As an avid animal enthusiast (AKA Crazy Cat Lady), there is always that moral struggle between wild animals in captivity, and promoting awareness, preservation, and just simply getting to see these amazing animals up close and personal. With that said, 5 stars certainly does not imply perfection in this situation. I am not too sure how I managed to not know of this place, having spent a few summers with my aunt who worked as a year-round Kindergarten teacher in Innisfail. So when my BF mentioned that he would be interested in checking it out, I was totally up for it, and SUPER excited!! I wasn't too sure what to expect as we walked in through the main entrance. It was pretty busy as the debit/credit machines were apparently not working. Thank goodness we had cash, so we were able to pay our $20/each admission price and walk right in. There are options available to get a more intimate experience with certain animals (bears, cats, beavers). We elected not to particulate in these, as we have a very cautious appreciation for these kinds of animals (either that or I have watched one too many episodes of Fatal Attraction on Animal Planet). Nonetheless, the enclosures are set up in such a way that you can get pretty up close and personal with these animals anyway. Several enclosures had feeding machines where you could pay a loonie to have some food fall out close to the gait and watch the animals eat (the camel in particular seemed to be a big fan of this!). We had to run back to the gift shop to get change (would have been nice if they would have mentioned that when we came in, but no biggie). Many of the animals got close enough that you could touch them through the gait. For myself, this is awesome - but I would recommend that parents keep a very close eye on the little ones, since those tiny limbs can fit pretty well through the fences, and you just never know what could happen - this isn't your typically zoo where there are concrete barriers at every enclosure to prevent anyone from getting close to the animals. Several of the animals were visibly stressed out, and were pacing back in forth. We would try to admire these ones from a bit farther away to try not to bother them as much. This is pretty common, I would say for zoos/wildlife parks. After listening to the 'caretakers' speech during a big cat show, it was clear that they have a sincere passion for education and wildlife preservation. They clearly care deeply for all the animals, and seem truly dedicated to improving the welfare of these amazing creatures throughout the world. In my opinion, the experience was totally worth it, and I wouldn't hesitate for one instant to make visiting the Discovery Wildlife Park an annual tradition.

The prices are reasonable for a day out with the family that proved unique. Having gone on a rainy day and having a 6 mo old with us, we rented a golf cart... So worth it!!!! It allows you to go through all the animals a bit faster, and then go back for a second visit if you'd like. The animal shows are very informative and help put to rest some of the fables. It is just soooooo awesome how they train the Bears. We choose to have a picture taken with the massive grizzly bear. It allows one to get up close and personal. The income from the pictures help them pay for upkeep of the park. There is actually a really nice diversity of animals as well. Make sure you take some change to buy food to feed your choice of animals. If you enjoy social media, they do an awesome job staying in touch on Facebook.

I wasn't having a great day going around but alas, I found this place in the innermost part of the zoo. This place actually made my day. At the front lawn, we saw a red giant chair where our group held the mandatory photo ops. Then we proceeded to the left wing of the building where the greenhouse is located. There is a botanical garden with various tropical plants and trees that don't normally grow in Alberta's cold weather. After that, we went to the other side of the building and discovered the butterfly garden. Again, we had a good time snapping pics of butterflies in various colors and species. These butterflies are so tame that they do interact with visitors. That was a really cool experience. Outside of the building is a six acre garden where you can have a picnic,or sit in the benches, or hang out in the gazebo. Enmax is the perfect venue for any corporate events or weddings.

Cobbs Adventure Park in Calgary AB was definitely a great and fun place to visit !!!…read moreIt is a mix of zoo, activities, games and rides for the kids and family, a little restaurant and sweets stand :) The zoo is a bit of an animal farm with two capybaras, kangaroos and wallabies, sheep, goats, pigs, porcupines, emus, chickens / roosters and a turkey, and a sloth. Part of the experience is that, with the purchase of tickets, you can go into the capybara enclosure and meet the capys, feed and pet them. We are big fans of capybaras, we saw them in person at the Edmonton zoo, and follow many accounts on Instagram, but this was our first time meeting and petting them. They are super relaxed and super friendly. We had the opportunity to feed them fruits and greens, which was so funny!! We then visited the kangaroos and wallabies. Both were friendly, soft and used to humans. We visited with them, and fed them foods. We visited and interacted with the sheep and alpacas, which were also nice to see and pet. The staff of the park were very friendly and professional, and answered any questions visitors would have about animals. The ambiance was very nice - visiting with the animals, having a snack or busy with the games, it was a great day to enjoy the outdoors and animals!!

Like the play area with a playplace, water fun, magnets and Legos, an art area, an interactive theater. As for the pricing it's great to do it with another friend to cut the costs a bit. Another area with big building blocks, and a tipsy cup ride. A cool robotic roller coaster ride for taller kids. We watched a fun science fire show. Went upstairs and explored the human body etc area and that was very fun and interactive. They had a few play areas in the area and a VR experience for the kids.

We realized that this would be a very complicated ask, but Civilized was definitely up to the task. They organized all of our accommodations, meals ( including dietary restrictions amongst our family members detailed at all restaurants that we visited), activities ( including Zip Lines, America's Cup Boat Ride, Guided Hiking, Guided Kayaking, Hobbiton Tour, Māori Cultural Events, Jet Boat Tours, Fishing Excursions, Sailing Excursions, Train Rides, etc. etc) and Drivers to pick us up and drop us off. One driver / guide was also included to accompany us on nine days of our trip. The entire trip was seemless. Each day our Phone Itinerary App told all of us where we had to be at all times of that day. Civilized did an absolutely fantastic job, and we were so pleased with the result.
