Found them through the Clean Plate segment on Channel 10. So glad I did. The food is delicious. The staff is amazing and the prices are great. I almost didn't want to write this review because I don't want too many people finding out about this place but, they deserve all the good business coming their way. It's a tiny place with 2-3 tables inside and 3 or 4 outside. If it's full, just take your order to go. $56 total for carne guisada, seafood soup, one tamal, one taco, and two sodas. Some of the best tacos I've ever had. We ordered al pastor, chorizo, and asada and could not pick a favorite. The meat was extremely flavorful and the tortillas were thick and delicious. The portions of meat in each taco were very large as well. We also had the mixed papusa which was amazing and the corn tortilla was fresh and full of flavor. Could not recommend more. It is small inside but they gave a cute outdoor area to eat as well. read more

We have lived in the Plantation area, just west of the Guatemala Restaurant, for 26 years. Somehow, it just popped up on our radar. The owner/server says it has been there for 24 years. It is on the north side of Davie Boulevard just east of 441 (across from the Edco trophy center). It's easy to miss. The place is small with seating for about 6 in very close quarters. Take-out is a better idea. So, that's what we did. We got two chicken tacos, a pork tamale, and a beef stew. (The latter was recommended by a man who I think was an owner/server.) The wrappers on the chicken tacos were very authentic and seemed homemade. The chicken was spiced and the taco filled with cilantro and bits of onions. But they were both very salty and very greasy. The tamale melted in our mouths. But we often had to spit out the bones that carried the meat. I have never had a tamale with bones before. We ordered pork. Maybe they used pork ribs? The beef stew was beef soup. Chunks of beef in a clear broth with corn on the cob, carrots, yuca, and coyote. We did get rice with it. But did the server misunderstand our order? I was perfectly capable of ordering in Spanish. But I didn't see the need when the gentleman's English was crisp and perfect. Is this how Guatemalan's make their stew? Or did we get beef soup? I looked up the stew online and it should have a brown gravy. I am convinced we got beef soup by mistake. I definitely would go back and get a tamale with meat chunks (no bones) because good tamales are difficult to find. Maybe next time I could get a real stew and not soup? We shall see. read more

I have lived in South Florida for 12 years and the dinner I had here last night is bar none the best meal I've ever had in Florida. The food was fresh, seasoned perfectly, clearly made from scratch and just delectable. The rice and beans alone will blow your mind. We had beef stew and the meat was tender, flavorful, not too greasy, and just tasty. We also got beef tacos and all I can say is just yum. The horchata tasted homemade and had a beautiful flavor of toasted rice and cinnamon. We also ordered two types of tamales and it was too much food so we saved those for lunch today. Can't wait to unwrap those delicious little presents and see what magic they have waiting for us. read more

This is a hole in the wall restaurant that has a L shape counter space with only 6 seats. You can see the kitchen and the food being prepared. I ordered only one chicken taco & holy moly! It's the best taco i've had in a LONG time! It was stuffed with chicken & very flavorful. The bean and cheese palisades were amazing! My husband said the shrimp ceviche had a lot of flavor but he wished it was white fish ceviche. Overall, this authentic Guatemalan restaurant is a GEM! The food was awesome & very flavorful. Phenomenal every time I visit. Best tacos I've ever had and such a cozy place filled with kind people! The Al Pastor taco knocked it out the park and the tortillas were such high quality. Authentic Guatemalan mom and pop restaurant. This small shop is ran by a family. There are no tables, they only have less than ten counter bar stools to eat and the kitchen is open so you can see exactly what they are doing. The place looks run down and in desperate need of upgrades and maybe some paint. it is located right on Davie Blvd. in a small shopping plaza and parking is limited but there isn't much action in the mini-mall. Now just because the place needs some up-keeping doesn't mean the food is no good...don't let looks scare you away, the food is another story. And the food is why I gave this review 4 stars. We came here for breakfast and ordered the following: Guatemalan breakfast: scrambled eggs with tomatoes, carne asada (grilled meat), refried beans, queso blanco (white cheese) and crema (kind of like sour cream). Deeelicious! Chicken Tacos: small but the chicken was actually tasty. Topped with tomatoes, cilantro and onions. Pupusa de Chicharron y queso: Corn meal semi tortilla filled with pork small chunks and cheese. There is plenty of pique (pickled veggie hot sauce) on the counter to add to these treats. All of that for less than $20. I must say everything we ordered was delicious and so authentic. Again, food was amazing! I was a little disappointed they didn't have café con leche (coffee with milk) even though they had it on the menu and some other items as well. Don't come here for service or a luxurious dining experience, come here to eat a good plate of home style Guatemalan food! read more

This place was superior to all the other taco spots in the neighborhood. HANDS DOWN BEST STEAK TACOS no other can compare ! Stopped in here for taco Tuesday with the hubby and I had ordered 1) steak 1)chicken 1)beef tacos. He however ordered 2)chicken 2)steak 2)barbecue pork tacos. A long with a side of plantains. All we could both say at the end of lunch was just "wow" . We've been living in this area for almost a year now & have driven past this tiny hole in the wall, mom & pop spot a bunch of times. Would've never thought to check it out considering how small the restaurant is up until a guest of ours referred them to us . I am so happy they did because I will be back here every Tuesday for my steak tacos. I am looking forward to trying their tamales unfortunately they were out today. The restaurant inside is very small, yet very clean . About 6 barstools for seating inside . The food only took about 7-8 minutes to cook from the moment we placed our order . 10/10 will be a returning customer & referring them to anyone looking for a good taco :-) read more

Great hole-in-the-wall place. As others said, no real tables, just counters. It's a place for the locals.l, so that means pretty darn good food. I had a beef and pork taco (carne asada and al pastor). Both delicious. Love that grilled flavor. I also had the grilled chicken platter and my bf had the grilled shrimp platter. Chicken was a little dry for my taste, but great flavor. Shrimp also a little over cooked. The rice and beans were really tasty tho. I also had sweet plantains, which were cooked and tasted as I would expect. Tacos were the best. The flavor was just perfect. I saw a bunch of locals order their chicken stew, and I should have tried that instead of the grilled chicken. Next time! I also liked their homemade hot chili/vegetable pickles. It's really used as a spicy condiment but I think I ate a lot of that. Haha. Pricing is good. On the cheaper side. Tacos were all about $2 each. Platters $14-$16. Service was great for what it is! This restaurant is really authentic to the Guatemalan culture and food with other options as well. The pupusas mix was very good cheesy. The horchata wasn't too sweet which is good and hard to find. Tiny little place. Seating can be tight at the few spots but the food and service is good. Coming into a restaurant like this can be a bit intimidating if you're not familiar with the food or from the actual country but this place was very welcoming, friendly and didn't make you feel uncomfortable. This is a small restaurant that one would typically refer to as 'mom-and-pop' shop. This being said, the food is very incredibly fresh, tasty, authentic and is made right in front of you. pupusas are super delicious, beef tacos are super tasty, tortillas are made exactly how they are in Guatemala and rellenitos con frijoles are super delish! I usually get the tacos best tacos is the neighborhood if you ask me and the food is prepared and cooked right in front of you as the kitchen is visible.
