My teacher sent me to buy a Yamaha and there was one on sale with some other items that went with it. I was super excited to go to Guitar Center yesterday because they were having HU-GE Memorial Day Sale (15% off selected items at least $199 or more). I already knew what I wanted, the Yamaha Digital Keyboard P-115B. Ian, a really cool sales accoiciate showed me all the best Yamaha keyboards the first time I came here to Guitar Center about a month ago. The Yamaha P-115B was the best 88 full sized keyboard that sounded very close to a piano then the rest. It cost $699 which was not bad at all. There was another Yamaha that Ian showed me, which was more expensive ($1,200+) where the keys were more weighted like a piano, but there was no way I could afford that one. I did not need help right away when I came to Guitar Center because I already knew where the Yamaha P-115B keyboard was located. I saw the price cut from $699 to $599-yippee! I tested it out with the pedal that came with it and it sucked! I asked for assistance and Rok, another cool guy at Guitar Center helped me out. He got me two pedals to try out, the Yamaha FC4 Sustain Pedal and the Proline Professional Sustain Pedal. Because I needed to try the pedals with music scores, Rok was nice, fast on his feet and brought me a couple of music books, even though he was also busy helping another customer. After trying out the two pedals, I thought the Yamaha FCA Sustain Pedal was better, it felt smoother when I pressed on and off the pedal. I had more questions about the Yamaha Keyboard, and another customer service sales person was able to track down Rok right away. He showed me how to use the sound on and off boost and the speakers on and off on the keyboard. I knew I only had $500 left on my Guitar Center Card. I told him this when he was helping me with my purchase. Rok was so cool and awesome! He made a phone call inquiring about my Guitar Center Card and asked the lady if I could add a few more hundreds to my credit card, if I qualified. I talked to the lady and qualified. Since I had more credit, I eventually bought a dust cover along with the keyboard. I told Rok I was going to buy the pedal, and a cheaper piano bench similar to theirs on Amazon so I wouldn't have to deal with added APR interest, even though I believe there wasn't going to be interest on the insurance/ financing. I appreciate the staff here at Guitar Center so much! They are very friendly, helpful, awesome and nice! Kudos to both Ian and now Rok! Rok was super nice to help me load my keyboard to my car cuz it was in a heavy well protected box. He even was impressed with the music I was playing on the keyboard! Ha! I was just playing some Disney songs to test out the pedals-LOL! But also playing covers of songs I created. It's always nice to hear people compliment my piano skills and ability. I have done lots of transactions with GC Concord. I find the Customer Service steadily good. I like the 45 day no questions asked return policy. Upon trading in a amp the clerk told me it qualified for an additional trade in time due to Covid, so that worked out great. One manager really worked with me regarding numerous Stratocaster exchanges, and the repair guys is a kick in the butt. Does good work. read more

I bought a bass here a few days ago that had just came in from the manufacturer. I didn't inspect it too much before taking it home and found that the volume knob attached to the input jack was loose and beyond my repair abilities. I came back about 4 days later and within a few steps of entering the shop I was greeted by the guitar tech James who was working on what seemed like an extensive restoration project. He completely dropped what he was doing to fix my guitar and did it within about 10 minutes. I was originally a little annoyed that I had to bring it back as it was brand new, but James definitely provided the best-case scenario. much appreciated read more

From the individual who first fielded my call regarding whether or not they had any acoustic-electric guitars for rent, to the two staff members who helped me through the rental and return processes, I'm happy to report that I have had nothing but great experiences with staff here at the Concord Guitar Center. I called the Guitar Centers in Emeryville and Dublin and neither of them had acoustic-electric guitars for rent. Concord, on the other hand, had a wonderful 2015 Taylor 114ce Grand Auditorium on hand. I came by this past Saturday and Justin C. walked me through the rental. There are various rates depending on how long you need it (e.g., daily, weekend, weekly, etc.); I'm sure if you call ahead and ask they can provide you the quotes and info. I just needed it for a day (Saturday evening practice and a Sunday worship service) and it was $39.99 for the guitar and the sturdy Road Runner RRMADN case (NOTE: no guitar strap is included). They do tack on a $20 rental deposit upon retrieving the instrument, but that drops off your credit card when you return it. Guitar Center also offers you an optional $25 liability damage waiver fee which I went with just in case. Please note that they'll ask you for your cell phone number, email address and ID (for home address and also, I assume, to verify whatever credit card you're using). I also had to sign some paperwork when I rented the guitar and when I returned it - the usual acknowledgements, etc. All in all, it was a quick and easy process that met all of my needs... in addition to enticing me to buy my own Taylor, haha. read more

