Unfortunately, someone recommended this company to me and I took them at their word. I mentioned specifically the things I wanted in a roofing company and they lied about all of them. I wanted someone to come out to look at the roof prior to pricing. I thought they sent roofers, but in retrospect realize they were sales agents. They communicated well when it was time to receive payment but did such a horrible job otherwise. There are nails and a hammer left on the property. 1 month after they completed the job, we are still finding nails. I signed the job with them but when it was time to do our gutters, a random company came to my backyard. At no point was I informed the job would be subcontracted to another company. When I complained, they told me those are Gunner workers using another company's truck because theirs broke down. We have had many repairs and this was by far the worst I've ever had. We kept having to remind them to come after they've gotten our money. The gutters are so poorly done that it's raining currently and it's so loud in the house because the spouts are high off the ground. All you hear is the water gushing down to the lawn. Please do not believe the google reviews. They are very positive but the Yelp reviews matched my experience. read more

Hired Gunner to do the roof, install two new windows and gutters. While roof install was done well all the rest was a nightmare. Windows were delayed and installed leaving gaps in the siding for someone else to fix, gutters were not pitched and properly secured. Many times job was rescheduled. Had to escalate to the leadership team. Finally the company agreed they need to fix issues but still a lot of issues remain. Some of the photos here show the poor quality of the job. My experience with Gunner Roofing was very positive. Nick, my representative, clearly explained the scope of work and cost both verbally and in writing, and everything was delivered as described. He stayed in touch and was available throughout the entire process--great communication and customer service. Danny, the construction manager, made sure everything was done to code and as promised. He was hands-on and attentive, ensuring the job stayed on track. They pulled the necessary permit, were properly licensed and insured, and used GAF roofing materials, which gave me added confidence in the quality. Like many contractors I've worked with over the past 30 years, there's always room for improvement in safety protocols--but overall, they did a solid job keeping their crew safe. Cleanup could have been a little better, which is pretty common with roofing projects. That said, Danny came back the next day with a magnet to double-check for nails in my gray gravel driveway (which is tough to search), and sure enough, he found and removed a few. That kind of follow-through matters. And here's a major plus: the job came in at a good price with long-term interest-free financing--a rare and excellent bonus. Gunner replaced the roof and siding on our house and garage in February; ultimately they look fine. I might say that they look nice (great, even!) if our experience with Gunner hadn't been so appalling. The workers were extremely inconsiderate. They arrived at 7:30 AM and sat in their vehicles eating breakfast and blocking the driveway, requiring morning and afternoon car Tetris. There was a decent amount of snow on the ground when they began working but rather than shoveling or blowing snow out of the yard space next to the driveway, they piled the materials in the driveway, putting the game in Expert mode. They blew snow off the roof to begin working on it, and we had to repeatedly ask to have the paths to the front/back/side doors re-cleared. We also had to repeatedly ask project manager Dan to direct them that they should not begin work until 9:00 AM as a courtesy to our neighbors. On a number of occasions they didn't show up until much later in the day, including on one day at 1:30 PM when Dan very specifically said they would arrive at 9:00 AM. Sometimes they didn't show up at all, and only communicated why after we reached out (van broke down, it was too windy, etc.) They left a tremendous mess every day, including nails and bits of sharp metal where our dogs enter and exit the house. We were very clear that the yard gates needed to be fully closed so that our dogs wouldn't get out, and they repeatedly disregarded that, even using a large rock to keep a gate open and leaving it there when they left. We gave them access to a separate area of the house with a bathroom and full kitchen (and garbage can). They appropriated our large metal recycling can for smaller project debris (even though there was also a dumpster). They plugged in a microwave outside and left it sitting on the stairs to our deck, and left their food garbage everywhere. Piles of project debris were also left all around the property for days. Because of this, the property appeared as though it was still underway for weeks after it was "finished". They also piled leftover and scrap materials next to the dumpster which we later learned they sold for their own profit. At some point, they broke a very old