This is the worse job I have ever had, I've been working FT for way over a decade now and I have never had the problems I had here. Oh and they are not even BBB accredited and I can see why.
When I began here I was excited, a cooking job that's daytime M-F with benefits I thought I had struck gold. I even did research. But I was so wrong
1st the benefits aren't even affordable for an individual let alone a family. 2ND if your hired chances are they don't put you in the position you thought you applied for.
I didn't know what my position was till day 3 or 4 of employment, and it wasn't what I applied for. The first manager I was under didn't care, the second manager did ok for the numbers but had no business managing people what so ever, he was lazy, belligerent, cocky, power hungry, dramatic, deceitful, disrespectful, a real snake of a guy. I'm not kidding this guy gave me real negative feelings the whole time I knew him.
He spent a good chunk of time on facebook instead of helping his employees while they sweat-ed and skipped breaks to get the job done. Only if he was forced or putting up a front he would help. He poked, prodded and was down right mean to everyone, especially his strongest kitchen staff. He never took responsibility for his mistakes or belligerence, staff suffered. He gossiped like a teenage girl and lied when he was caught.
He attacked me one day in a very very bad manor full of verbal abuse while I was on the clock, and of course after taking it for a min. I retaliated. I made a formal complaint, and was told to wait and see if it gets better. So because I thought I liked the company, I did. I took this managers abuse for much longer then necessary, making complaints the whole time before I said enough is enough. So what do they do, instead of transferring him or firing him, they transferred me, I had to leave the kitchen I had become very accustomed to, with decent coworkers and customer relationships.
When I was doing my transfer, I thought I was told I would be going to a similar position. But slowly I was being demoted to make everyone else happy, why? I was working just as hard if not harder when I first transferred. But over time and knowing your being pushed out you lose your motivation.
I felt Guckenheimer was trying to make me quit or just didn't care if I did. Eventually I did quit, I had enough of a company who openly admitted I was just money, would keep an manager such as the one above and labeled me a trouble maker as soon as I made a legitimate complaint. I believe they handled this situation in a very poor manor, and kept the wrong employee happy. This guy is going to end up with more harassment or sexual harassment complaints if he doesn't change his approach and attitude.
I was nothing but dedicated, understanding, hard working, and honest with everything, until I was showed it didn't matter.
On the positive side most of the actual kitchen staff including Sous Chefs, and Executive Chefs in all the locations I had been, are mostly all really good people that deserve much more in many aspects especially respect. And I will say the same for maybe 5 out of many managers I had the pleasure of meeting. read more