Do not ever bring your business to this guitar center they will lie, cheat and steal to get one over you. A couple of weeks ago I sold my used amp at guitar center. This kid at the counter tried to tell me my amp is only worth $20 and that It was a fender mustang v1. Unfortunately for this kid I know my gear its a fender mustang v2 and worth more. His reaction was that of a child caught with his pants down. He even insisted I look at ebay on his computer to coax me into thinking my amp was a v1. So I asked for the manager. His voice cracked and i could tell he was trying to low ball me big time. Sure enough the manager came and I said is that the best you cam do!? Manager looked at my amp and all of a sudden realizes its a v2 and its worth $45 like he wasn't in on the swindling. I swear guitar center has degraded over the years. Employing unethical tactics on unsuspecting customers. Never spending a dime there again, never recommending this franchise and will retell this story forever. read more

I would like to start of and say this was my first time coming into this store with my boyfriend. He was looking for a cordless mic and was turned town by RICHARD. When my Boyfriend asked RICHARD for his help or where the wireless Microphones were located he pointed and said right over there but they are pretty pricey. Like OKAY? And then when we left that room while helping one on one with another customer which he never bothered to do with us he said "yeah all of a sudden people want to buy mics" RICHARD WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I bought 2 Gibson LPs from them Korg Kronos and Roland Jupiter X they go all the way to please the customer experience by replacing the string with the new one setting it up, and also oiling up the fretboard! they check the Kronos and Roland in front of me to make sure all items are ok and go over the items in detail! no other store goes beyond this service and it makes me feel appreciated as a customer. I highly recommended this store, they even go to let me know to come on certain days of the month when there are big sales going on so I can save some more money. read more

My online, via Youtube, Ukulele teacher had his account suspended. I'm devastated. That means I have to go out and buy my own books on learning the Ukulele. When I walked in I was greeted warmly by an employee, who also opened the door for me. Then I walked around the corner where I saw the books. Then I was warmly greeted again by another employee behind the counter who I then asked where the Ukulele music was. I was promptly directed to the area where they had a plethora of different levels of Ukulele music books. I was able to stand and browse until I found 2 books that I think will work out for the time being. I am actually looking forward to coming back once I learn all these books. Over time, I started dibbling and dabbling with other instruments and needing repairs and such "Bass Guitar, Many Drumsticks, Marching Drumsticks, Dj Gear" that in today's time my interest for all things music has evolved. Now in days the "Pro Audio" section gets most my attention in favor of the "Drum Room" I love being a hobby "Disk Jockey aka Dj" and I love being able to test out new Turntables, CDJ's and Dj Controllers. I took up "DJing" in highschool back in 2001. I can say I'm pretty hooked now and this, my local Guitar Center never let's me down when it comes to displaying the goodies :D Service 5/5 Merchandise 5/5 Display and Setup 5/5 Each department is equipped with friendly and knowledgeable staff that is willing to to the extra mile to make sure you have what you need, or can find or order what you need if they do or don't have it there. One cool thing about this place is you will never know who you would run into "Celeb Wise" when you come in here. I've ran into a few over the years. Will I be coming back for more? This is my go-to local hometown Guitar Center and I LOVE this location. It's cozy enough to be able to get around and go from section to section to see what's new and what's not, but still big enough to hold a decent selection. As a guitar player, I LOVE going into their Acoustic Guitar room, humidified and separated from the rest of the store, which brings a light and airy space with the perfect acoustics to hear the guitars shine. The acoustics are hung up all over the room, with a middle post in which you can sit and play at with guitars hanging on it as well. There are also two separate rooms inside of that room for classical guitars and the more expensive, high-end/quality guitars. I love being in that space since you can plug their guitars into some of their acoustic amps and jam away. Each of the rooms definitely cater to several people as they are separated so as to not wash your guitar-playing sounds with another in the room, and it also gives you a bit of privacy. The room is absolutely gorgeous in general and I love standing in the middle of the room amongst all those guitars! A musician's heaven/playground FOR SURE. Employees also seem very chill and willing to help, although I haven't had much need from them since I usually just purchase the necessities (strings, picks) online or find them easily myself. Their prices seem to be very generous as well as they often mark-down prices to compare with original or competing prices. I usually go here to fiddle around with their guitars, mandolins, banjos and electrics, as it's a great place to test out new pieces before purchasing; but, I'm sure the employees can answer any questions you may have. Sometimes I find their selection slim as it isn't the "Heaven" of all Heavens, and they don't have ALL the greats or even a wide selection of books and whatnot, but they do have the necessities at a decent price. They're offering free ukelele lessons the whole month of October. When I saw my friend's tweet, I signed up immediately. Since I have barely touched my guitar, I figured this might provide me some inspiration to start playing both. I showed up and the class was already packed with young kids and adults of all ages. It was awesome to see so many people interested in the class. Our instructor is also really enthusiastic which helped a lot. I've only been to two classes so far, but they're really great. Since I don't have a ukelele to practice with, Mike, our instructor (he also works there) helped me pick up some tools where I can turn my guitar into a ukelele so I can actually practice. These tools can also be used for my guitar in the future anyway. He didn't try to upsell and he made sure what I was getting suited my needs. He even tipped me off to some sales and deals going on at the moment. I will be back for all of my musical needs if I cannot find them elsewhere. read more