window, original to the house. We discovered this on a Wednesday. Dan indicated that someone would come the following Tuesday to measure the glass and get a replacement installed. No one appeared on the agreed-upon Tuesday until late in the day, and we asked them to come back on Wednesday to avoid an overnight hole in the wall. Dan indicated that they would arrive at 9 AM. They did not arrive until 1:30 PM, equipped with the wrong tools, and then left to get the correct tools. By the time they got back, it was well into the afternoon. When they removed the window, they broke it further. There was a trail of glass left behind, and we were still picking up pieces months later because it was cleaned up so poorly. Again, we have pets (none of whom wear shoes in the house). It was at that point too late for them to get the glass replaced and the whole window reinstalled, so they loosely covered the hole left by the window with a piece of synthetic roofing felt on the interior. Neither of us were able to be home the following day, so we lived with this until Friday. When a worker showed up mid-morning, my husband asked if he needed anything, he said no and went about his work. He left (along with a hand towel from our bathroom!) not long after. The repair and resulting install were so poorly done it was almost unbelievable (see photos). Besides all of the cosmetic issues, the window's counterweight mechanism was not reattached, so it was no longer a functional window. Besides taking off with my hand towel, the worker left caulk smeared all over the bathroom and debris all over the floor and counter (and bizarrely, left the toilet seat up). After a great deal of back and forth, the window was ultimately replaced, with a cheap smaller window. In the weeks following the completion of the project, we repeatedly reached out to get someone to clean up the property. There have also been at least three occasions since February that siding has come loose, and each time we have waited weeks for a response and follow up. We are currently going on over a month waiting for the most recent repair to be completed, with absolutely no response from Gunner. It's disheartening to read (and have trusted) the many glowing reviews that came before ours. Like I said at the beginning of this godforsaken tome, the siding and the roof both look fine. There was some nice attention to detail paid to things like trim around exterior outlets. However, like the hand towel from my bathroom, I'm not sure where that attention to detail went when it came to the rest of the project. We are very disappointed in our overall experience with Gunner. The quality of service has not at all met our expectations for this (not inexpensive) undertaking. read more

We used Gunner to replace shingles. They told us that if we upgraded the skylight to one that is solar powered we would get a tax credit of 30% of the entire job, a savings of over $2000. We weren't planning to replace the skylight but the numbers made sense. When we filed our taxes for that year we learned that the skylight they used did NOT qualify for the tax credit. They mislead us to spending an extra $2,500 on the job. When I called to complain I left a message but no one ever returned my call. This is after they didn't do a good job on the roof and it took them months to come back and fix the leaks they caused. STAY AWAY!! read more

Please be aware: this has been the worst construction and siding company we have ever dealt with. I am very surprised that they have been certified by James Hardie. We had our siding replaced in October 2024. The project took significantly longer than promised. While I chose not to initially complain about the damage to our landscaping, I must also mention the large amount of nails and sharp metal debris left behind on our property. The winter of 2024-2025 was mild, so we did not notice any major issues. However, during the winter of 2025-2026, heavy snowfall exposed serious problems. Wet snow accumulated between our sliding door frame and the siding. The frame had not been properly attached, leaving a large gap between the two. When temperatures rose and the snow melted, this resulted in a significant leak that damaged the door frame and part of our hardwood flooring. We contacted another contractor, who immediately identified the issue and pointed out the poor quality of the workmanship. Additionally, I referred two neighbors to your company--one for roofing and one for siding. We were promised $500 for each referral, but we have not received any compensation. Your team also installed new gutters, which are already falling apart and did not pass inspection because they were installed too close to the house. When we raised this concern with Mike, our project manager, he dismissed it as standard installation practice. We were promised a warranty; however, no warranty has been honored. Furthermore, our calls and text messages to Mike have gone unanswered. Based on our experience, this company has demonstrated a lack of professionalism, accountability, and integrity. read more

