However, as a railway station, it is pretty close to facilities, but then having a shopping centre built on top does help in that regards. Sure, Hurstville is probably not one of my favourite places in Sydney, but at least the trains are frequent.

Coles and Mc D, just right at the entrance. This station is located underneath hurstville shopping centre and look so alive! When you out from the platform, to forest road, lots of restaurant offering so many different cuisine,Chinese, Korean, Malaysian etc. Next time I will explore more to this area

I would say that this is a nice, old-style station, but the thing is that quite a few of these…read morestations in Sydney still retain their aesthetic charm from days gone by. Well, sort of, because a lot of them still seem to be the same, but then again it does happen to be a railway station, and I probably shouldn't be all that surprised. Once again though, like most Sydney stations, this one is quite accessible, and also trains are reasonably regular, most of the time.

Stanmore. Can you really have more Stan? Rename this puppy Stanless, cos it's sparse…read more How sparse? On a need to know basis it's a simple two platforms that drops you in the middle of nowhere in Stanmore, and you need to leg it to get to the closest highway. Speaking of legging it, there ain't no barricades and you know what they say... opal cards are only used by honest commuters ;)

Actually, this station is actually a pretty major railway station in that it provides an…read moreinterchange between two lines, and when they open up the North-East link this will also, for a time at least, be the terminus (though I believe they are going to send the trains straight through to Chatswood). The station is pretty cool though, and has quite a few facilities as well. However, it is the underground section that I particularly like.

Space age! I love going down the stainless steel escalators. It reminds me of a James Bond movie…read moreand sliding down the metal part between the runs. The station is clean and efficient and very busy with people especially before and after work. The announcements are clear and there is a well sized lift....but please let the disabled people use it.

Mind you, much of that has been replaced by the newer section up along the road, but the old main building is nothing short of gorgeous. Mind you, I was somewhat annoyed that the toilets were closed, but then again that does happen every so often, but it was a nice place to sit at while waiting for my train.

After the recent renovations the station looks much better. Its clean and I have noticed recently…read morethat we even have some new big pot plants to make it the station even peatier. The station is very straightforwards so you will never get lost (like some at central station) and have only one entry/exit too. There is a space to lock and leave you pushbike (I wish it was more of that, I don't think that's enough) and there is a toilet too (yay!) Sydenham also have fast trains to the city which I am a big fan. Only one thing is missing....a good coffee shop at the station or just next door... anyone willing to open one??

A quay is a structure built into the water for boats to dock. Synonyms are "pier", "dock",…read more"landing". Built in 1844, the dock was originally named 'Semi-circular Quay", and was just shortened to circular. It soon became Sydney's main dock, connecting ferries and buses, and opened this station in 1956 for trains. It's the main train station for the dock and the exit for travelers going on a cruise boat from Sydney coming from the international airport: a quick 20 minute train ride and easy walk (even with luggage) to the nearby Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Burwood Station is an inner west station of Sydney. It is very close to Mini Chinese Town, Burwood…read morePlaza and Burwood Westfield. Therefore a good shopping area. The station itself has a lift and is well posted . There is good signage to tell you when and which platforms are the next trains. You must have an Opal Card to travel on trains, buses and ferries in Sydney. There is concession cards and a senior card that you can apply for on line.

Like many of the stations in Sydney, especially the ones closer to the city, this station is a very…read moreaccessible station, and is also pretty close to the shopping district which, once again, seems to be a common factor with a lot of these stations. The other thing is that the trains through here are fairly frequent, though not all of them stop. Then again, this is a major line so I am not all that surprised since this isn't a major station.

I would highly recommend taking the ferry into the Taronga Zoo. We did uber from Rose bay to the…read moreZoo and it was expensive and time consuming. We took the ferry from the back side of the zoo back to Rose Bay. It was easy, inexpensive and fun. It was very easy to figure out. You can tap your credit card to enter and exit. I'm not sure of the cost but my pending charges on my credit card were very low. We arrived at Circular Quay and then told the ferry back to Rose Bay. The views were beautiful and it was fun looking at the opera house and bay bridge. I would highly recommend it for public transportation it was great.

The ferries are frequent and not very expensive. A good way to travel to the Zoo from the City.read more

I would comment about railway stations built under shopping centres, but the thing is that this…read moreprobably has something to do with the land being relatively cheap - if you can get it that is. As a station, this one really isn't all that particularly great though - accessibly, but somewhat grotty and a bit dull.

Another popular station ..... being in the Hospital District with lots of Medical support services…read more..... and a large population in the area, it gets quite a workout. It's located at the town centre so as soon as you depart the station you are on the main drag with all the shops, eateries and hotels at your disposal. It's always clean & well lit so I would consider it one of the safer stations as well. If you are a St George fan ..... get off at Carlton station .... as it's closer to Jubilee Oval.
