I first came to this store to check out their advertised guitar sale and Rigo immediately greeted me and offered his assistance. Rigo is very friendly, personable and sounds sincere in his demeanor. He gave me the freedom to browse around at my pleasure while checking on me back as often while assisting other customers. Outstanding customer service and respect. He found me the product I was looking for and gave me ton of information and recommendations. He also introduced me to their guitar master tech Jacinto whom I felt comfortable, thrust worthy and very knowledgeable in his craft that I finally had my guitars professionally setup and fine tuned for the first time in 20 years of playing guitar. The staff here is absolutely AMAZING! Andy was of tremendous help. I had all types of questions regarding mic cables, foot pedals, cases, etc. Andy treated me with sincere kindness and helped me out in a nonjudgmental kind of way, making me feel comfortable and supported. I ended up briefly speaking with the manager as well, who showed me the same value and respect. I even called back with additional questions when I got home, and was helped out again over the phone. We were able to find everything just fine. However, we were waiting in line for a while and the young lady with blondish hair had an rbf and would not help us. Made eye contact with us, gave us a look, and ignored us and let someone else who was there way later pay first. I find it quite rude that she acknowledged us the entire time and still chose to deny us help. The gentleman with semi long hair on the other hand, was great, he made sure we found everything we needed and helped us out. He was very apologetic. If you are black, DO NOT waste your time asking this associate for assistance.. So recently i've been having some issues with my audio interface and my guitar. I know this is a tedious issue to solve so I called the store beforehand asking if they could help me troubleshoot my system. The woman was very kind and helpful, I asked if I could come in the store and get help troubleshooting it and she said yes. As I entered the store I stopped this associate in the photo and explained how I called the store beforehand asked for troubleshooting assistance. He said he can assist me once he was done with his task, so I set up my equipment at the center table and patiently waited. 15 minutes go by and I see him circle back to the counter but the store was pretty busy so trusted that he was genuinely busy. But then 15 more minutes go by and he's still standing at the counter talking to the other associates, costumers that walked in, and simply even by himself trying to avoid eye contact with me.. At this point, I could tell he was blatantly ignoring us and had no intention on assisting us like he said he was. Granted it was 4:00 on a Sunday, it was somewhat busy. But if he was actually busy, the least he could do was have another associate assist us or reassure us- as we waiting 30 minutes.. Unfortunately, I believe this experience I faced today was racially motivated, so I won't be coming to this store anymore. I went to Guitar Center to grab some guitar strings and a cable. The guy at the counter, Emmanuel, took a personal phone call as I approached the counter and walked off to the back without helping me. Thankfully, another employee noticed, stepped in, and helped me find everything I needed. They completely turned the experience around. I believe his name was Luis or Luke, he had glasses and short hair. I don't know if managers are aware of such treatment to their customers but it really did bother me that he walked away without even saying a word to me. No greeting when I walked in as well. One is too much.... My review is not for any of the items sold at this store; in my opinion, Guitar Center has always exceeded my expectations when it comes to their product. My review is for management. Some arrogant and useless person by the name of Alejandra, chip on her shoulder and unable to reason with customers. I have been a GC customer for many years along with some of my friends, and never had a bad experience until this week. It would be nice to see personnel courteous and focused on customer satisfaction. The manager's cynical display of unethical behavior leaves a lot to be desired and falls short of the principles for excellence other stores offer day in and day out (La Mesa store, for example.,...) So Alejandra!!! You have very knowledgeable personnel, let them do their job.... you are not needed; you are useless, and they do a hell of a job without you....... too bad GC might be closing .... It's a shame I have to start going to the bigger store in La Mesa, a bit further from my house, but I would much rather deal with the good manners, professionalism, knowledge and people skills the La Mesa team have to offer. Julian welcomed me into the store, and helped me without hesitation! We had some nice conversation and then he helped me purchase some other items that I needed. Well, alright. This place has completely turned the corner since becoming a full-on Guitar Center location a while back. I had to swing by today to return a keyboard that I had purchased online, only to have it show up damaged. The staff greeted me quickly, and actually came out to the car to help load it on a cart. The manager apologized profusely for the poor pack job by the clowns at some GC in Florida, and quickly processed my refund. Really professional, and friendly bunch of guys, too. The merchandising is well done here; they make good use of limited space, and I can say that, while it's a small location, it's still a full service operation, and really worth the trip (and avoiding the one to La Mesa!) for us South Bay people. Good shop, great displays, and great staff- Well done GC San Ysidro; I'll be baaaaack! read more

Good prices on clearance and closeouts. Small selections of instruments compared to the retail stores but worth taking a look. Thus store is located right across from the San Ysidro Outlets so not really convenient unless you have a gig in TJ (or something like that). read more

