After concluding an art class nearby, my friend and I visited this small but mighty bakery. It was near Mother's Day, so the aromas of all those baked and beautifully decorated Mother's Day cakes were plentiful. My friend spoke Spanish to the lady behind the counter, and we wanted something fruity. We were led to some baked treats, and we purchased Apple-filled turnover, cherry turnover, and a guava turnover. All the pastries were delicious. The crusts were flaky, but I wish the filling were more abundant. The fillings were not made from scratch, but it does scratch the itch. Delicious pandebono! Nice crunchy bite on the outside with a soft, bouncy, and cheesy texture on the inside as expected - $2.50 each. There are a few small tables available inside to sit and enjoy your baked goods. There's a language barrier (Spanish speaking), but as long as you point to what you what and tell the employee how many, you can get by. I was confused when I asked if they accepted Google Pay; she said yes but just stood there staring at me. It took me nearly 30-40 seconds of waiting to realize that I have to get my phone to the Google Pay screen and actually give her my phone for her to scan behind the counter instead of having the payment more accessible for me to scan it myself lol. read more

First time going here, the display of items looked tasty and great. Unfortunately, the items I purchased all had a weird taste. This little bake shop in downtown Hightstown has been on my list for sometime. They have a beautifully decorated selection of sweet treats including cakes, tarts, and cupcakes. They also focus on sweet breads. The items come from a Bakery in Trenton and I was told everything is baked fresh daily. I bought a piece of Tiramisu ($3.00) and a croissant ($1.50). I shared the Tiramisu with my husband (his favorite dessert). He was very pleased with it and it was good. The croissant was very large, soft, and fresh. It toasted up very nice and flakey for breakfast the next morning. The prices are reasonable and the service was good. read more

I'm proud to say that I get most of my cakes from Guatepan. They are absolutely delicious. I usually get the cake the day of an event, but they do have made to order cake. I recently had to order a bigger cake and they have so many varieties of fillings and toppings. I ordered a cake the day before my grandpa's 80th birthday! It was a 12 inch vanilla cake with peaches and cream filling. The topping was a variety of glazed mixed fruit and the sides were coated with chocolate. This cake was for my father's birthday and was already pre-made. It was a smaller vanilla cake with pineapple filling. The cake was topped with glazed fruit and the sides were coated with coconut flakes. The cake was amazing! The cakes are always moist, fresh, and full of flavor. I thoroughly enjoy getting our cakes from Guatepan. I have also tried some of their pastries and they are equally as delicious. read more

Ordered a tres leches for my daughter's 13th bday party. it was the worst tres leches I have had in my life! It looks like they pour regular milk on top of the cake then decorate it. It tasted like regular vanilla cake dipped in 2% milk! The moisture was very watery and the cake had no sugar. Mostly everyone left their piece and some said "I'm sorry, it's not good". My wife and I first stumbled upon this little bakery after walking by on Memorial Day after the parade and getting two pastries. Delicious! We just ordered a variety of pastries and desserts for a small party and it was definitely a big hit the guests.