I contracted Gunner Roofing for Siding, Insulation, and Skylight windows. It was an expensive project with many disasters with the workmanship. Debris everywhere, even in the neighbors homes, which my husband and I would clean up. Poor worksmandhip with each step of the project. Then due to Gunner's gutter installation, I had basement flooding. I did not realize Gunner had removed the roof line and never replaced it, installed the wrong size gutters. An inspector site visit proved it was due to the Gutter's Gunner had installed. This cost me an additional 6, 000. I agreed to all their additional uncharges extras for BlueWrap, extra for insulations ( which by the way were not installed correctly, and a very pourous cheap and toxic insualtion was used instead of the one I had chosen, because they ran out of the non taoikxic one, but I was not given the discounted price. I found them installing the cheaper insulation when I took a look but they had already sealed up that side of the house. One of the workers told me it not good but they already did half the house with the cheap replacement. As of today, over a year since Gunner's work on my house, the repairs are not done. Wish I had waited and hired a rooofing company that actually looks at your roof and paid attention to my urgent needs. In reading the reviews, Nov-December '25 was the worst month. had all the same problems mentioned in other reviews. My roof took 3 weeks to complete. 3k added to what I consider an expensive price tag and 1 level of roofing didn't even get done!! I sent pictures with the hole in it as well as the nail (screws) that weren't cleaned up. After about six (6-8) emails and a few phone calls. My Issues were "escalated" but not really handled until I refused to pay the last "change order". My original gutter system was removed. Had to pay extra for gutters and downspouts. Old capping left in disrepair, holes were left in the siding where they removed my internal down spouts. Wish I had been told that would have to be done. For some reason, my sinks are draining very slow but, I'll have to get that diagnosed later. Hopefully, it doesn't have to do with a roof vent being covered. There were two vent caps in the ordered of supplies that were delivered but, they and other materials are still sitting in my yard. No final picture of roof. But, got pictures when they wanted more money. Project management/quality checks are the worst!! Went on my roof before the heavy rains and big snow storm. The roofing (epmd) is peeling at corners and sides and I saw something that looks like there may be a hole or damage. Hope I don't have all the problems I had with getting the repair done with the warranty. All in all I would shop around and get EVERYTHING in writing because it seems like they like to skirt around things. Especially when you're paying the max for the minimum!! read more

They tried to get away without putting on the sheathing that I paid for. to remove the siding to put the sheathing back on. They forgot to put The starter strip on the the flashing. to remove the again. Many instances like this plus they forgot all about the crown molding over the windows. Company thinks they are yet. Gunner Roofing and Siding: Hardie Board Siding installation This might be a long review, so I'll highlight some important points in the first few lines. Outstanding customer service, excellent attention to details (even the small ones), respectful of property, cleaned up each day, and the end product is beautiful. We got at least four quotes and went with Gunner's because 1. They were recommended by Hardie-I personally called the Hardie board company to find out what makes them recommend a certain company. 2. They were knowledgeable about the products and installation (I was concerned with this because my research indicated that installation needed to be done properly to make sure there were no leaks and to retain the warranty), and 3. Their price was very reasonable-they weren't the least expensive, but they definitely weren't the most expensive. Customer service was excellent; 1. Frank, who met us at the house to give the quote, was very knowledgeable and informative regarding the product and the process while promptly providing us with a verbal and written quote. 2. Cambell, our project manager, was very knowledgeable, patient (I pitched a lot of 'what if' scenarios), and easy to get ahold of if we had any questions. He checked in often and communicated not only with us, but with the guys installing. 3. The guys who installed it were respectful of our property, cleaned up the site each day, and left things clean and looking great; actually, when they reinstalled a couple of things they had to take down in the beginning, it was installed better than before they took it down. It took us over a year of researching which type of siding we wanted and then many more months of researching (and praying about) who we wanted to install it. We are so thankful we chose Gunners! I agree with Jeffery C. They did not do any of the work. They hire subs, that did not know the job. Gunner was hired to remove all the siding on a new home. The reason for the replacement of the one-year-old siding was that it was all installed incorrectly (Hardie siding). 33 of 37 windows were leaking, 3 of 4 exterior doors were leaking, and Hardie would not honor their product because the installer was not certified, and the work was not done to industry standards. Gunner guarantied the work would meet the certification requirements of the manufacture, and it would be done in 2 to3 week. 3 months later and $89,155 paid out, the job is still not done to a high standard. We complained during the process to every level of personal at Gunner, all the way to the owners. We receive hollow promises. We finally had all we could stand, and we gave up and asked them to leave. To avoid a lean, we had to pay of course. Not the treatment of a senior citizen you'd expect. Do not hire them, if you do, add a penalty clause in the contract. read more