I've been cruising in here for a while now, long enough to remember the awful, smelly, loud air conditioner and the remnants of whatever clothing store was there before GC that they were too lazy to take down. They didn't have any strings unless you liked Ernie Ball. Sometimes they had good deals, but it was on stuff that was passed over at other stores. Nowadays, it's a "real" guitar center. This isn't really that factual, but they finally have rotosound strings, so I don't have to drive to la Mesa to get decent strings anymore. Their current selection is paltry, but at least they have a few American standard fenders lurking around. It's nice that it is close to imperial beach, but it is not nearly as nice as GC La Mesa. read more

Placed an online order in the morning for same day pickup and called the store to confirm the item availability before ordering. I was assured the item was there, new, and ready to be picked up that day. I went ahead and ordered the item. I ended up calling near the end of the day to follow up and they told me they were shipping in a new instrument as it actually was not in stock. This was after they said my name wasn't in their system (and then I gave my order conf. which confirmed it actually was) Unsure why their website and employee gave me incorrect information. I'm also unsure why they didn't reach out to me in a timely matter when they realized they would have to order a new one. Now, I have to wait a few days to get my refund and an instrument from a different place since they were not transparent with me about the ordering. If I had known it wasn't in stock, I simply would've found one somewhere else. Now I'm out a couple hundred and have no instrument. read more

I was actually thinking of coming to this guitar place to get my sister's equipment as a Christmas present. But after hearing my dad's experience I honestly can't believe they treated him with such a rush. So my dad went to the store today and he told me that the employees made him feel uncomfortable. They rushed him to get his stuff and I get it was in COVID but I have never never heard about a store that rushes their customers and gives them a time limit to buy things during this pandemic. They never warned him about a time limit or anything. At the end of the day, he thought twice and was close to buying a couple of things but the way they treated him was the turning point. I love music but it's only until recently that I've had a passion to learn to play an instrument. After much thought, I go with the piano! I research for a few days and see that the Williams Allegro 2 is a great starter piano and so I'm excited to see that the store in San Ysidro (I live in San Ysidro) has it! I go to the store and no one says "hi" or "welcome" but I'm like whatever, I'm too excited and so I'm gonna look for the piano and test it to make it feels right. And it does!! But I also wanna buy a stand and a bench too and maybe some piano sheet books...what's good for a beginner? I don't know. Maybe they do!? And so I wait...and wait.... and wait.... and wait. I kid you not, I'm waiting close to 25-30 minutes and the entire time the crew is behind the register, laughing and shooting the s**t with the security guard. That's when I'm like "screw it" and get the attention of the lady with striped hair near the counter. I tell her that I would like to purchase the Williams Allegro 2 but guess what?.........they don't have a new one in stock! You've got to be kidding me!! They only have an opened box piano. Then I ask her if I can have an extra discount on that one since it is open box but she says that she can't do anything since it was already on sale from $299 to $239. That's when I left. I had cash in my pocket, ready to buy a piano and accessories but ignoring me for close to 30 minutes and not at least giving some sort of discount made me leave with a really really bad taste in my mouth. They've taken all the excitement from purchasing my first piano. This caused me to file my first-ever store complaint (OF ANY KIND) to Guitar Center Customer Support due to them ignoring me for half an hour. read more

5 stars for making my @ss laugh so hard. This store got the name wrong. It should be called The Bone Yard of Guitar Center or simply "I Don't Work." 90% of the items here do not work! Have you ever been in a store where just about everything had a note that said "I don't work?" LOL Please refer to my pics for a good @ss laugh! The drum kits work but the drum heads are used. The guitars look used. The few items not used and that DO work are locked in cases. Cracks me up! Table of CD DJ mixers don't work, lighting don't work, mics & headphones don't work, speakers and monitors don't work. And Guitar Center regular stores is notorious, NOTORIOUS for not helping customers and ignoring them. As noted at this locations yelp reviews. So apparently the workers don't even work! LMBO !!!!! And who the heck are the patrons buying non-working equipment at still an expensive price??? Here's a rhetorical question: Why? lol So 5 stars for making me laugh so hard. I forgot what was making me grouchy. Negative 5 stars coz I do not see why this place is in business selling stuff that don't work. Definitely can't make or record music. I should have read the reviews for this store prior to driving all the way down to San Ysidro.....So for anyone on the fence about this place, let me help you out *****THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!***** DO NOT GO HERE!!! ******* Prior to visiting this location, I called with some inventory questions and the girl that I spoke with was extremely unprofessional, not helpful at all, and made it seem like I was ruining her life by asking if they had any 7 string guitars in stock..... I should have taken that as a red flag, but I'm new to San Diego, and was desperate to find the perfect gift for my husband. Fast forward a few days later and I make it down to the store and I was met with a sad, pathetic hodgepodge of broken, overpriced gear, and three sales people all sitting/standing behind the back sales counter texting and talking. Aside from the three useless employees the store was a complete ghost town, except for some unattended children running around, playing tag, and simultaneously playing with guitars/drums, anything that they could get their grubby little hands on. Fortunately, I knew what I was looking for so I didn't need any help, but damn..... can you at least greet me? I came here looking to spend several hundreds of dollars, and you can't even be bothered to speak to me? Swerve! This store looks and feels like a dumpster where music equipment goes to die. There are tacky signs posted on any available wall-space throughout the store that say "items purchased here can only be returned for store credit" and it just felt like anything bought here was either #1 already broken, or #2 going to break as soon as I get it home, and then I'd be stuck with it. Compared to other music stores that I've been to, this place is the absolute bottom of the barrel.... and even when you throw in that it's an outlet store (I was expecting older and/or discontinued/slightly damaged items), there is absolutely nothing that could have prepared me for how overwhelmingly shitty this "Guitar Center Outlet Store" is. read more

