Yeah this ain't it. The amount of times I've called in and been given the hold run-away to 5 different departments speaks volumes. Mind you, I've been banking with GWCU for almost 5 years now and I'm just astounded by how much it's declined. Recently, they couldn't tell me why my debit card was declining everywhere even though I had funds, no outstanding accounts, no balances, etc. In terms of customer experience, I've only ever had one sour attitude MSR I've talked to in the last 5 years so I think they are professional and adequate in that regard. read more

I would rate Gulf Winds as a 0 because they charge a service fee for returned mail against your account. Forwarding addresses were placed with the post office yet, USPS failed to do their job. I closed our bank accounts for this reason and moved to NFCU. Poor service Gulf Winds. hope 10.00 was worth it!!! read more

If you pay late, they charge you 1% of your balance, which is $100 on a $10,000 loan, $200 on a $20,000 loan. Even big corporations and banks will work with you on a payment plan, and only charge a late fee of about $30. But not these people, despite being a local credit union. I'm VERY disappointed. Been paying on time for years. Never missed a payment. Asked to postpone until my next check and they said I could but they would charge me this inflated fee. Don't use them. They are rigid and will not work with you, no matter how loyal and responsible you've been. read more

I've never been mistreated by anyone with Gulf Winds and I've not had a bad experience. Actually, everyone has been extremely friendly. My review is solely based on lack of convenience. I received an auto loan through Gulf Winds. I had been looking to leave Bank of America and thought i'd switch my accounts to Gulf Winds. I've banked with credit unions much smaller than Gulf Winds, I didn't really anticipate an issue. I opened a checking and 2 savings accounts, I switched my direct deposit over. Last night, I went to deposit cash into the ATM and it spit out an envelope. I mean, depositing cash into an ATM and having it available immediately isn't new technology. I called this morning just to see if I was doing something wrong and was advised that anything I deposit into the ATM, i'm given credit for $200 immediately, and anything after that has a 2 day hold. So if i deposit $500 CASH into the ATM, I wont have access to it for up to 2 business days!!!! I was doing this at a 1 location credit union 15 years ago. Needless to say, I will not be keeping my main accounts with Gulf Winds. read more

Gulf Winds has been nothing but wonderful to work with for me. They have been especially helpful with my father's accounts after he could no longer take care of things and after he passed away. They took care of things when money was being taken out of his account by an unknown company. They have always returned my emails, my phone calls and someone has always been there to help when I needed them. If I lived in Pensacola they would be my credit union! read more

We had a VISA Credit Card dispute with Pods Boxes. We returned $139.00 worth of Pods Boxes shipping blankets to the shipper's address and expected a refund. We received no refund and Pods Boxes has our blankets. The FECU Credit Card Dispute Department employees are completely worthless. I will be moving all of my accounts to the Navy Federal Credit Union. read more

STAY AWAY!! On two occasions they deposited my money into other peoples accounts; and caused a BIG check to bounce that almost got me arrested and cost me a LOT OF MONEY! The told me that I was a month ahead on my Harley loan; then reported me late to all 3 main credit bureaus. The refused to cash a cashiers check telling me that the bank the check was drawn on was closed and out of business. I called the sender of the check told him what I was told by Gulf Winds; naturally he thought I was nuts so he cancelled a large purchase that cost me a LOT OF MONEY AGAIN! read more

We moved almost all of our business to Gulf Winds because of the great rates advertised. We used caution and decided to keep our checking account with our original bank along with the Gulf Winds account, just in case. Good idea. The advertised rate at Gulf Windsl was either a "teaser" rate or "bait and switch". We got the 3% in the first month, however, they managed to find a way to drop it to .o5% the next month after claiming our automatic car payment would not work as part of the deal and this was AFTER the clerk assured us that we could use the auto car payment. This appears to be something to bear in mind when considering using this credit union. Get everything in writing and check and double check. A rate of .05% is certainly better than no interest at all but one has to wonder what else is misleading with this credit union. read more

This is not a credit union dedicated to serving members. I opened a checking account only to find out it does not come with checks. Those would cost $20 at a minimum. Seems counter-intuitive that someone would want a checking account without checks. This is just not a place to do business. At least at a big bank I know up from that they will nickel and dime me! What a joke. Tried to get a mortgage. They advertise nothing down/the mortgage I optioned for would have been 2 grand a month payment. Been with this bank since it was Monsanto Credit Union-over 20 years. I have a great track record with financing vehicles over the years. I have worked in my field for over 30 years. I have money in the bank/money in a retirement account/a credit score of over 750-they say I can't get financed through them because I just opened a visa card and because I itemize my plane tickets for work on my tax return (WHAT??) (I have less than 45 grand in debt with my 2 vehicles and 1 credit card with about 500 bucks on it). I have a property that pays me 2 grand a month. I currently pay 1,500 a month in rent BUT I can't get a mortgage with Gulf Winds. Great way to do business with your life long members. I will be moving my money out of this bank over the next month. Extreme disappointment is a understatement. Pure disgust. read more
