I first rented a space in 2009 and in 2016 downsized. Each owner was very helpful and the staff always friendly. I recently came to clear out and the new owner Meg was friendly and helpful as well. The conditions for the storage are excellent. I had no trouble with mold on paper or fabrics, even after years. The units are solid with no holes where things fall through to the lower level (some places have that!). I would rent with this company again. The location is also excellent for people using public transport. I did not rent a vehicle so cannot comment on that aspect. read more

The lady who answered was incredibly rude and dismissed my most basic question about storage and van rental. Owner Herb, if you are listening, please put your call reception staff through some basic customer service training. I was told by Uhaul to go here to pick up packing material. They are a partner of Uhaul. When I went to the front desk I asked for bubble wrap and the girl said they didn't carry it. I told her I called Uhaul and they suggested I go to Guardian since it was in my area. The girl said Uhaul are liars! She then proceeded to tell me they always give the wrong information to customers. Why would you bad mouth your partner business. and who calls someone a liar! And who speaks to a customer like that. I couldn't believe it. Management should be aware of how she speaks to people and about companies they partner with. No one in customer service should have that kind of attitude. There are so many things wrong with this U-Haul rental location: 1) The driveway they keep the van in is difficult to find and extremely steep and tight. It's easy to see why the vehicle has scratches. 2) Poor customer service - no one does a walk around of the vehicle with you. The tank is not full and the vehicle is dirty. The lady who initially processed my rental later claimed that she does not work on the U-Haul side of things and could not help me, and the U-Haul representative David Chen, who was extremely rude, threatened to charge my credit card unilaterally when we had a dispute about return time. 2) Be careful if you choose to forgo insurance for U-haul truck rentals here. David tried to charge me $200 for a scratch that was pre-existing, requiring me to file a dispute claim that I eventually won. What a headache. Make sure to take careful documentation, or better yet, choose a different location to rent from that doesn't engage in underhanded practices - there are plenty nearby. read more

We needed storage space for our furniture and belongings while our house undergoes renovation. Called several places and when I got to Guardian Storage, a very friendly guy, Barron, answered the phone. He listened to me, determined what I would need and immediately suggested he may have a suitable space for me. Upon his suggestion, I went over to view the space, liked it, booked it. Absolutely the best place in Vancouver for storage!! Reasonable rates, flexible hours, safe, clean, secure and conveniently located. I have received personal help on several occasions from the owner in moving my things into an upper locker. He is friendly and very knowledgable, and has saved me money by offering good, honest advice on how to organize my belongings in the most efficient manner. He helped me again only last week. I am all about giving the smaller companies a chance over the big box chains first, however, was saddened after the recommendations and the good reviews that the customer service was not acceptable. Mariam (I think that is the spelling of her name) was rude to me. I made a simple inquiry about the dimensions of the box and the cost. I understand that she did not have the information of the boxes sizes on hand but rather than politely saying, "I will obtain that information for you one moment please" She brushed me off to check out the website. I was not in a position where I had a computer or wifi access on my phone. I was calling on behalf of a tenant based on a recommendation, therefore, instead of brushing me off the correct customer service procedure would've been to politely put me on hold while this information could be gathered. Maybe it is just my 20 years in the customer service field calling but if anybody on my staff ever talked to a customer like that there would be some serious discipline write up. I've never trained any of my staff to brush someone off to check out the website. I've always instructed them to answer the customers questions. I understand that Mariam was busy with other customers and if that was the case when she picked up she could've just said, "Guardian Storage Mariam speaking please hold." Working in customer relations I was just floored by the attitude. In conclusion I only got my question partially answered. Note to the manager, please train your staff a little more on phone etiquette. read more

The place I was looking for. Affordable options for smaller storage and in a great location outside of Broadway-City hall skytrain station. I checked out other storage facilities but they didn't offer much flexibility and had confusing price structures. Guardian had more to choose from, up front affordable pricing, and great staff. read more

Facilities are nice and clean. The opening hours are only during business hours so you can't access the storage in other time. It has been two time I had to wait for the staff to open the door at 9 am during weekdays because they were late. When complained about this the answer I got was that I can find another storage. read more

Was with these guys for a couple months while in between homes. The new manager really cares about his business and it shows. The location is great, the price is good, and the storage space is... spacious. The hours aren't perfect but it's made up for by the price (less than half of anything else in Vancouver).
