The products are incredibly high quality I've treated myself to a few lipsticks and have just branched out into the new skin base foundation now I know what shade fits best, and they're all great. The store itself is gorgeous it only opened in December so it's new to the V Quarter, but it's manned by friendly, competent staff who are great at giving tips and advice and testing out colours etc for you. It's definitely a world away from the snooty makeup counters I used to head to and it's got a makeup studio bit upstairs for makeovers. The website has 'How To' videos on, skin swatches and an 'Ask the Artist' function. It's also great at showing how versatile products are and that you're not restricted to just using something on your eyes, for example, you can use it on your lips, or cheeks etc. For someone who's a bit intimidated by makeup, it's great. So when I saw that Nail Bar One existed, which deals exclusively in walk-in appointments, I was excited. My friend and I decided on a spur of the moment treat yo'self day. She arrived earlier than me to the salon, so when I arrived she was already being helped with a manicure. I waited a little longer before someone was available to do my manicure, as they only have 2 people working in this establishment. While both people working there were friendly, only having two workers can definitely mean a long wait for customers. This salon is definitely an express salon. The store is tiny-- manicures are done in the main room, and there are a couple of other rooms for pedicures and other spa options. I got a gel manicure with design, and it was pretty no-frills. My friend had her cuticles cleaned, but I didn't. Nor were my nails cut. They were simply filed, buffed, and then painted. Maybe that's the way nails are done in England, but it was a far cry from my normal manicures in the states. Overall cost was 25 pounds, which wasn't too bad considering. Sadly, a week later and my gel has already chipped noticeably. My nails chip easily, which is why I usually don't get manicures, but I was really hoping this gel would stay on longer. All in all, Nail Bar One suited my needs, but nothing about the experience stood out.

I don't know how those of the distaff persuasion feel about these things but I approached with quite some trepidation firstly because I don't do pampering and secondly because no-one touches my feet (this is for their own health and safety) I was put immediately at ease and reassured that my feet were not nearly as bad as some of the old dears who call in for miracles. My feet were given a pleasant soak and a massage and then the brave young lady cut my toe nails (she was only a little lass but boy did she have some strength in those arms and hands). I left feeling as though I was walking on air and with one phobia less which for me is a result! This place do hair too and my other half says they do it jolly well.

I have been going to get my hair cut there for a few years now and will not change. It's a decent price for great quality hair cuts and great banter. The staff are all really friendly and the receptionist always remembers your names. It's the little stuff that always counts. They have great customer service and most importantly spend a lot of time and care on your hair (and nails). I would go here for any other beauty treatment either, but because of lack of money haven't yet! Definately worth a visit for a decent hair cut!!
