That summer, we prepared and filed for my husband's green card on our own. A year later, USCIS denied my husband's green card and we were promptly sent a "you must leave the country in thirty days" letter. My husband and I went into full panic mode. Fast-forward 11 years, and at age of 18, my parents and I, we received our permanent residency. There, my status stood for 3 decades, because I really didn't see the need to do anything about it. Then various incidents started being reported around immigration enforcement. I sensed times are changing, and with that, a need for me to obtain citizenship to protect my family. I chose Wildes & Weinberg for a number of reasons. Because of the lengthy time between my obtaining a green card and, well, today, I had a few complications around records keeping of the various shenanigans I've gotten into. I also wanted a firm large enough to be able to provide 24/7 support should I need it, but not so large that I'd be lost in the numbers. Armed with my criteria, I sent an email to about a dozen firms.