We went to the back back room to find the perfect guitar to be my birthday, Christmas, and all other miscellaneous presents for the next twenty years of my life :). Scott was really nice, patiently answered all of my questions, pulled down guitar after guitar for me to try. I'm pretty sure they overprice so that they can offer you a "deal" on things. I'm also pretty sure that they work on some sort of commission. Regardless, he was friendly and attentive, even when my grandma, who was with me, talked his ear off about me (as grandmas tend to do). They did so I drove here as soon as I could. I'm a sucker for instant gratification... Justin from the drums department took real good care of me. The drum set I wanted to purchase was paired with at amp at a nice price on their website so he pulled some strings to grant me that same deal in-store. It's the Alesis Nitro Mesh 8 Piece one. It's well reviewed.. for anyone who might wonder. Anyway! He suggested/picked out some nylon tip drumsticks for me as well, and when we were finished, he helped load it into my car. My son Cris signed up for one month lesson and notified one of the staff that he will only be doing one month as he will be starting school and will not know his schedule. The instructor did not mention there policy and just acknowledge his comment. A month later his account was automatically charged up front one month of lesson. He spoke to a staff and was told he could not be refunded bc he would have needed to notify them via email or written communication. I too spoke to the manager and she said the same policy. I told her the instructor did not let my son know. But she insisted there is nothing she can do. GC you have one sneaky policy!!! You charge customers upfront and do not inform your customers!!! I've been coming to Guitar Center for over 20 years, and I can honestly say, the staff has improved greatly. Roughly 5 years ago I felt like the recommendations I would receive were more for the sale, than for the quality. It felt like everything was below my expectation. But NOW, I really feel like I'm being given honest, as well as perfect, recommendations for the needs of all of my instruments. Guitar center historically been great to work with. The COVID19 was an obvious disruption to many businesses and I understand. They finally opened a curb side pickup which also awesome. Is there a way to leave a 0 star review?? I made an order online Friday the 1st. The order said "processing" for 4 days. On day 4 I received an email letting me know that it was cancelled. With absolutely no information as to why? Only that I won't be getting my money back for approximately 5-7 business days. And the online chat services don't seem to be working correctly because every time I try to enter in the text box. It doesn't let me type anything. It's almost like they don't want me to inquire about this issue. Because when I called the call center I was on hold for about 15 minutes before it hung up completely by itself. This is a $1300 order. That was cancelled despite the fact that at this moment it still says that particular product is available online and "ready to ship." Well I made an order. And nothing is shipping. And I am currently out my $1300. I can't take my $1300 and go buy this equipment somewhere else that is actually capable of helping me. Because you didn't process the order properly. And I won't be able to get my money back for approximately "5-7 business days." So not only is this an incredible inconvenience. But Guitar Center has completely haulted my attempts to try to use my own money to buy myself some dj equipment. Because currently my money is in limbo with Guitar Center and my bank (and it's certainly not my banks fault). At this point Guitar has basically stolen my $1300 and ghosted me. I went to Guitar Center to purchase a dual subwoofer for some DJ gigs I have coming up. The speaker I had in mind packs a big punch but is bulky and not travel friendly. The employee who assisted me, Tauhid was super helpful. Very knowledgeable regarding the equipment but after he gave me all of the information I needed he suggested a much lighter set up that made more sense. He also helped me load up after my purchase. Customer service could be just a little bit better at the Concord Guitar Center. I understand that sometimes a store can be fairly busy, and sometimes, as a customer, I shouldn't expect anything special. But I do think that when it comes to courtesy, if it's provided, it can go a long way. To make this quick -- it goes without question that I would have paid full price for an open boxed item, despite the fact that it was missing a power adapter and it looked "used" -- because I really wanted to make this purchase. Unfortunately, the service I received was a bit tepid and condescending, based on my lack of knowledge around the particular product. I don't want to be too hard on their overall service. It was what it was and I still think that the Guitar Center is a great place, and if I'm in the neighborhood, I'll stop by and browse, and maybe make a purchase. However, it was this moment that really reinforced my drive to just make purchases online (through either Guitar Center or Amazon) because (it seems that) customer service is really starting to become a pastime, almost forgotten and rarely practiced. I recently bought my fiancé an electric guitar kit cause she wanted to learn how to play. We placed the order online and when I went in to pick it up immediately after entering I was greeted with great enthusiasm unlike other businesses where the employees just stand and look at you or sound like they don't wanna be there. Not a bass friendly environment anymore. There used to be a nice varied selection of bass guitars and bass guitar accessories. Now it's a teeny corner of mostly Fender stuff. And they took away the high end bass room. However, all that aside, they do have a fairly nice, if uniform, inventory, of all products. My band recently bought a mixer from there. And they have a decent stock of strings and pedals and whatnots. And the employees seem to know their stuff, for the most part. read more

