Back in my youth when I was obsessed with the movie The Hustler ("Rack 'em, Sausage!") and had Steve Mizerak's "Complete Book of Pool" book, not to mention my very own (cheap-o) pool stick... this was the place you could always find me and some friends. (Full disclosure: my father was actually really good but unfortunately I didn't inherit any of his 'pool shark' DNA.) Of the few local places that were around (one in Secaucus - near Red Lobster, that closed a long time ago - as well as Castle Billiards in East Rutherford) - Guys & Dolls was always the more affordable place, the one with more tables, and it seemed a bit more 'serious' since you were there to play (as opposed to a place that has booze and you're looking to get your buzz on and pool is secondary/an excuse). It's pretty bare bones (looks like they might've added a 'snack station' across from the cashier/counter) but the tables are in (pretty) good shape, the cues are decent and... you have room to shoot! (There's nothing more infuriating than your buddy who has a pool table in the basement but you can't take a decent shot without slamming into the walls. And let's not even get started when a pub has a pool table and you have to contend with countless people milling about and interrupting your game.) I've been coming here on and off for decades and no matter what time of day... that very first table (carom billiards, no pockets) - is always occupied with some deadly serious guys trying to best each other. That's how you can tell this place is legit. A few things have changed over the years (two Ping-Pong tables in the back corner?) but it's still pretty much the pool hall I recall from back in the day and that's a damn good thing. Wow, This place is still going! Fantastic. I enjoyed going here in the 1970's as a grade school kid. That's right grade school, in a a time when kids could go and do thing's like play pool on they're own. Road my bike up there from "The Valley" after my grandfather introduced me to the place and taught me how to play.... So cool to see folks still enjoying this place. read more

BYOB, which is convenient. Also convenient is that there are a few eateries down the street, so if you want to grab a bite and then play some pool, this isn't a bad deal. It's not shiny and new-it's a hole-in-the-wall spot-if it were a bar, it'd def be divey. It's got that vibe. They have TVs and a food stand which apparently offers hot dogs, nachos, burgers, etc. I've never tried any of the food and if I'm honest, am not tempted to. It's low lit and not packed with people. Seems like a lot of teens and early 20 somethings go here to hang out. They're not obnoxious so it works out okay and there is enough room to space yourself out. If you're just looking for somewhere low key to shoot some pool and have your drinks, this totally works. It's pretty cheap, too. read more

We would always stop at the liquor store across the street to pick up some beer or drinks to bring with us to shoot pool. I've seen many other people do the same thing so it was never just us. If you want to play pool, come here. There is usually parking right out front along the side of the road. I want to say it might be meter parking, although I have never paid anything, so I could be wrong. It's never crowded in here. I always encounter at least one group of younger kids. They also have ping pong tables. They play the radio for entertainment, but there is a jukebox otherwise. Make sure to peek behind the counter because sometimes there is the cutest bull dog back there! There are plenty of pool tables. And games are reasonably priced. read more

This is a cool little hip spot that think could use a little touching up and more entities that keep folks occupied besides the pool and jukebox. Loved the waitress service because I was beginning to feel discouraged when I thought the kitchen was closed but she came right up and took our orders and the food was great. Kitchen can use expansion a little too . $12 abd change wasn't that bad for an hour for the 3 of us but it def could've been better deals in place instead of the basic 2 offers they give you. This pool hall has been around for quite some time. The staff is really friendly, and kind. There are always pool tables available, so no need to wait. The prices are good and they hold specials 3 times a week i believe. Definitely a place to check out and play some pool. read more

There's nothing much to say about this place besides they do have plenty of pool tables. The night I came they had "Ladies Night" (it was a Wednesday night) and it was a good deal. It wasnt busy at all and the staff were friendly. I noticed they had a concession area but it wasnt opened. Not sure if its closed for good or they close after a certain time but it would definitely be great if it opened. I sure did work up an appetite when losing at pool lol. Staff was friendly. The place has been here for years. Its a little run down, the sticks were straight and the tables were level. I hate to give it 2 stars, but the grill was closed and they only take cash. About half the tables were being used. I came here late one Saturday night with a few friends. We had heard that the place gets pretty crowded on weekends, so we thought we might have to wait for a pool table. When we got here, we found a parking space right out front. It looks like parking could be a challenge unless you get lucky and find a spot on the street. We were able to get a pool table right away. The place was busy, but not too crowded. The gentleman in front at the cash register said it would cost $4 per person for every hour of pool and we would pay when we were finished playing. They don't accept credit or debit cards here, but they do have an ATM. I also noticed that they have ping pong tables in the back. I'm not sure what the prices are to play ping pong. While we were playing, one of my friends went up to the snack bar to order a pizza. It was nice because the woman behind the snack bar, Holly, brought the pizza to us along with plates and napkins while we were playing pool. I ended up striking up a conversation with Holly when we were about to leave and she is very nice. They sell drinks here (non alcoholic) out of vending machines and also have a snack vending machine. This place is very basic, nothing special, but an inexpensive way to hang out and play pool or ping pong. I would come back here again. read more

I introduced it to my several friends when we wanted to play ping pong . Only one table is functional and other one has irregular bounce with defective surface . Balls are low quality. We were particularly repelled wen ine day we asked the staff for assistance . They were rude , turning hostile to our polite complain wen we asked for the manager's / owner's contact info to report . This was the first place that popped up when searching for places to play pool. Went in with expectation that the place will be a little run down and the name of the place itself did not led me to think that this was a pool place anyways we go in and this old guy was friendly and charged us 15 bucks an hour for 1 table which is reasonable. The place itself is pretty good. It has around 25 pool tables and 2 ping pong tables. The place is dusty and old which is expected since its been there since 1963. It needs some make over but all in all a nice place to just hang out with friends.. very quiet..not many people on Sunday afternoon...the rest room did not have water which was little disgusting. Would have given 4 stars if not for that and no alcohol... Definitely worth if u just want to just play pool or ping pong. read more
