I have always had an issue with local anaesthetics not working very well. I also have Rheumatoid arthritis and Fibromyalgia, so I have issues with pain and flare ups after dental work. BUT, I have to say that the services I received at Lakeside Family Dental were excellent. The hygienist was wonderful and gentle, as was Dr. Mathew. For the first time in my life the local anesthetic worked perfectly. I didn't feel any pain at all. The anesthetic wore off quite quickly and I was not in any pain afterwords. The procedure did not cause any flare ups of my conditions. I have already recommended them to family and friends. Dr. Mathew is the best dentist I have ever had.

Without a doubt she is exceptional at what she does. She keeps you informed, is very gentle in her treatments and is extremely knowledgeable. Without a doubt I trust her implicitly. Her assistant Ingrid is very friendly as well and ensures you are comfortable. I have also dealt with some of the other staff dentists and I found them to be just as friendly and helpful. I understand there were some changes at the front reception when they first started at this location but all is settled. I get to sit back and watch the news or even Seinfeld while they professionally work to get my teeth healthy and sparkling. Dr. "B" is a gem.

This office is basically staffed by angels. Every single person was excellent. Leanne, the office manager, is so kind and welcoming and efficient, and she responds very promptly. As soon as I got back to my office I saw that she'd already sent me my full receipt via email! Stephanie, my hygienist, and Dr. Aisling Whitaker, my dentist, are both gentle and compassionate and ethical and thorough. They carefully reviewed my medical history/profile, which I was invited to fill online prior to my appointment, and approached my appointment with my previous experiences in mind. As weird as it sounds, the whole cleaning and exam experience was just very...well, relaxing. I got to leave the office and stop thinking about work for the duration of my appointment. What I like most is that their practice is full of integrity. There was no forceful, pushy selling of things I didn't want or need - which was my experience at the last dental office I went to and why I was looking for a new one. They pointed out things that weren't immediate concerns but should be kept an eye on, and told me about options I might consider down the road. The second thing I appreciated the most is how thorough they were. Dr. Whitaker walked me through my xrays and photos to explain the health of my teeth, gums, and jaws, section to section. She even pointed out a weird growth in my sinus on the 360 xray that needs to get checked out. Luckily, I already have an appointment with an ENT - not about that, but now I know to bring this up to his attention - but even if I didn't, she did mention that she can write referrals to dental surgeons or ENTs to get it looked after. She even asked me to ask my family doctor to forward them any CT scans or other diagnostics my ENT does, so that they are all on the same page. I really appreciate their collaborative approach, how they will coordinate with your other health practitioners to ensure you're looked after from all perspectives. I can't recommend them enough! (Also, I'm really embarrassed to add that I can't remember the name of the person who took my xrays and photographs, but she was great, too. Very kind and patient and she had really steady hands.)

My wife and I had both been looking for a new dentist after we were underwhelmed with our last…read moreappointment (about a year ago). Our stretch of Danforth is really well-served by dentists, but we were very interested in this new, well-appointed "Dental Hygiene Spa" kitty-corner to our local park. We'd heard good things, but only went ourselves very recently. First, and this is important: Impressions isn't a dentist's ofice - it's run by dental hygienists. (The Ontario government made it possible for dental hygienists to operate without a dentist's supervision with the Health System Improvements Act of 2007.) While they can refer you to a dentist, all they can do in-house is cleaning (scaling), polishing, sealing and fluoride treatments. That's enough for me, and I trust that someone who sees teeth all day can recognize a cavity, but they don't have an X-Ray machine, so they can't see between teeth; if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere. I was really impressed with Impressions. Georgia, the hygienist who worked on my teeth (potentially their only hygienist?), was gentle but very thorough. I had a full examination beforehand, then a full scaling & polish. Before she starts the examination, though, she dips your hand in a bath of (hot, but not boiling) paraffin wax, then puts your hands in plastic bags and then (and I found this part cute!) oven mitts to keep the wax warm longer. I'd never had a paraffin wax treatment, and I really found it made my hands lovely & soft. And to have it at the dentist? unthinkable! My wife generally has trouble with her teeth and needs a lot of thorough cleaning, but she said Georgia was gentle and didn't hurt her gums much, a huge plus for her. Natalie, the receptionist/administrator, was really organized, and she contacted my insurance provider to find out exactly what was covered under my plan, then laid it out for me in a document she prepared. My only gripe is that we had to pay, then wait for the insurance company to reimburse us, rather than the thing I've seen a lot of other dentists do, send the form in to the insurance company and get them to send a cheque directly. She did send the form in for us, though, so it's not all bad news. All-in-all, we were really impressed, and we'll definitely be back. Impressions is a really great addition to the neighbourhood!

The hygienists at Impressions were super thorough and explained everything. They do an initial checkup, charting your teeth and gums. My teeth were heavily stained and they were able to clean them up perfectly. Not only that but they discovered the issue. I was using bad mouthwash! Above and beyond that, they give you a paraffin wax hand treatment to help relax you before they do the cleaning. I'll definitely be coming back!
