house key I was having copied. No sooner had I handed him the key then he took a personal call on his cell phone. He was on his cell phone the entire time the key was being made. I was flabbergasted because given the white ponytail hanging out of his hat, I judged him well old enough to have customer service ingrained in him, but this old-head Terry showed less respect to me as the customer than the average 15 year-old employee I see bagging groceries. He slipped the new key into the bag and handed it to me with no break in his phone conversation. As I walked away, I decided to compare my key with the duplicate Terry had just made. The match was COMICALLY different. My biggest regret is that I didn't snap a picture of it for this review, but suffice to say there's no way the duplicate key would've opened the deadlock I need it for. That's actually very concerning because I'm relying on this duplicate to let me in to someone else's home to feed their cats while they're out of town. The wrong key would make it impossible to feed them. I went back to Terry and he was still on his personal phone call. Seeing me again, he wrapped up with "I love you" which confirms the nature of this call, and gave me the undivided attention that would have spared a revisit in the first place. I held the two keys together and told him I was skeptical the key he had just made would work. He took the keys in his hand, agreed and cut me a new key. When not on the phone, what do you know? he was able to make an identical duplicate. The key was just over five dollars, which feels like a fine value. The only reason I'm doing two stars not one is because Kelly was so great welcoming everyone in and checking out at the register.