Wow, after going through a very long process of getting multiple quotes, we finally found Gunner and we couldn't be happier. Their online quote process was easy and, as it turned out, pretty accurate despite our roof being a difficult one. (Steep pitched, with several very old layers of roof, as it turned out.) Our project manager Campbell was excellent, as was the whole crew: professional, always on time, hard-working and well organized with solid communication throughout. The project was actually done faster than expected and stayed completely within budget, which itself was very reasonable. Only time will tell about the long-term quality, of course, but after a couple of hard rain storms things are still looking great and the warranty is excellent. I'm the 'man of the house' since my father passed away many years ago, and we had an extremely damaged roof that hadn't been worked on in at least 30 years. When I read about the building collapse in Miami in June 2021, I decided that--cost be what it may--I had to get to work on our roof. I looked up several different roofing companies in the Northeast, but Gunner was by far the top-rated. I found them via the app Thumbtack. I got a call from Leo on a fateful Saturday afternoon. I knew I was in good hands because he told me what I needed to hear, not necessarily what I wanted to hear, and he asked many good probing questions. He explained to me that there would be almost no way to repair the roof for the $9,000 budget I was hoping for, but, if I was able to pay more, he thought his team could fix all our roof's problems. We had holes in the roof, dripping skylights, animals in the crawl space, exposures, and rotting wood. They even said they would totally replace all our gutters. Leo broke down the cost of repairing everything, and he told me a man named Anthony would do a thorough inspection. Anthony arrived a few days later and looked at everything for 2 hours. He let us know that the roof was in worse condition than we thought. It would be now much more expensive to fix. To help spread out the cost, Gunner connected me with Wells Fargo, where I was able to get approved for a loan at 0% APR if I paid it back within 18 months. I agreed to do this because it was clear that the roof was in really bad condition, and I wanted my Mom to be safe. Gunner helped me with all the paperwork, and I would usually only need to e-sign things. They handled insurance and the local permits. Gunner even sent a representative, Becky, all the way down from Connecticut to meet me in Lower Manhattan, where I was working, so I could physically sign some permit paperwork. This is first-rate service. When the work on our roof finally begun, it was so exciting. We had drone photography, constant updates, a dumpster, porta potties, all materials, expert craftsmanship, and a user-friendly website. My mother told me how proud she was to have all this work going on so seamlessly. The neighbors wanted to know how we found Gunner. In the end, the job was done in stunning fashion. I never knew a roof could look so sexy. Gunner cleaned up everything, and removed all extra materials. Two days later, New York had one of the most bizarre rainfalls in history. The New York Times reported that "The rain was shocking in its intensity. More than three inches fell in a single hour in Central Park Wednesday night, shattering a record that had been set just days before by Tropical Storm Henri. Across the region, more than half a foot of rain fell within a few hours, and several places in New York and New Jersey reported more than nine inches. The deluge turned streets to rivers across the Northeast and trapped people in flooded basement apartments. Emergency workers in boats rescued people stranded on the roofs of their cars." And yet my Mom slept through it, not even realizing that there was a major storm. In the old days, she would have been putting out bucket after bucket, tarpaulin after tarpaulin, for when the rain rushed in through the holes in the old roof. Now that's a thing of the past! That's how amazing a job Gunner Roofing did. I told them God bless them, I thanked God we found this team, and I could not be more pleased with their work and the peace of mind that comes with it. In addition, towards the end of my job, I realized that I had not included the shed on my property in their original estimate. But this was not a problem.