I went in there the other day trying to get a guitar, I asked the front desk if I could talk to a guitar tech knowing he would know his stuff, and they all looked at a certain associate, and he started to help me. Thinking he was a guitar tech I asked him for the details of a guitar and I asked him too, before hand I don't want basswood, I was going to drop like $700 so I want a good quality guitar. After I showed him the guitar I was looking at he told me it was a maple guitar. After couple days and I did some reseach I found out it was a basswood guitar. I went back to the store to see whay I can do to get my money back, and at first they gave me an attitude before I told them what had happen, and quickly they started being nice. I asked to talk to the store manager and they redirected me to a lead, even thou I had seen the store manager walk back, so basiaclly they refused to even let me talk to him. After they helped me with the situation, it turns out i can get my money back cash how I paid, it was throu a check, it would have been nice if they told me that before hand. This plce is very unprofessional, they have to teach there associates about the equipment there and not just jump on a sale, just seeing customers and cash machines. So i did get my money back as a check. I have spent alot of money going there so after this I will not being back to any guitar center and prefer to support local music shop. read more

They will literally steal from you, I just went there a couple of minutes ago purchased two cables and the price they have marked on the floor don't match what they charge you at the registers, they didn't even wanna honor the price that they had marked and you can totally tell their employees are not well Trained on how to deal with these type of situations, I had to report them to the FTC for fraud!!! I ordered a bass and all the accessories for a next day pick up. The next day, they called me to let me know that they didn't have the bass in stock, but had a floor model that hadn't even been touched since they're not allowing people to play the instruments due to COVID and would give me a 10% discount if I felt comfortable taking it. As soon as I got there they asked me if I needed help and brought everything out. I brought up the 10% discount and he said he would take care of it later, I was a bit worried I might have to call back the next day to remind them- but they did honor it and very quickly. Chris and Maura were great in helping me pick out a guitar since my left hand tremor can make guitar playing quite difficult. The service and prices are excellent. Guitar Center has fairly good prices but with the web I rarely shop there plus I like to avoid tax so I just buy from an online dealer that is not in the state of Ca. Such a disappointing experience! They were two "over weight" sales girls (I'm describing, not discriminating, as I am over weight myself), one of them in particular had no clue what she was selling. When I gently asked her to let me try the Behringer PA/Keyboard amp (that she didn't know what it was until i explained), then suddenly she said something like.. " ohh this was returned because the costumer said it only works with a specific keyboard) ! Woow I have 25+ years of experience in music (live and studio) and have never seen such an attitude in particular in music shops! Then I said, this makes no sense, if it works then it works, please let me try it with my Godin Multioud she replied as if she was all knowing, "you wanna try this amp with a guitar?!" I said YES let me choose and decide if the tone is ok to my needs! She could not lift the amp, and said (in a lazy voice ) to the nicer sales girl "ohhh we need a dolly to move it! I asked where do you guys want to take it, and once she pointed, I moved it myself it was only 18ft! Then the sales girl said " ok but ill have to try this amp with a keyboard" woooow! She does not know that you can try the Behringer ULTRATONE K3000 FX with whatever source if you know how to match the gain! A keyboard, guitar, or a passive mixer! And insisted on not helping me, probably she didn't even know how turn the thing on!! I simply said "forget about it and left" while the nicer sales girl said, "Ohh wait... she just wanna try it on a keyboard" Guitar Center, do you know how sweetwater and amazon treat their customers? That wasn't professional and your (order taker) didn't even wanna sell!! I don't want this preview to impact or effect other good sales people, but what happened today was unacceptable. read more
