used to come here a lot with my girlfriend since it's in the neighborhood. we would frequently go during football season to enjoy beers, apps, and the nfl games. our past couple visits were really disappointing compared to the service we received before. the last time we went our server was openly rude to us, and it confused us because she was typically so nice to us prior. we left after one drink because we felt uncomfortable, she wouldn't look at us when we ordered or spoke and she would roll her eyes and walk away without acknowledging us. we decided to come back today for the friday happy hour ($6.50 for all beers). after our 4 beers, the check came out to $40 and i paid without realizing we were overcharged. my girlfriend brought it up so we mentioned it to another waiter who validated what we said and said she would come back to assist us. when telling her, i acknowledged i should've said something before paying and it was my fault for noticing late. she never returned and we had to leave because we had already waited for 20 minutes and needed to be elsewhere i'll still give 3 stars because of the good experiences we had in the past, but recently it's been really disappointing and we don't feel comfortable dining at gulp anymore read more

Beautiful day for lunch outdoors. Hostess doing double time duty as our waitress. Promptly sat us and took our orders. The calamari and fries were flavorful. Tarter sauce and cocktail sauce were served with it. The chicken fingers and fries platter didn't match the quality of the calamari. Better tenders are offered at fast food joints. These were thin and flat. Mixed green salad was basic but good. The ranch dressing had a hard film on top and flavorless. After dropping off the food, the hostess/server never stopped by our table to check on us. And there was only one other occupied table in the place. read more

Great low-key dive bar for dinner, drinks & watching the game Food/drinks We've come to gulp a few times now, because we live in the area, and they never disappoint with food. After trying a few of the appetizers, my go-to almost always is the garlic pretzel knots.  They are so good, the bread is always fluffy and warm (and not too dense like at other places). They also put the right amount of garlic on top so it's not overpowering, and the cheese sauce is great. This is a popular dish so don't be surprised if they're out of it.  Then my wife and I split the gulp burger because it is a staple. They give you the choice of regular fries, sweet potato fries, or gulp fries which is half-and-half. Go with the half-and-half!  Finally, we split a flatbread. We went with pesto this time, and it was OK. It was very artichoke forward, and less about the pesto.  We wanted to get out of our comfort zone and try something new, but if you're going to get a flatbread go with the buffalo chicken. It's so good! Ambiance/ Service It's in a great location right across from the concert park. The outdoors beautiful, they have heat lamps and a nice fire pit outside. I suggest trying to sit outside as the inside is smaller.  The crowd seems to be fun, and very family friendly. We brought our kid here in a stroller one time. It's not uncommon to see families getting brunch earlier in the day as well. I will be interested to see if there's a large Sunday football crowd that might get a little rowdier than normal, but very family friendly! Also the service is always great and the drinks usually come very quickly! I highly recommend, and I will continue to update as the menu changes, which it hasn't in a little while but we will try something new every time we go! read more

Don't be fooled by the bright orange "open" sign or "please wait to be seated" chalkboard next to two wide-open doors at 10:30, they don't open until 11 on Sundays (which seems a lot more like "lunch" than the marketed "brunch" offering). And don't you dare mention the discrepancy to the host, or you'll be condescendingly smiled at. This place used to be great, but its service has declined precipitously since the pandemic. I'd give this one a pass and check out some of the other places in Playa Vista less than a mile away. read more

Gulp is a cute little spot, tucked away a block off Jefferson in Playa Vista. Since it's walking distance from work, it's a convenient spot for lunch or Happy Hour. They're never super busy, so you'll easily get a table. I want to like this place so much, but the inconsistency on food preparation, paired with slightly overpriced menu, makes it hard. Let's start with the positive. The service. The staff overall is very friendly & inviting. One waitress in particular (I don't know her name but she usually works lunch shifts on Fridays. Long brunette hair. Sometimes wears glasses) stands out above the rest. She always smiles and makes you feel very welcome and comfortable. We've come here with a larger group at lunch, celebrating a birthday. We brought a cake and she hid it in the kitchen, and brought it out with candles (we brought them) lit. She didn't have to do that. She shuffled the check around, so the bday person didn't even see it. Above and beyond! The patio is dog friendly! Drinks are good. I love the spicy margarita. Overall, drinks from the bar are pretty solid, no matter what you order. Now for the not so good. As several of the other reviewers noted, the consistency of the food is lacking. I've tried several things of their menu. The nachos are large, but it's mainly a pile of chips with toppings sprinkled over at the end. Once you eat the top layer, you are left with just chips. One happy hour, I ordered the greek flatbread and it was so good. Crispy crust, melted gooey cheese. The next time I ordered it, maybe a week later, it tastes like a frozen pizza, that didn't get fully cooked. One time for lunch, I ordered the Club Sandwich. The bread was warm and toasted, but still soft. I really enjoyed it. Next time I came for lunch, I ordered the same and recommended it to others (sigh), but this time the bread was hard, like a cracker. It made it very hard to eat. It wasn't even the same type of bread. Inconsistencies like this, make it hard to want to come here for anything other than a spicy margarita. It's a bummer. read more

Severely understaffed and incompetent service. Overcharged us for items we did NOT receive. We ordered for pick up 4 rather uncomplicated entrees. Two of them were fine the other two were a screwed up mess. My husband ordered a burger with an add on egg bacon and jalapeño. He absolutely was charged for the egg and jalapeño but definitely did not receive them. He orders a side of Regular fries but got gross soggy sweet potato fries. My sister in law ordered a barbecue chicken salad no onions. What we got was a regular garden salad NO chicken but definitely got the onions. Overall overcharged by about 20 dollars. What a huge disappointment. Please teach your staff to follow ordering instructions. Please hire some more staff so they can actually get people what they pay for. read more

My friend and I met here after work for dinner and drinks. It was a restaurant/pub that had a mix of after-work professionals and sports bar clientele. I have the buffalo chicken salad and a kettle one watermelon martini. The buffalo chicken salad was great. It was a mix of popcorn chicken breaded and coated with buffalo sauce over a salad with ranch dressing on the side. The ketel one watermelon martini was on special for $5 all day. Was a great place to hang out after a long day of work. The best part was that there was plenty of free parking and a park across the street for nice viewing. Wow ! As a world renowned Yelp reviewer I'm impressed. I got the chicken lettuce wrap that coulda used some corn, that's what I woulda added to my recipe! Nonetheless it was delicious! It was juicy! My friend got the Buffalo chicken flatbread ,per the waiters, suggestion. She was throughly satisfied as she felt that it was cheesy and delicious. Great spot to grab a drink and catch a game!Came here on a Wednesday night and found plenty of seating and pretty easy street parking (a rarity in LA). We had a group of nine and they were able to accommodate us no problem. We were seated outdoors in a covered area with heat lamps available. Food was solid, and almost all of us ordered burgers. The Gulp fries (half sweet potato, half regular) were great and they give you A LOT, which I very much appreciated. We also caught the end of the Warriors-Nuggets game (lots of TVs all around the restaurant). Some of the guys I came with have joked that this is becoming their go-to spot and I can see why!