This review is for Darius in particular. My fiancé and I needed a portable PA system on the fly. We were getting married and had hired a musician to perform at the venue. The venue didn't have a PA system and our singer had an emergency and needed to fly from LA to the North Bay instead of driving with all her equipment. I have spent $1000s at guitar centers over the last 25 years and I am not a fan of this location. Happened to be in the area and needed a single string after I broke my high e on my acoustic when putting on new strings yesterday. The employee was friendly and helpful once I got help, but no less than 5 employees walked by me and said nothing for about 10 minutes. The woman standing next to me getting help said the same happened to her for the first 10 minutes. The store was nearly empty and the staff just seemed to not care about customers standing by the register waiting for help. I have had this happen here previously too, about a year prior. Received a gift certificate for a guitar so time to make a selection. First I went to the Guitar Center in Dublin. Horrible customer service especially when there were hardly any Customers in there. After 1hr of looking and trying out guitars I left. I actually found a 700.00 guitar I wanted to purchase but was told they work on commission so I was not willing to reward anyone there for poor customer service. Sunday I decided to try again and drove to the Guitar Center in Concord. When I walked in I saw it to be a smaller store and it was extremely busy. I went into the drum Section because an employee later identified as Jasper Kelley made eye contact with me. I immediately approached him and told Him my story on trying to purchase a guitar. I said I could be like the person who wants to buy a bottle of wine but does not know much about wine and selects from the looks of the label. Jasper said guitars were not his speciality but he felt comfortable to assist me and provide me with information that I could make an informed decision. He was personable and professional, he answered every question I had. I found a guitar that fit me and he price matched it as well saving me tax. Even though Concord is a farther drive for me I will be taking my business there from now on and suggest the same to yelp readers. Recently I bought a full sound system (Speakers, Sub, wireless microphone, regular mic, profx mixer with 16 channel, wires, speaker stands) i got only the wires, stands and the sub from this location and I had to drive to another location to get the rest and even the other location didn't have all the equipment so they had to order it which totally I'm fine with that! But 1 week later I received the package and it was totally different than the receipt I have!! I forgot to mention that there was a guy helping me and when the clock reached 5 pm he was like sorry sir I'm leaving And I'll get somebody else to help you! I said ok that's fine but no body showed up for almost 45 min!! I came the second time to change the order and there was no one in the audio section. Also a guy from the drum section helped me after waiting almost an hour inside!!!! Turned out that the last sales person order a covers that not already in stock and guitar center sent me totally a bigger covers for my 15" speakers! They need to work on their management in concord, it's not a professional way to deal with the customer specially when they spend more than $4500 read more
